The most erotic thing in Macross Frontier is........

what about Minmay in DYRL when you could see her nippels  (under the shower)

Well, that´s pure fanservice. You could as well then put Sheryls ultra-skimpy costume during her concert in there. I´d prefer we stick to scenes between characters, if we are going with "sexual content". ^_^

"Battle Frontier, ready main batteries! FIRE!"

What? Why is everyone looking at me like that?

I'm right there with you, although I find Armoured VF-25's shooting their load (of missiles) far sexier. It's called Mecha Pr0n for a reason. B))

Hmm... Most erotic thing. I'd say other than the animation, story line and the music. Any scene with the Big Mac and quarter pounder, mmm... giant mecha porn.

You've been here as long as I have. You should know by now kids these days think about p0rn all day long.

And old guys who grew up watching Macross try to step away from the obvious innuendoes of Macross Frontier?

I am not sure if I got the facts right but does Macross Frontier broadcasts at 1:00 am in Japan, meaning it is not meant for kids anyway, who are more interested in live action porn than suggestive manga/anime? Anyway, isn't Japanese anime in general quite heavily chargedwith sexual overtones anyway?

Oh, I am with the people who voted for the locker scene. Besides that, Klan Klan is probably the character who's mecha I'd like to see in toyform the most!! Better with an accurate figure piloting it!

Macross F is totally sexually charged... Seeing Minmei's tatas didn't give me a boner, it made me embarassed.

The only characters/situations with characters that turn me on are the ones with Hayase and KlanKlan.

Um, the locker scene was probably the most erotic thing I've ever seen in Macross.

God though, KlanKlan is effin hot.

Even if she's not real I'd totally hookup with her.

2nd most erotic was when Michael is practicing sniping and Klan's all like "come in, it's late"... and michael says something like "Are you asking me to spend the night with you?" and Klan gets all flustered. hehe, I loved that.

As a sidenote, the sexual charge in Macross F is SOOO strong, I don't dare let my gf know I even watch it, let alone watch it with her. There's just too much boobaction going on.

Best,

Called fan service. I've never made a big deal about it. :)

I don't think I can find Macross Frontier erotic, at least not in any meaningful definition of eroticism. That's just not the kind of thing I'm getting out of the show when I watch it. I certainly do find the artistic depiction of the female form in Macross Frontier pleasing and even titillating to a certain degree, but it's definitely not evoking the same reaction I get watching live action erotica or when pursuing a relationship with a girl. And that part of me is definitely incapable of deception :)

I think a lot of it has to do with the nature of anime fan service. Unless you're watching hentai, the sexual innuendo and depiction is intentionally unfulfilled. Since it's made for kids, none of the characters ever get down and if they do, the depiction of coupling is so sanitized (read: Cathy's flashback with Ozuma) there's nothing worth getting excited over. Anime is also very far removed from reality, much more so than even the most escapist live action. Ultimately that unreality is what makes anime so appealing and animation in general so unique. But it also makes it much harder for me to connect any truly erotic feelings when watching it. Porn is already awful because it's too contrived and hurts suspension of disbelief, but there is a much stronger instant gratification when one watches it compared to anime.

Anyway, kind of a strange topic :)

So we're slowly evolving devolving into 4chan?

Well we do see an influx of younger members since Frontier was aired who happen to be less shy and less tactful. B))

Oh come on now, since when has sexuality been limited to the younger ones? i REFUSE to believe that! hehe. :p

I think there is still a distinction between those who noticed some "sexual tension" in a particular scene and those who are actually and honestly "turned on" by a scene or a character...(you know who you are!!). the first is, i think, a valid topic of discussion. the second... well... to each his own... hehe. :p

I guess "erotic" was just not the right word to use. ^_^

I didn't find the cellphone and locker thing erotic or turn-on at all, I'm surprised that a lot of people are voting for it. I thought it was funny :D

And for those people who are face-palming this thread, lighten up! The people who post in this thread are not always thinking of sex as you guys think (even the alleged fact that males think of sex every 6 seconds is a fallacy you know) The writers of the animation really wanted to put in some sexiness when they designed the voluptuous female characters and wrote the script to the locker scene, or the scene where Sheryl's dress gets undone, so why not discuss it? People can't always talk about technical specifications and analyze plot twists... just lighten up once in a while! It's good for your brain cells not to be frying them all the time (although don't relax it too much, the cells might die from atrophy, haha) :)

I started this thread and I am 35 (NOT a kid). I think that most people like to think about and look at beautiful members of the opposite (or same) sex. Those who claim that they don't are often in denial.

