  2. Found the problem. Was one of these missing: d3dxof.dll , dmcompos.dll , dmloader.dll, dmscript.dll , dx8vb.dll - no idea which it was but that was the last bunch I installed that were missing. I'd put my money on `dx8vb.dll` though.
  3. Just curious.... I know Ted E. wasn't the only person who purchased this kit! Is there anyone else who may have completed theirs? I would love to see!
  4. But they will probably still show up for the film more than likely in just enough numbers to get a profit. The budget will probably also be fairly low in comparison to other studios and even though I feel that they are kinda 50/50 on their good to bad ratio, A24 has built up a sorta fandom all of its own and more than likely will make up the majority of the ticket sales. It may not be as big a thing as Minecraft or Super Mario, but it probably won’t need to be
  5. HeppokoSamurai posted lots of pics and vids of the revival-version on his twitter-page: https://twitter.com/simsim5479/ sample:
  6. Some parts of that story are likely too unremarkable/mundane/boring to bother putting into a series too. For instance, the theft of the shuttle is probably a nonevent. Rebels steal Imperial shuttles so often in Star Wars shows that how easily and how often they're stolen has become a bit of an in-story running joke across multiple series. "How is it the Empire lets us keep stealing these things?" - Kanan Jarrus
  7. MMC are the undisputed masters of all-in-one engineering. This thing is a triumph of form and function. I've always liked emergency vehicle Transformers, but for some reason, the Protectobots have never really been on my radar. I don't believe I own any versions of them at all in my collection, which is rather ironic considering I now own two versions of the Combaticons with plans to buy all the upcoming Hasbro Legacy figures for a third Bruticus. Granted, Bruticus is my favorite combiner, but given my aforementioned interest in emergency vehicles, I find it odd myself that I don't own some version of the Protectobots at this point. In the interest of trying to preserve what little space I have left for display, I passed, oh so reluctantly, on MMC's Bruticus as I'll now pass on these. I appreciate the achievement they represent, however, and I vehemently wish one of the 3P legends makers would take so ambitious a course with their versions. I recently bought Magic Square's Combaticon Team and they didn't disappoint, although they rely, as most TF combiners do, on a handful of partsforming bits to complete the gestalt. Perhaps I'll invest in their Protectobots, should they get around to producing them. Too, I'll likely get the Legacy versions as well, again, should Hasbro choose to do them. MMC have long been my favorite 3P company, as I own more toys from them than any other third party, at least in the MP scale. I haven't counted, but it's a toss-up between Magic Square and Newage for most 3P toys in my collection at this point, but I digress. Anyway, MMC have been bringing an interesting approach to Transformers for years and they just continue to raise the bar with their engineering and thoughtful approach to both form and function. They make beautiful toys, including what is IMHO the best take on Arcee yet rendered in plastic. Even though I pass on many of their products, having largely stopped collecting MP scale (always room for more cassettes though!), I continue to be amazed at their output.
  8. Ah, yeah... I'm one of those people. I think we talked a brief bit about it during SDCon back before the COVID lockdowns. My translation of the Special Edition book is about 80% complete. I'd hoped to be done with it inside of a year, but free time became a rather scarce commodity a few weeks after that first lockdown and hasn't really recovered. 😅
  9. I just got the VF-25S revival Ozma figure from Amazon and the left ankle quite easily collapses. Does anyone know how to fix this?
  10. Unless the timeline has been changed there are 3 years between Episodes IV & V. Then a 1/2 year between V & VI. You could cover the 2nd Death Star, show how they captured the Imperial Shuttle, killed those Bothans, the move from Yavin to Hoth. They covered the years leading up to Yavin and a few years after Endor. The movies only covered the big battles. You still tell stories about smaller skirmishes in the war. I'm 100% sure all of it has been covered in some novel or comic book, but live action Star Wars is the most interesting when the good guys are the underdogs.
  11. @woodsider Thanks. I’m having a blast. These are the next two on the bench.
  12. I've heard multiple people say they've done or are working on translating the books (overheard at various cons) I wonder what became of those projects. Maybe they are done and the answer is a few google searches away?
