  2. You don't have to take it apart. That feature has been long known, but I guess was just easy to forget since the 1/55 TF process is way so simple OOB and stuff. At least this reviewer recently explained it with his retro-review at the 10:40 time-stamp: As such and fwiw as a trivia, Bandai kinda replicated that feature in their DX VF-1 line:

    1/55's revisited

Ooh.... that is new to me as well! Guess I haven't been transforming them enough!
  4. That makes sense if you are taking the whole thing apart. Only parts I ever took apart are the shoulders to fix the ratchets and the cockpit as part of the intended shield swap. Luckily never had problems besides the shoulder on any of mine and I don’t like to paint or alter my toys. Still interesting I’ve never heard it mentioned before, even in the instructions.
  5. Well, with news getting worse by the day (Dell gonna have a bad next quarter it seems, either unable to deliver or need to charge customers WAY more to fulfill existing contracts), I figured "they can all raise prices on existing stock AGAIN" with no warning, so I picked up that one at CostCo I linked to earlier. Pulled all but one off the shelf to look at serial numbers, picked the highest number (should be the newest one), and lucked out and got the one with the better mobo (4 RAM slots, better heat sinks for the VRM etc). So if I can ever acquire more RAM, it's ready. Not setting it up tonight, too many other things to do. **with component prices soaring, every retailer is seeing huge numbers of "returns" with pieces plucked out, that eventually get shipped back out to unsuspecting customers. Far more horror stories than usual, I wouldn't trust buying a whole tower online from ANY of the major retailers. Gotta go grab one in-person to visually inspect that it's factory-fresh and sealed. ***also, just since yesterday, CostCo sold out of my #3 choice. So "good options" are dwindling rapidly. (they had 2 of my top 3, and I didn't feel like risking Amazon 3rd-party seller for my #1 choice)
  6. It's just a picture of the Rick Hunter cyclone box. I paid the exorbitant price for one... But just so I can have it on the site... That price is crazy.
  7. Today
  8. No matter how many times I click your link, the page never loads. Strange. Anyway, love that cyclone. I thought about picking up the special edition on the secondary market but the prices were just unreasonable.
  9. Mike you really thinking of getting this Apple Chromebook? It's stylish and has the Apple name to appeal to students but i need a GPU and OS that's compatible with PC games. Apple is becoming the good discount value in tech right before this RAM shortages kills the PC industry. This and apple giving us the iphone 17 with 256gb and 120 pro motion for the same price as the 16 is amazing value which is why they're killing it in sales this year with the 17. This is prob going to do the same for entry level notebooks:
  10. Looking forward to Studio Series TFTM Cliffjumper and Cyclonus.

    1/55's revisited

Yes I've known it since taking apart Jetfires back in the day. There's a spring in that area.
  12. Got a shipping notice from BBTS for the Sentinel Legioss, apparently they're on the boat now and BBTS expects to ship it to customers in April. Still silence on the Tread.
  13. Same here. Although, I only have around 5 left. Not really a big TF collector. I probably only have 1% of the size of your collection . I've been recently intrigued and tempted to get this Devastation Bumblebee, even if I'm not familiar with the game, cuz it reminded me of Classics Bee. I didn't get SS86 cuz of the head/face, feet/wheels and overall proportions, but this one does better in all those areas... plus those cell-shaded windows! I've been watching reviews and wondering if those yellow shins can be removed just like what I did with Classics Bee (also removed the doors on his forearms, effectively rendering him into a partsformer). But based on your pictures, the lower legs are hollow and have holes where those shins slot in . Still on the fence, but a very informative review nonetheless.
  14. Movie budget Dragons. I think that was the entire pitch meeting.

