  1. Personally, it looks a lot like Robocop 2 to me: http://images.wikia.com/halo/images/7/74/Robocop_2_Cain2.jpg
  2. Didn't they make a HUGE deal about there being no heads up display in the game?
  3. Given the minimal amount of unique footage in the Macross Plus movie, it might be possible to recut the OVA audio to fit the movie for a fan edit. That's not the sort of long term homework I'd want to do though...
  4. Very into it. If offered, I'll definitely pick up a 1/60. Also, this sort of custom stuff is why MW is so rad!
  5. from the Interesting time - changes at Yamato Toys thread: Hopefully that means take a litttlle bit of pressure off the accelerator before internal speculation runs totally out of control.
  6. Lots of speculation that it wasn't even gearbox: http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/02/12/how-much-of-aliens-colonial-marines-did-gearbox-actually-make
  7. Review here: http://www.gamespot.com/aliens-colonial-marines/reviews/aliens-colonial-marines-review-6403683/ Take from it what you will. Personally, I'm waiting until it's $10.
  8. It's not just UV that damages objects, it's light. Period. Rate of light damage is proportional to intensity. So, if the lighting is too bright, then it's going to fade and damage the object. That said, if you want to totally nerd out there's been some studies on the use of LED's with regard to light sensitive material: http://www.apsnyc.com/LED%20for%20Art%20Applications_Steven%20Weintraub.pdf It looks like LEDs are better, but it's still a matter of intensity. If you rig an LED up that's super blazingly bright, then yes, it's going to damage the object.
  9. I have really low expectations on this one. Every Aliens game that's come out in the past 10ish years have all been pretty lacking. The fact that no official reviewers were given pre-release copies isn't a good sign. This is the only video review I could find so far: There's also this...http://www.vg247.com/2013/02/11/aliens-colonial-marines-reviews-begin-get-the-scores-here/ Ouch.
  10. It really can't be comfortable to sit on a bike in armored underwear all day.
  11. I believe that's the Hasegawa VF-1 model kit with a special 30th Anniversary paint scheme designed by Hidetaka Tenjin, as described on the main MacrossWorld page.
  12. I've used a gundam action base 2 to prop up my battroid YF-21 (which is probably the least stable macross toy I've ever had). Take note though that it's really small and the mounting head unit is totally different, so EXO's adapters won't work. Action base 2 is too small to hold up anything in fighter or gerwalk mode. Never used action base 3.
  13. As of a few months ago there was a free english dub of sdf macross on hulu. You'll have to deal with their commercials every 5 minutes, but yeah, it's free.
  14. Didn't someone who built another custom head in the VF-4 thread say they used Mr.COLOR 338 LIGHT GRAY FS36495? How does that shade compare?
  15. Thanks! The extra munitions are fit into Kurisama's weapon hardpoints from shapeways. I trimmed them into angles and then super glued the hardpoints on. They're holding pretty well for now.
  16. So, I love Yamato's VF-4, but I couldn't shake the feeling that it really needed some appropriate squadron markings. The FB2012 stuff was a nice addition, but I didn't want to get started with trying any paints on this thing. I'd ruin a $300 toy, for sure. I played with subdued skull squadron colors and the VF-1 wolfpack colors from a VF-0A sticker sheet, but it still didn't look right. The blue trim clashed with the schemes and that just bugged me. Did some digging in the VF-1 Master File books and found a photo of some similar looking gray w/ blue trim VF-4s flying with an AK tail code. Ok, I can work with that. Found some old 1/48 A-4 Skyhawk decals with an AK tail code marking and decided to decal up my VF-4 tailfins. Ended up using the old multi-color squadron leader markings too. After some tests, I figured out that 50% flat clearcoat and 50% semi-gloss clearcoat matches yamato's plastic sheen perfectly. Regardless, I know I'm not as good a builder as some of you out there, but I think it looks pretty good and I'm happy with it.
  17. Hate for Gray Fox? Really? That's super surprising to me too, since he always seemed like once of the most popular side characters. I'm in the same boat. MGS Raiden wasn't what I was looking for in the game. Wasn't much of a fan of his "apology" version in MGS4 either. Oh well.
  18. If the new tips are actually silicone, I can ask someone at work. Will get back to you all once I find anything out.
  19. I keep hearing that you can play as the Q-Rau power armor? Is that true? How exactly do you unlock that? I didn't play this again after I blew up Boddole Zer's ship and it still wouldn't let me play any mission as any character.
  20. Just so you know, guys, UV filters provide some protection against fading, but light damage still happens. It's mostly a case of light intensity and duration, which is measured in lux/1 lumen per square meter. Light damage is cumulative and irreversible. This sort of stuff is my job, so more fyi reading http://www.conservationphysics.org/fading/light_i.php
