  4. A true anime classic by Gainax will come out in BD in october. Although the Bandai and Madman DVD releases are excellent, the temptation to get this one in BD quality will be strong. http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2013-06-27/maiden-japan-to-release-royal-space-force-film-on-dvd/bd-in-october
  5. As a recent fan of the awesome Anime Classic,The Super Dimension Fortress Macross. I am aware that Sony Pictures Entertainment owns the movie rights to Robotech movie, as well as home video/digital distribution/internet streaming for the Robotech series. It also means that Sony Pictures Entertainment has the rights to re-release The Super Dimension Fortress Macross, Super Dimension Cavalry Southern Cross, and Genesis Climber MOSPEADA. Because if Sony Pictures Entertainment did release the Ultimate The Super Dimension Fortress Macross Blu-Ray set, it would include the following: Master footage transfer based on the Japanese Blu-Ray release of The Super Dimension Fortress Macross: https://www.amazon.c...e/dp/B006QRCBG2 All DVD/Blu-Ray extras from the previous DVD releases such as AnimEigo/ADV, as well as Japanese DVD/Blu-Ray extras, along with new extras. Has the original Japanese audio from the Japanese Blu-Ray release complete with subtitles based on the ADV DVD release. (The AnimeEigo subtitles had a few errors corrected on the ADV releases.) Has the 2006 ADV English dub complete with a new redub featuring most of the actors reprising their roles from Robotech except for Hikaru Ichijyo being voiced by Vic Mignogna and Lynn Minmay by Mari Iijima. (note: both Vic Mignogna and Mari Iijima live in Los Angeles, where Sony Pictures Entertainment is located.) Would you buy the Ultimate Blu-Ray set if it got made alongside other additions, let me know?

  8. I know that this: http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=26575&&page=3 ...is the general MW Orguss topic, but I figured since it hadn't been updated since 2008 it would be OK to start a new thread.... now that it has been revealed to be on the way for an autumn release on Blu-ray! 15. With the footage in the latest batch of trailers looking so gorgeous, I was curious as to who is going to be picking this set up and, if not, what it would need in order for you to do so. Trailers are on the official website → http://www.bandaivisual.co.jp/macrossII/

  17. Hey guys, returning after a long hiatus. Quick question, I remember back in the day the Animeigo version of SDF Macross was THE version to get, however in my cash strapped student days that was a difficult pill to swallow. These days the Animeigo version is out of print. Is there anything comparable on the market now? I've heard the ADV version is... not as good.

  20. Was just recently reminded of the DYRL movie and streamed it. Was immediately blown away, just like when I was a kid. Decided I must own this movie!! The problem, which version. Did some research and found that there are many versions on different formats. I understand that the latest BluRay version is edited/censored, so that is a "NO". Also found that there were some dvd versions released in the last few years, so possibly one of those. Can someone give me some advice or opinion on what is the best UNCUT version of this movie and why? If it happens to be an out of print or older edtion (or boot), that is fine too--don't mind hunting. I just want the best experience of the uncut movie. *I own a region-free dvd player, VHS player and Laserdisk player. THANK YOU!!
  21. Obligatory link to the old thread, now in the Hall of Supertopics. Anyway, Michael Bay's dream has come true, and Transformers hit on Blu-ray today. It took so long to load on my PS3 that I had to check Google to see if that was normal. I'm not sure if it was, since I do need to do a System Update, but it did eventually load. Anyway, visually I didn't notice a difference from the HD-DVD. Some people online seem to think it is better, and hey, maybe it is. My TV only does 720p/1080i, so maybe those of you with a 1080p TV will see a difference I don't. The audio is greatly improved, however. I dare say it is to the HD-DVD what the HD-DVD was to the DVD, although I am sorry to report that it's just Dolby TrueHD. The bassy blast from Blackout's EMP still seemed a bit bigger in the theater, but it's a huge improvement vs. the HD-DVD. Depending on how much you like the movie, you're mileage may vary. Aside from the audio, it's still basically the HD-DVD package. For me, though, I decided the improved audio and the fact that I can now stuff my 360's HD-DVD player in a closet and forget about it (Transformers was my last HD-DVD) was worth going Blue for.
  22. I'm planning to add English subs to my copy of DYRL BD and my initial forum search led me to these threads of interest: - Hurin's awesome subtitle upgrade (5/18/2005 Update): http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=13965 - Hurin's other upgrade (10/6/2005 Update): http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=13441 - Hurin mentioning re-timing his previous efforts for the 2007 R2 version: http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=24267&page=6#entry546651 Although these were for older releases, I'm still interested (and only interested) in the SRT files that I can edit on my own (I imagine some of the timings will need to be adjusted for the BD release), but a few questions... 1. In the Working Files/Timed Scripts folder, there is an additonal "non-wide" version of the SRT file which ends on line 4481 (compared to 4457 in the other version). What is the difference (24 lines?) between the "non-wide" and "regular" version? 2. My first guess would be to use the latest update (10/6), but the SRT files between the 5/18 (macross-dyrl-r2-perfect-subs) and 10/6 (macross-dyrl-fx-subs-v2) versions all share the same file modification dates. Is it safe to assume that the SRT files used between the two versions are identical and that the updates/changes were only for the other files? 3. These were made in 2005. Has a more recent version appeared or were these pretty much already perfect, making further updates unnecessary? My plan is just to rip the movie then add subs and MKV it, so all I'm really missing is a good SRT file (that will no doubt need some adjustments). Interesting tidbit: my only other copy of DYRL is a "perfect edition" that I picked up at Amazon and I'm 99.9% sure it was built using Hurin's subs.
  23. I thought about asking in the "What Current Anime are You Watching..." thread, but I figured it might be better to create a separate thread. Would anyone have more information as to what will be included in this LE box set? Google Translate doesn't help much at all. I went to the official website (using Google Translate) and it seems that there are two OSTs included along with the Blu-rays and DVDs. It also seems a tapestry of some sort will be included.... Everything else is gibberish to me. A Google search doesn't seem to come up with anything useful either. I've tried narrowing down my search results but I had no luck. I'm wondering if it will be worth it to spend ~$300+ on this LE set or to skip it all together. I previously purchased the NISA box sets a long while back without realizing what exactly I was getting. To my (and many others') dismay, the subtitles are hard-coded with some questionable translations. Anyone else thinking of picking this LE box set up? Thoughts/Opinions? Thanks!
  24. I wasn't going to start a new thread just for this, but the search function really sucks here and I couldn't find any Macross 7 Blu-ray discussion, except for in the FB7 thread. Anyway, I was going through some of the materials included with the first Blu-ray Box of M7, and I found something odd. In the illustration collection booklet, there is a picture of the cover of the old This is Animation Special book. Except it's been modified -- Mylene's face is now drawn closer to Mikimoto's current style, as opposed to his 1990s style. I consulted the largest copy of that image I have, the one in the Gallery section of the Macross Chronicle, and sure enough, the difference is night and day. Basara's face remains unchanged. I have included pics of both so you can check for yourself. Why was this necessary?? Sigh. At least they didn't change the show... oh, apart from the ending of the first episode, which didn't originally have "to be continued" at the end, before the credits (although this change was already present in the 2007 HD remaster DVD box set).