  13. Looks awesome! Keep building those old kits!
  14. I've only ever seen copies of Special Edition and Vol.4 in person. I've managed to score a couple copies of Special Edition over the years on YJA and Mandarake and so on. Just a fantastic book, IMO. You can really feel the team's love for the series in the massive attention to detail they put into it.
  15. Adapting a popular property with an extremely vague or borderline non-existent story just means the probability that the film's story will be harshly criticized by the game's fans for "getting it wrong" is almost 100%.
  16. A promising future. We’ve got a 1,000 sq. ft. house now but we’ll upgrade eventually to a place where I can celebrate my hobby properly. The Lewin Metroplex is a work of passion and art IMHO, but it has some design deficits that I intend to correct via CNC and metal casting.
  17. Finished the second season. Just as f'ing good as the first. I'm hoping we get to see more of this. A series about the second Death Star would be very interesting. But who knows with Disney...
  18. Wheel of Time - cancelled.... https://ew.com/the-wheel-of-time-canceled-after-3-seasons-at-prime-video-11741261 I know it was contentious, they messed with the story in the first season and it only improved a bit in the second, but By the Light, was the third season so damn good - so they must certainly cancel it! And part of the reason was it's hefty price tag?! Excuse me, they kept Rings of Power at a price tab of 1 Billion!? Not a big fan of it, I like RoP enough, but between the two WoT was so much better! Especially season 3. Even if it had never improved past that, it still made RoP look like a stink pile. Just goes to show another example of executive stupidity. There're saving me money though. Makes me think twice about paying for Prime Video and there is certainly no reason now to buy the first two season on DVD. So, thanks amazon, I guess...
  19. Just an update (as the weekend starts). Maybe I'll get around to making another post on Sunday/Monday, idk... First pic for your attention, additional in the spoilers... I have a more final-ish shape of the VF22S bay door, added the detail (probably didn't need to just yet), accounted/adjusted for stand-off tolerances (exact placement and mounting maybe this weekend...), and printed it up on the lower res printer just to get it out fast (accounted this is just another iteration). I know there is a feature (optional) I want to add to this design. For the hell of it, definitely OTT and unnecessary, I separated/exploded the canopies... I'll work on the assembly this weekend and adjust if needed. Separating the supports from the canopy frames was a bit concerning, lol. I also added heatshield detailed versions as well. I added the "CANOPY KEEP CLEAN" marking to the side of the canopies, but its tiny as hell... it's there on the clear test parts for this batch but you'll need a magnifier, lol. Not sure how much more I can size it up (the first screenshot in the set is what I have it as currently). IIRC the size I went with on the head laser/antenna does not fit on the canopy unless I place it under the panel line (above the cutout tab), where it is not on the Bandai YF-21 DX and I do not want to do that. The "NO STEP" marking does not work well at all. I've tried several different methods and because of the shape and faces of the canopy it does not emboss/want to play well at all, lol. Worst case I'll just nix/skip the emboss markings on the canopies entirely and not even bother with them on the head pieces as the real estate/surface areas are tiny, idk... I guess I may play with it some more this weekend.
  20. Just cast Jack Black as Let Me Solo Her and make the whole thing a comedy. It'll save a lot of trouble in the long run.
  21. Little buddy says hi. I think it came out ok. Pretty much a straight build. I think it needs some weathering.
  22. Open ended game world, eh? Maybe they'll get Jack Black to star in it....
  23. Yesterday
  24. Screw this, they should make a movie out of Metal Wolf Chaos instead.
  25. Having no story means they can’t screw up the story. I’m sure it may actually work for the oddballs at A24. Most of their movies don’t seem to have a story and by the end of their movies, you’ll often ask “What the heck just happened?” Just gotta hope it’s not one of their movies where you have to ask “Why did I watch this?” I still remember watching the Green Knoght in the theater. My lady hated it, while I enjoyed it and a large part of the theater room emptied by the halfway point. One of the few movies I went to see with a large amount of walkouts
