What Current Anime Are You Watching Version v4.0
Big s replied to wolfx's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
some of the max factory kits have pretty cool soldiers and characters. But maybe some 1/72 Vietnam era troops could work well for stand ins. Might just have to modify the helmets and the equipment a little -
I’m hoping that Bandai gets to the 11 either as hmr or a hg kit. I’d love the armor pack as well

What Current Anime Are You Watching Version v4.0

It’s definitely a bit more complicated than the og Gundam. They had a good bit of growing up story wise after finishing what most call the first real robot series and it shows. Definitely more real and less of the super robot thing going on. The new Max Factory kits are pretty great and the figures that come with them have great detail for the size. They’re not quite as articulate as the average Gundam kit and do require a little more work, but totally worth the work -
Back to the days when Robin had a happy childhood. He got to replace his parents with a rich one and gets to beat people up and everyone is ok with that and occasionally gets to drive fancy super vehicles

Nice work on the paint and markings

Jets look great on the ground with all the stuff open and details exposed, but the dioramas and set ups that I get excited for are the in flight ones. I love seeing the pilots through the canopy. Car modelers love to show off the hood up with all the engine detail, but maybe I’m just a simple person because my attention always goes to that one dude that didn’t care about adding extra details to the engine that weren’t in the kit, but to that guy that somehow found a figure of a driver and made it appear as though the car was speeding down the road. Give me a little action over extreme details and I’m happy. My usual rant is that companies sometimes decide not to include a simple set of waterslide decals or a good set of hands with sci fi kits. Bandai is often guilty of these crimes and will put out a kit that doesn’t have the basic emblem as a waterslide decal and often just throws in the J.O. hands.

We watched this show a couple weeks ago. It definitely has its moments, but it felt a little like certain story and character elements could’ve used some work. Overall, it’s not bad and I’ve been craving churros ever since

Battlestar Galactica Discussion IV with Blood And Chrome

I think you also have to think about it in terms of when the original came out. I’d definitely watch a bad episode over most shows that were on back in the day and especially when the show was in syndication. The show had the best looking effects that rivaled movies at the time and a killer soundtrack that sticks in your head that was a big part of great television at the time. I remember often sitting for reruns of it on a block that also would play Buck Rogers back to back and that was a great mix of sound action and great effects. I think the other option was the news or a court show and I’d watch either of those cool sci-fi shows over the other dull options. I’d definitely watch the og show over the remake. Although I am curious about this new reboot. Hopefully they do better looking effects seeing as how it’s been 20 years since the last version. And if it’s a lot closer to the original show, I’d be a lot more interested in the project- 698 replies

Because they’re hoping for the fandom to be a help boost audience numbers. I’d rather see something new as well if they’re gonna basically change almost everything about it, kinda like with Halo. But they’re afraid to put something out that has no existing franchise.- 698 replies

Oddly, Apollo in the og show was more feminine than Lucy Lawless- 698 replies

I haven’t seen it. The guy that makes it basically does every movie in an odd quirky way and I’ve always finished them not knowing if I liked the movie or not. So I kinda skipped this one waiting to see if anyone had a different opinion, but most people just haven’t seen it

Battlestar Galactica Discussion IV with Blood And Chrome

I never really cared for the last reboot. It’s probably because I used to watch the old version so much as a kid and would love to sit down for after school meals while it was in syndication. The reboot just seemed a bit too much, they also took every body’s favorite character and turned him into a her and I wasn’t really into the humanization of the cylons either. I probably would have liked it if I hadn’t grown up with the original series though. Hopefully this is a reboot that is closer to the older show and has better looking effects- 698 replies

I’m ok with them taking a little time between releases. That way maybe I can get through my backlog a bit and give them time to get things right. I had a question for anyone here about the gunpod color. Bandai seems to make them greyish or blue grey, but almost all the toys before this year have had them in the same darker blue as the body. I tried doing a quick google search and at best I get black and white line art . Even the clips I searched on YouTube didn’t seem to show the gunpod. Or didn’t show them well enough to tell the color. I haven’t busted out the dvd to check yet though, but I still have those boxed away for now.

I think the brown would actually look great since it’s gonna be almost white. The black would be a bit dark and kinda gives a more obvious “I preshaded it” kinda look, where the warmer brown could give it a more subtle yet still noticeable look

At this point, I don’t even know how to spell her name anymore. Robotech has it as Mirya, most of the translations til recently had it either as Milia or Millia, and most of the recent Hasegawa models have it as Miria

I miss those lava pies. I hear rumor that there’s still a McDonald’s somewhere on the Hawaiian islands that still serves them. I’ve also heard that Jolie bee serves a mango flavored one that is fried and other than the filling still tastes like the old McDonald’s ones. Unfortunately, I don’t live very close to either so I guess I might have to settle with Madame Web. But I’ll probably just skip it

I think the creepy factor is the selling point though. I’m sure the hands are removable, since it’s a Kotobukiya kit, but then you don’t get that horror kinda thing going on

Marvel Studios TV Shows and Animation on Disney+

I honestly don’t think anyone would put a someone convicted of the crimes that Kingpin was in trouble for in the ticket in the first place, let alone the things that he had done that to others would have been heavily rumored about. And I do think there are some here that have gotten pretty far having certain allegations against them, they were running major criminal organizations and having murder accusations thrown around about them. But like I said earlier, it depends on how much this is sticking to the events of the Netflix stuff.- 1486 replies

The mayor thing seems a bit odd. He’s got so much on him if they keep the Daredevil stuff as part of the story. If they erased the events of Daredevil, then it makes more sense.- 1486 replies

Marvel Studios TV Shows and Animation on Disney+
Big s replied to sh9000's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I’d definitely take that over what we got. It was a lame ending and something tired would’ve been better than what we got. And I’d give credit to someone that could’ve given us something original, if they knew how to write something original that wasn’t stupid. It’s a superhero show that tries to give an emotional ending, that isn’t very emotional and tries to give it to a character that doesn’t deserve that kind of forgiveness. He basically killed her father and turned her into a weapon and then tries to murder her family and the entire town. Hero tropes may be tropes and can be overplayed, but it works more often than I’d doesn’t. That’s why people try to make comic book and sci fi hero adaptations. And that’s why we don’t get many stories where we just make the big badguy cry and then just go home and then go back to being the big bad guy in the next show. How many times do we have to watch Batman either kill off a badguy or send them to an asylum or jail? obviously a lot. That doesn’t make Batman a bad story. It might be same old same old, but it works. Batman making the Joker have feelings for a couple of days after setting him free , even though he just finished a murder spree and killed Robin doesn’t- 1486 replies

I preordered one set through hlj and I think the other two were bbts, but it might’ve been USA gundam store. Either way it’s gonna be a three month wait on those other two. I don’t know why I bother with hlj if I’m just gonna order the rest from a U.S. store. I think I just get overly excited to see something I’ve been wanting for a few decades.
