All things It....movies, TV and more...
Big s replied to jvmacross's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Finally got around to finishing the show. Got derailed a lot by the final season of Stranger Things and a lot of personal matters that kept me from wanting to watch anything with a lot of death and despair over the holidays. pretty good show overall and luckily no one seemed to be putting up spoiler bait for the show since Stranger Things kinda stole this show’s thunder. Probably would’ve benefited from finishing before that show or coming out afterwards. Either way not bad, a bit of a few frustrating characters kinda get in the way of making the show perfect, but still pretty great overall. Pretty gruesome at times and some of the deaths hit pretty hard here. Kinda gave the show a you don’t exactly know who will survive kinda feel. The odd connections to other king stuff kinda gave a castle rock kinda feel, but way more dialed in than that show ever was. Now I guess I gotta find time to do a rewatch of the It movies -
Could’ve also been an odd timeslot. Out here Voltron often came on early morning and if you didn’t get up early enough you’d miss it and everyone at school would talk about what big monster got diagonally slashed to death. Robotech oddly showed up right after school and if you didn’t hurry home, you might miss it. I remember when Dragon Ball first aired and it was super early on Saturday mornings, something wild like 5 am before the show took off and got popular here. Transformers and GI Joe and a few others had later afternoon time slots that allowed for hang out time with friends though and probably why some shows were watched by more people.

They pretty much are the only ones in Japan that do Bandai preorders to overseas customers, so I guess I could see that they probably get a lot of preorders for Bandai stuff, and I get the feeling that Bandai tells them that there will be more product on initial release. Luckily it usually doesn’t take long for the restocks. I do think that the U.S. sources are a decent option though these days unless the item is Japan only.

I love the moderoid variety for sure

Yeah, those models look pretty good and I’m really excited for them. And seeing Moderoid do other obscure designs gives me hope that we may get the whole team
-
I hear you there. I’m really not into the premium stuff either. But I’m still gonna wait to see the more legit ones before buying any

Some more moderoid kits for the Panzer World Galint line. nice to see them adding more than just the main mecha to their lines.

Kinda getting tired of fantasy trying to be dark and depressing. I miss fantasy that was fun and fantastic. Legend seems like a bright cheerful film nowadays

I don’t think it was a big issue until the 50’s or 60’s I remember it was supposedly a big part of why silver age comics had the comics code stamp to prove that things were wholesome and kinda tamed a lot of things in comics. I guess it even distracted parents when the Adam West series popped up that Robin had to cover his junk with his cape due to parental complaints -
Still one of the silliest scenes of the movie. She got her partner horrifically killed because she got distracted by the bbc

I guess it depends. I hear they’re using this to push for a reboot with a different X-Men with newer actors playing them. So this might be what ends the og movie X-Men to give way for the new X-Men of a different universe or whatever. I hate the multiverse. Finally Give Cyclops a cool outfit just to probably kill him off again

General Sci-fi designs across various media

Yeah, that’s a creepy situation. But imagine if it were a random dude in a Speedo with everyone acting normal while he’s having an important conversation with dignitaries and such. And it’s only him. Just that is pretty creepy. I don’t know how that task force would keep any credibility. Then again that’s probably why Batman had so many eyes on him when he brought out his sidekick -

I don’t know, that first season kinda weirds me out. The manga she totally fits with the other characters, but that first season of the show she’s just wandering around demanding to be taken seriously, but the only person in a thong. Doesn’t even matter the situation. She could be on the street or in a business office or at the prime minister’s building just the only person in a thong. The second part of the show put pants on and it kinda felt more in line with the universe, but nothing against hot ladies in thongs, but it just seems really weird to have one random lady in charge of things with just a thong and a short coat demanding respect -

The scantily clad ladies were really his thing. Even when it doesn’t fit the backdrop. I absolutely appreciate his work, but definitely makes you wonder if he actually watched the show or saw much of the preproduction stuff and then just started sketching from memory or what. I’ll have to search for some interviews or something and try and find out what led to his interpretations -
Honestly, there’s only one actor out there that I think could replace Kurt Russell and that’s Wyat Russell. He doesn’t necessarily always get great roles, but I think he has the looks and could pull it off. I wouldn’t mind him playing Snake’s son in a wild post apocalyptic movie since they pretty much reset the world at the end of the last movie

They’re really all great new albums from the past year, they’ll especially hit well in the hard rock and metal categories without being on the extreme side of things. Definitely worth checking out if you like things less basic
