  1. Past hour
  2. Well, shows over. I kinda get the feeling that this show was meant to be far longer, but got cut short and they just had to cram everything in The last few episodes. I definitely enjoyed it more than witch and overall thought it was fun despite many many flaws.
  3. Today
  4. They are listed as hg kits, so definitely perfect sense
  5. I just consider these HG's and the 1/72 perfect transformation series the MG's and it all kinda makese sense.
  6. Watched the live action How to Train Your Dragon, and I enjoyed it just as much as the animated. They kept right close to the original and managed to deepen a few scenes which, if you are going to do a remake, you should anyway, otherwise just make your own movie. It doesn't hurt that the writer/director is the same for both. Really hoped talks of the other two sequels getting the same treatment comes through.
  7. Old model with soon to be finished raider x, I mean defender!
  8. It’s a different product all together. This one is for the hg type of builder, made for simplicity and to scale better with the other hg kits that have recently been produced in 1/100 scale.
  9. Have done... unfortunately I've come up dry. It's a loanword, so I'm kind of swinging for the fences no matter what. I've tried several common substitutions in case it's a typo, but no luck thus far. Since the other ship name references have all been folklore and fantasy, I bounced it off some friends with degrees in history and literature and they reckon it's probably meant to be the Oz reference we suspect it is. Evna in the Oz books is a beautiful seaside town in a land that sits on top of the underground mines and factories of the Nome King, while the Evna in the Macross light novel is a seaside resort ship with a hidden Galaxy corporation factory in the sublevels under the resort. (Possibly also a particularly smug in-universe authority figure making a tongue-in-cheek criticism of the Macross Galaxy fleet by comparing it to Oz and the Emerald City, a place of illusory wealth and mass delusion.) Alas, no... "bu" and "vu" are completely different kana.
  10. Not sure on that, it’s a bit tough to tell from the pictures. I can see it either way, but I guess we’ll find out soon That I’m kinda doubtful on, it isn’t showing in any product pics yet , I have a feeling they’re going for the scene just before the final battle in the scenes where the faceplate is down, it appears clear. The Queadluun Rau kit has the faceplate as an option, but it’s just the color of the plastic. It may be possible to use that piece as a rough guide to make it, not sure if they’re sized the same or not.
  11. I was planning to wait for 3Z to release one of these but not sure if /when that would ever happen and this was cheaper anyways so I finally got a 1/60 Max 1A to add to the collection: And one of the main reasons I wanted one was because I had this suit waiting for it for years:
  12. Yesterday
  13. Question: does the helmet have a faceplate (transparent), or is it all "open" (not sure if the anime has it as transparent)? Was wondering if it might just be easier to fill the front of the helmet and paint it to look reflective/tinted? Update: apparently it does-
  14. Mine shipped, looking forward to it soon.
  15. I was hoping that the face might be a separate piece that fits inside the helmet. If it's all one piece then that would be a no go. If the face is separate then that makes it more possible, but I guess I'll need to see what the parts actually look like to know if it's doable.
  16. If you have some time to kill.... https://www.starwars.com/star-wars-galaxy-map
  17. I'd suggest possibly expanding your search to less literal transcriptions, maybe? I'm pretty sure you can plausibly read those katakana as "Ebner". for example, which is a German surname. Not finding anyone immediately relevant with that name in particular though.
  18. Life is crazy right now! I have so little time but I really want to get to them. As soon as things calm down, I'll start pumping more reviews out.
  19. Well, GQuuuuuuX ended today. I'll say this for it. The ending is the best episode of the series. Still not great, but actually enjoyable to watch where a lot of the rest of the series has felt like a bit of a slog though filler. There's a fair amount of fanservice, multiple betrayals, and a proper explanation of WTH is actually going on with the universe.
  20. I have thoughts and opinions. 😄 I too grew up with G1, although I was thirteen when it premiered, a little older than the target demographic. Nevertheless, the concept sang to the deepest core of my being and still does. I also want the best versions of those characters, although my view of that skirts somewhere between toon'accuracy', toy, and box art. Anyway, since G1 lies at the core of my collecting, I'm also down for whatever Hasbro has to do to provide that and if that means taking up a copious chunk of Studio Series doing characters that didn't show up in the film, well that's fine by me. I make no secret that I vehemently abhor the Bayverse films. However, I acknowledge, with gratitude, that they were successful, the financial windfall thereof benefitting the brand across all lines including Classics, Animated, and Prime. Although Studio series was initially created to highlight the live-action line, I've had no problem accepting that it has grown to include general media from films to games and perhaps eventually tv series. While my initial inclination, nasty though it may be, is to say "F**k Bayverse fans" for their hard feelings over the enduring popularity of G1 and its subsuming of a good deal of Hasbro's toy production, I'm not without empathy and I know how I'd feel if the shoe was on the other foot with Bayverse becoming the most popular part of the franchise and G1 fading away and getting less and less representation. I'd be angry, disappointed, and frustrated, and so I feel for my fellow fans who, for reasons I'll never understand, love the Bay films. Indeed, Hasbro's walking a fine line to avoid alienating fans of other aspects of the franchise, which continues to grow with every new show and film, and even independent toy lines all while dealing with the financial reality that certain parts of the franchise do better than others. I'm eternally and profoundly thankful that G1 maintains its hold on fans, as it should, IMHO, for kick-starting it all and heavily informing every other incarnation. However, I do hope that fans of non-G1 Transformers get their due in plastic as well, as everybody deserves to be served. I appreciate the honesty of Evan, Mark, and the various marketers who do these fanstreams, and I hope they can offer some hope to fans who are wishing for holes to be filled or explain why they're not, at least for the present. For myself, the Omnibots remain a void in the G1 collection and I hope they get toys eventually, too, but I get the frustration from fans who want characters that have been in media, perhaps with prominence, and still aren't getting their updated toys. Patience may be a virtue, but sometimes it's a hard one to embrace.