  16. Posting this information I saw on TFW and got permission from the OP (@betsuni) to repost here. Original Post on TFW. Just wondering how many people here knew about this feature? So I discovered something new to me on the old VF-1 1/55 design after I don't know how many decades of owning one (and playing with my old VF-1A as a kid to the point where the front landing gear won't stay locked in). There is a clip that is there to firmly attach the "back" of the Battroid! You can unclip it by pushing down on it when flipping out that back panel instead of trying to pop it out. This new found knowledge makes this thing an insanely awesome toy. It is super solid now in Battroid mode. I am a two-time, undefeated Chunky transformation champion, who has owned and been playing with these things since they came out, and I have never noticed this or heard it mentioned until it was just pointed out in that thread. The clip part, yes, but that it has a spring loaded release, nope!
  17. Alpha Fighter for Admiral Hunter XD
  18. You mean the MacBook Neo? Just 8GB. Not ideal, but like I said, I have an M1 Air with 8GB, and MacOS is optimized enough that it still feels adequate for basic tasks. Better than a Windows device with that little RAM, anyway. EDIT: To be clear, no, I don't think the MacBook Neo is going to be enough for professionals... but I don't think the vast majority of laptops under $600 cut it for professionals. And gamers are almost stuck with Windows (and, again, probably need to spend more than $600). The MacBook Neo is definitely not suitable for everyone. But, I feel pretty confident saying it's the best laptop under $600, and a solid choice for people who do most of their work in a web broswer.
  19. TBF, my parents weren't into sci-fi at all (I'm the oddity in the entire family, even extended), and we made few trips out of town. My mom didn't drive, so we were reliant on my dad to take us anywhere, and as recreational interests go, he and my mom were both far more into country-related stuff like county fairs. Can't tell you how many tractor-pulls, cows, pigs, chickens, goats, etc of all breeds and variants I saw as a kid. So, my access to stuff was extremely limited, and of course, there was no internet. There may have been more anime related stuff around, but I had neither the knowledge of nor access to it. Contrarily, my buddy's dad was into sci-fi and it was always a treat to go to his house b/c he was an only child and they bought him all sorts of toys from a range of sci-fi. I was jelly. Makes sense that the most anime-related toys in the 80s were found near ports and military installations. Unfortunately, we have no major military installations in PA. I only know of the AF Guard unit at the Pittsburgh airport. I did come across a vintage toy store in Pittsburgh where I picked up a G1 Jetfire complete with original box and a G1 Steeljaw. I don't recall any other anime related toys, but back then in the early 00s, my knowledge of anime wasn't as broad. I would've definitely known Macross or Mospeada stuff (or at least recognized a Legioss on sight), but I don't recall seeing any. As to tv, I think the cable company and the package you chose determined a lot of what you'd see. My future wife lived only an hour north, but she and her brother watched Voltron regularly. I never saw it at any point growing up. Too, one of my closest friends who lived about a five-minute drive from me got Galaxy Rangers clear as a bell on his tv, but I had to arrange rabbit ears on my little B&W tv to get a staticky and barely discernable signal to watch it. So, I think the service had a great deal to do with the programming. We were never well-off, so I think we likely had minimal service. Still, I got to see Transformers, GI Joe, MASK, Thundercats, not to mention all the cartoons on Saturdays (Mighty Orbots, Pole Position, Bionic Six, just to name a few) with clarity, so I still carry a fondness for those days. I feel sad that today's kids don't have that experience. Then again, they have the internet with the glut of availability that it offers, so feeling less sad for them. 😄
  20. Yep those are the kits I had back in the late 80s. The Toyrise Mospeada will be my main focus this year. Nothing this year other than it , still waiting for the red variant.
  21. Will it be on HBO whatever it is now, or ParaMax plus or whatever it will be? all I know is that it can’t be worse than Wonderman
  22. Fortunately the neck cover is easily replicated. I used to have it on Shapeways, and that may exist again (maybe?), but I'm sure it could be produced by anyone with a capable 3D printer.
  23. I had a friend that grew up around there. He said you had to search the odd spots , kinda like out here with Swapmeets or mom and pop hobby shops. But my understanding was that it was more common on the west coast because troops often brought them back to sell that came from overseas. As far as the Robotech show, he said it did air over there, but on a three hour difference. I guess he only discovered the show when he was sick for a week with the flu and the show aired at a ridiculous time when he would normally be in school and unable to watch. I think he said he eventually found a friend that had a vcr to record the show and would watch it over there when he’d stop by.
