The computer and electronics super geek thread

Not bad, nearly $1000 less than I paid 10 months ago. And with NAND chip prices going bananas I doubt you could build a PC that cheap right now with those parts. -
Saw ANACONDA for New Year's date night. It was fun and entertaining which was my expectation. Paul Rudd and Jack Black have great chemistry so its a recommended film.

Well, there is a youtube channel by the name - but a quick look at it seems like it is simply every anime they could get their hands on. -

What Current Anime Are You Watching Version v4.0
Seto Kaiba replied to wolfx's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
The point is that shounen's dominance of the anime conversation and public perception of anime goes all the way back to when the current crop of child-raising parents (Gen X-ers and Millennials) were exposed to the stuff via cable. Yeah, most anime is streaming these days but the reality is that if you go to most streaming services that carry anime most of what they're advertising prominently is not isekai... it's those big-ticket shounen titles like One Piece, Jujutsu Kaisen, and My Hero Academia and a handful of dramas and non-isekai titles like Frieren, Spy x Family, and Oshi no Ko. Demonstrably false, I'm afraid. Most of what viewers are tuning in for when it comes to anime on streaming is shounen anime. It dominates the awards, it dominates the news, and it's also the stereotype of anime fans that's been dominant since the 2000s. -
To be fair the armor is the least of the problems with that Dracula movie.

Yeah, the stands are well made; very happy with them! All the components are high quality materials from the acrylic to the hardware. If anything, a minor suggestion for improvement would be to include knurled fasteners for tool-less setup, but that would likely push the costs too high and limit poseability, so I understand why quick release/knurled fasteners aren't included. The first photo is just sitting on the base. I guess the threezero stand might be able to also support the kneeling setup while suspended in the air? I'd have to try it out to know for sure. I did try some banking setups with the threezero in fighter. It can do at least a 20* bank, but i didn't have time to try more than that. I'll try to get more photos up later. If you have any specific things you'd like to see, let me know and I'll try em out.

This was my first upgrade kit. I like the extra height, new hands, and new faces but I'm disappointed in the lack of silver paint details on the new blaster compared to the one included in the regular DK-30 kit. The matrix chain was a nice idea but the implementation was meh as it always hangs facing down.- 921 replies

What Current Anime Are You Watching Version v4.0
Big s replied to wolfx's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
That was like fifteen years ago or so. Most kids these days probably donโt even know what Cartoon Network was or even any cable channel. Theyโre mostly checking out the newest things from crunchy roll or some other streaming services and the Tronime is the majority of what pops up. Sure thereโs gonna be shows they will like more that fit other genres like the anime superhero things or even classics, but the majority of what theyโve been exposed to is the stuck in a video game or reincarnated in a video game or the reincarnated from a video game or how to cook or how to camp anime or stuck in a video game and have to learn how to coook or camp. And the ones that donโt even like anime seem to blame those types of shows -
That looks really nice. In the first picture, do you have the the Valkyrie attached to the stand or is it just kneeling down on the base? Also, have you tried to bank the ThreeZero Valkyrie in fighter mode using the GoKin angle adapter?

I think it looks alright so far, I donโt really get the hate that everyone is giving for design choices. Probably the first time I can remember so much hate for armor that doesnโt look super historic ever. Imagine if these people were around and watched that Gary Oldman Dracula movie. Theyโd have had a fit over his armor and style choices throughout that whole movie

My son got an entry level gunpla build from a friend. Pretty impressed with the articulation and the ability to hold a pose on these so-called entry kits.

Considering the immense strides taken within the Speed Champions line, and the subtle bleed over to City cars and trucks over the past few years (very likely due to former SC designer Chris Stamp, now a design lead for City), it's unfortunate that some of those innovative techniques haven't been applied here. I realize this is targeted at a younger age bracket than SC, but would it hurt anything to dress up a fictional fighter/aerobatics jet to impart a slight air of refinement? For me, since I was a wee lad, I've always prized folding landing gear in a toy, especially since the occurrence was, and still seems to be, a rarity. Regarding the Blue Power Jet, let me preface by saying I was following Mike Psiaki's creations long before he got hired by LEGO, and knowing the quality of his work, I was very much looking forward to what he'd bring to the table. He certainly hasn't disappointed, and while the Blue Power Jet remains on permanent display in my collection, and while I'm a fan of his Expert Creator cars, his impressive upgrade to the Galaxy Explorer remains the crown jewel, IMHO, of his catalog and I'm exceedingly grateful that he, of all the talented designers, was the one to tackle that design. I honestly don't think it would have been as great as it was under any other hand. Look no further than the lackluster followup, The Blacktron Renegade, which felt like a disappointment after the stunning and innovative Galaxy Explorer. You probably wouldn't like my VF-4 or one of my current projects, as I used cones to create the noses on both. In certain circumstances, I think they perform the job adequately. Not perfectly, but they get the job done and look closer to RW jet radomes than wedges, IMHO. The fact that The Blue Power Jet was nigh unambiguously an F-35 in airshow colors and got released, yet the Technic V-22 in rescue livery was canxed citing LEGO's "no current military" stance is laughable on its face. I was sooo looking forward to building that V-22, one of my favorite aircraft. Ironic, then, that about a decade ago they released a very V-22 inspired heli-plane set in their City Cargo subtheme. How does that work?๐คจ

@tekering - I would like to rent out the top floor corner penthouse please sir! I'll have my things sent over next week! ๐ Looks awesome!

@tekering well it sure came out great and sounds like you have plenty of future plans for it. ๐

This one I acquired for myself. I figured it would be fun to display and photograph with scale vehicles and figures, including Transformers, Hot Wheels/Tomica, and GoodSmile's entire line of Patlabor models... and since it's cost me less than $400 altogether, I can sell it later and still make a profit. โบ๏ธ Happy New Year, everybody! ๐
