  1. Astounding! Wow. I would love to see this become a series. I'm blown away by this video. Bravo!
  2. It looks good, but what excatly did you change? I can't really tell. In fact, I can still see a little of the "white" layer still there.
  3. Have no worries, both versions will remain upon my website. I've no intention of featuring one set of line art at the exclusion of the other. Feature both, let the fans decide which they like or like them both
  4. I'd love to add this to the fan art section. Great work! The colors look sufficiently homoerotic and how cna you go wrong with the Spinal Tap font?
  5. It may be time for glasses Seriously though, the only danger the darkened gameplay poses is being too addictive.
  6. Looks great, but there better be at least one passing mention to a milkshake
  7. Might take a while, but the game may come to Steam much later. Kinda like Limbo.
  8. Not bad. Interesting to see what it looks like.
  9. Yes, I'm familiar with Archive Scans. I appreciate the thought, but sadly as great as that site is, the images there are typically not large enough or high quality enough for me to use on my website. As some may recall, I work in extremely high resolutions when coloring art, both for practical reasons and as preparation for larger display resolutions of future monitors. As my access to line art and scanning equipment has improved, I've only become more particular (worse? lol) about what I will use as scan for colored art. Currently, I'm working in sizes that range from 4,000 to 10,000 pixels, so I'd personally need access to the books in question.
  10. Alright Oihan and other retro-gaming folk, this one is for you. A co-worker of mine introduced me to this side-scrolling stealth game named Mark of the Ninja and I've been hooked since I saw the first gameplay videos. Giant Bomb has a great half hour video that discusses the game (http://www.giantbomb...-ninja/17-6540/). They talk lovingly of the Metroidvania influence within Ninja, so if your a Castlevania: Symphony of the Night fan like I am, there is much to adore about this assassin-style action game. For what it's worth, IGN also gave this game a great review. I'm very eager to try this one. I've been following it for about a month since I first learned about the title. Looks like it's time to buy another X-Box card with some more points The company that makes the game has an official blog that can be found here: http://www.markoftheninja.com/
  11. I found one or two pieces, but not the rest. I was directed to several rare, hard to find sources for some of the art, but ultimately tracking those down would be next to impossible. There's also little guarantee that the art appears in the books of a sufficient size and quality to actually create high resolution versions of them for inclusion on something like my website. So for the most part, I've been forced to abandon the search. I figured if the Macross owners really wanted this line art to be published, they would have made it more widely available. I suppose we should feel lucky the Macross Chronicle included as much of this alternative line art as it did. Though their use of the rarer line art in some profiles and adoption of the more common art in other profiles bewilders me I did find and color the variant line art for the Fz-109F Elgerzorene Battroid. As I pruchased more Macross 7 books I also found variant line art for the VF-19S Excalibur Battroid, which I have also colored for inclusion of the next update.
  12. Line art for the Az-130 does appear in "Kazutaka Miyatake Macross/Orguss Design Works", but the size and quality is not great. The contrast is so dark that many of the fine details within the line art are lost (a major failing of that entire book). Much larger and more superior quality versions of the Az-130 line art appear within "This is Animation Macross 7 Animation Materials". If I recall, these two volumes are the only two major art books that feature the Az-130 (aside from appearances in the Macross Chronicle and smaller, less comprehensive books). I've never seen GERWALK line art for the Az-130. It may exist, but with 20+ books in my collection I've not seen it. It is possible that GERWALK line art for the Az-130 (beyond concept sketches) simply doesn't exist or has never been published. More than once I've collected art from a Macross series only to find no officially published art for a variety of mecha. I've sometimes had to modifiy existing line art to inlcude a variant upon my website that didn't officially exist and/or was never published (the VF-1D Virgin Road Battroid/GERWALK, the front view of the YF-21 FAST Pack Battroid, and others). Maybe we'll see it one day
  13. Haven't really worked on schematics in a long time. Been busy with updates to the other material on my website. But with recent access to more art books I did make a quick and dirty chart that compares the mecha schematics available. See pic below.
  14. I find I enjoy the colors of the Varauta mecha more than I like the actual designs. The dark royal-ish colors do allow for some fun shadow and lighting effects when coloring. In defense of the designs, I will say that the Varauta mecha do resemble the oni/demon aesthetic that I think the designers were going for when they envisioned a villain army. In the next update to the Macross Mecha Manual, complete revisions of all the Varauta mecha will be there. For now, here's some thumbnail love (and the Fz-109F in both styles just for anime52k8)
  15. Clarke was in his 50's? How is that even possible? Wow. He did not look that age at all. Dying at 54 is already quite young, but in his case it is even more strange. Sometimes these actors really throw me with their age. Just the other day I discovered Mary-Lousie Parker is almost 50 and she doesn't look a day over 30. Crazy! RIP MDC. You will be missed.
  16. I think the constant reuse/reappearance of the VF-0 is simply the desire of the Macross owners to use existing content for the Macross property. Since it's creation the VF-0 is a sellable design for Macross, so why not try to feature the design as much as possible? If the writing and continuity of the Macross franchise have to be "adjusted" so they can sell more products with the VF-0 included within those products, why not? Besides, a lot of time and effort went into designing the VF-0 so I can understand the desire to sell it to adoring Macross fans
  17. That's some solid work. Reminds me a lot of the Left 4 Dead game modes, which is a VERY good thing. I am very encouraged by the attention to gameplay shown so far by Gearbox. So often these games from film properties are just standard shooters using the film's production design as window dressing. But with this game, Gearbox appears to be seizing the opportunity to develop a shooter that actually creates more unique gameplay based on the actual Aliens universe itself. I hope it works out as good as it's promise.
  18. I'm trying to finish a massive update to the Macross Mecha Manual. I'm almost there. Seems like the anniversary would be a great time to publish it.

I'm not sure. But I do know those books still use those old schematics from 1995 for the fighters, the proportions for which have been criticized (often justly) by many Macross fan artists.

Unfortunately, I've never seen any official Kawamori art like that for the Macross Plus mecha. I wish it existed. However, if they decide to publish a "Master File" there will be some orthogonal schematics in there. The VF-19 Excalibur Master File had Battroid orthogonals. Of course keep in mind that the artists who produced those schematics for the Macross books probably know less about Macross than you and likely haven't put in as much thought and effort as you have for proportions. Given your work so far, I think you'll do better.
  21. These are both really good. I like the little write-ups too and the logos. Well done!
  22. Great stuff. I like the one of Minmay with her head turned. Solid work as always!
  23. Sad to see him go, but it's waiting for us all. I hope an era of interest in space comes round again and we see more folks like Armstrong. RIP.
  24. Interesting idea and I like the art. China is one of the largest markets and it's one of the more promising growth zones for popular entertainment, so it's a smart bet to market to them. I hope it works out.
