That's actually what I had hoped would be the case for The Predator. Altruistic Predator gets shot down trying to bring alien tech to humanity to fight a common enemy in the Super Predator, but ends up killing an investigation party in self-defense, then the Super Predator lands and it becomes a three-way hunt as the Predator tries to help humanity and/or make it out alive, humans try to kill the aliens, and the Super Predator does its Super Predator self-experimentation thing.

That may be, but at least it's something DIFFERENT.  As much as I love (most of) the Predator franchise, there's only so many ways to tell the same story.

I dunno, I've always seen the Predator as neither a bad guy or a good guy type of a character, it's just a hunter. That's what they are, they hunt for stronger prey. I'm willing to at least wait for a trailer and see how it goes since hollywood always unveils way to much and spoils the crap out of a movie. After that, guess kind of go from there.

Lately I've been thinking just a straight Predator: Colonial Marines would be nice.  Make it a younger Pred that doesn't have all the best toys yet and make it learn that its prey is a little more advanced than it thought they were.  The motion tracker to defeat the cloak would be a good match up.

The point is that our idea of ethical is by no means universal.

The only times a Predator has 'worked' with human has been in situations of-preservation or under an Honor-code. Either one of those is a good starting point.

I mean it's no secret and all that stuff, but I think it's a smart move to keep at it so we can build up to a proper AVP film after those first two dismal movies. Even with the rumors of Alien Earth hading teased a predator in their trailer.