Yeah, the thing is that it's a cartoon. Sorry, some of us don't find drawings "erotic."

You even mention bringing out the "inner pervert." Some of us enjoy or are at least trying to enjoy the series for other reasons. Some of us get annoyed that the new series panders to such an audience.

As I said, it's called fan service. I guess I've been desensitized to it over the years.

We've got a lot of votes for the locker scene so far. ^_^

To those who voted: there's one thing bugging me though...did Sheryl...you know...ever...reached her peak in there?

If she did, then that makes the locker scene WAAAAY hotter!

Girls getting the big "O" is always is huge turn on for me!

Once again, I don't consider myself to be a "younger" member of this forum or even a new one (I have been lurking since Macross Zero) I think that this series has so far been a good exploration of the nature of human beings and its depiction of sex and nudity has been pretty good without falling into hentai. It has shown most of the cast as being interested in relationships with others (a normal human trait) and I like the fact that they portrayed even the Captain as a man who is interested in "companionship".

A lot of SF (but not all, of course) pretty much ignores romantic character interaction except for the "hero gets the girl" cliche. I dunno why this is. I was watching an old episode of Star Trek Next Gen last night and was surprised that this program had no idea of how to portray romance in SF.

I am surprised that some people in this forum are demonstrating the attitude that this is a taboo subject. There is nothing wrong with open discussion of eroticism in any art form (unless it is child porn, of course). Its hardly like the question is which character has the biggest boobs. (I admit I did say release your inner pervert, but that is a thing called humor.)

Yeah, the thing is that it's a cartoon. Sorry, some of us don't find drawings "erotic."

Do you draw the line at paintings as well? Drawing, paintings and animation are classified as art (as well as entertainment) and for thousands of years there has been erotic art. I'm not just talking about pervy stuff and porn either. Look up the French impressionists and how they portray women in their art. Great stuff without being "rude". I guess that if you don't find drawings erotic thats down to you, but some of us do like it.

You even mention bringing out the "inner pervert."

As I have already said, that was a joke. A play on words from subheading from the "Who is going to die in Frontier" thread that I started. (remember the "release your inner vulture") If you look at a lot of subheadings here you will find that they are humourous.

Some of us enjoy or are at least trying to enjoy the series for other reasons. Some of us get annoyed that the new series panders to such an audience.

If you are enjoying the show for other reasons thats fine with me, but I don't think its fair to rain on the parade of others who are enjoying the series for its romantic/erotic content as well. The creators have created ALL of the content of this show, so I think that people have to be more accepting of ALL of the shows content. (I'm not saying that you have to like it though"

As I said, it's called fan service. I guess I've been desensitized to it over the years.

Thats down to personal preference too.

It may as well be "which character has the biggest boobs?" But we've already had 2 threads on that, right? So please, continue the heady discussion of which scene made peoples' palms sweat most.

Sorry that we are not all monks and nuns. (That is a joke, just to let you know)

I agree with Mr. March honestly that "erotic" isn't the best word to use.

You're comparing fan service from an anime to impressionist paintings (and by extension other forms of high art)? That's a bit of a stretch.

I have yet to see a post with any substance outside of your own defending the legitimacy of the topic. It may as well be about the character with the biggest boobs.

Sorry that we are not all monks and nuns. (That is a joke, just to let you know)

I'm waiting for your thread to blossom into the rigorous discussion of the high art that is Frontier. :)

I was about to point this out too. Even printed pin-ups of nude women are just ink if you think about it (may even be Photoshopped). And videos are just pixels and binary. But then they all represent female bodies, and depending on how imaginative a person is, could work all the same way. How realistic does ink and pixels have to be, to be erotic? That's personal preference.

I don't know why this thread has turned out to be a debate like this, it was just meant to be for fun right? I saw humor the moment I read the first post. Perhaps the better way to discuss the issue is to make a really serious thread that discusses your distaste for fan service in Frontier or in any other animation. (But then, last I saw, the anti-loli thread was deleted even if the people discussing were very civil.)

Well, if I listen to you and not the OP, then this thread is just as silly as every other "boobs" thread.
