odr78 Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 just curious but why aren't any tried on the yf-19? The SV-51 is more like a Sukkoï or a Mig than a YF-19
miriya Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 Great work. I look forward to seeing the finished job. Really nice.
charger69 Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 Magnifique! Allez, un peu plus d'effort, et on va avoir une SV-51 monumentale!
Sumdumgai Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 Absolument superbe! Bonne chance avec les touches finales.
Dante74 Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 That looks absolutely awesome! If Yamato doesn't do this scheme I might have to try this myself. The heatshield could use a metal look though instead of the current black.
Nexx2 Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 It's beautyfull, congratulation Ghostkiller !
dizman Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 Wow that is a fantastic custom, very nice work (and it's not even done yet?). Sigh, im really hoping Yamato has enough sense to make a dobber custom. Everyone here would buy one at least.
Scream Man Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 looks great so far man. I think it needs a little more blue, but then u say it isnt done so maybe u agree.
MaveRick Posted November 19, 2007 Posted November 19, 2007 now that's how a custom should be.. looking great already!! wish i had your skill... and guts as well
isamu_dyson Posted November 19, 2007 Posted November 19, 2007 (edited) Trés beau travail ghostkiller If yamato will make one, i hope it'll be that great Edited November 19, 2007 by isamu_dyson
Ghostkiller Posted November 19, 2007 Author Posted November 19, 2007 hello guys ok main painting body done for me I may leave it here like that and apply decals that I have not found yet by the way and do the weathering some more painting must be done for the finition some bit of metallic grey here and here on the legs What do u guys think ??? any requirement ??? your ideas are welcome of course !!!!!
KiriK Posted November 19, 2007 Posted November 19, 2007 very very clean paint job... excellent work =]
Grand Admiral Posted November 19, 2007 Posted November 19, 2007 That looks great! I really hope Yamato releases a scheme like this because I don't think I'm brave enough to paint a $200 toy of my own.
miriya Posted November 19, 2007 Posted November 19, 2007 Great work Ghostkiller! There is one thing that I would suggest is to color in with black or gray those air intake slits that run diagonally at the back end near the jet engines/feet. That is really the only thing I would recommend. The paint job is fabulous. I do think that it would look even more awesome with some weathering and some subtle panel lining. You Rock! May I ask how many hours you have put into this mod so far (including taking it apart and reassembly.)?
penachoy Posted November 19, 2007 Posted November 19, 2007 WOW! Ghostkiller gusty move man but very impressive. You should take different pictures of the different modes. Then someone needs to post it in the CUSTOM section. Great piece of work Ghostkiller!!!!.....
eugimon Posted November 19, 2007 Posted November 19, 2007 wow, looks great. I wish for purposes of photography the light blue and grey were a little more distinct but it still looks amazing. I love how clean it looks. Please post up some closer shots in sunlight if possible.
Dobber Posted November 19, 2007 Posted November 19, 2007 Nice Job Ghostkiller! You are making me want to paint my one and only Yamato SV-51 justt like my Hasegawa SV-51. Again, nice job! Chris
charger69 Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 (edited) We need B MODE! BTW, A comparison shot In my opinion, Ghostkiller's SV-51 needs one more shade of lighter blue overall (which is equal to crazy masking). Also I prefer upper sides of the lower legs in black, and black ankle lines where the feet starts. Edited November 20, 2007 by charger69
David Hingtgen Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 I would do something with the legs--they're too monochrome when viewed from above. Either black like Dobber's (I think Nora's is black there too) or continue the splinter camo across them. In the end I think it came out looking more like the actual Ukranian splinter camo pattern--which is what the NSAWC F-14's camo was supposed to imitate I think. But the colors are basically the original standard Flanker colors. I've included drawings of both the current blue splinter pattern, and the original more grey scheme.
charger69 Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 My attemp to SV-51 Dobber by Ghostkiller retouch
Arthurius Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 I like Ghostkiller more than the other one, wow, nice job!!!! Beautifull.
Chronocidal Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 That's a beautiful job, the scheme really fits that plane well. I agree with the idea about the darker parts on the legs, but I'd compare it to the CF SV-51 pics just released.. they would look good dark, but blending them with the camo pattern would work just as well. Only big difference I notice is the overall amount of blue being less on yours, not in the amount of patches, but in the size of them. It'd probably be tough to add more now though, so don't risk it if you like it the way it is.
Dobber Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 for mine I used 1 grey and 3 blues, and on Ghostkillers it looks like 2 grey's and 2 blues. Chris
David Hingtgen Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 Depends on your definition of grey vs blue---all the greys are blue-greys and most of the blues are grey-blues.
Dobber Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 True . More or less....to the eye then. Chris

Ghostkiller Posted November 20, 2007 Author Posted November 20, 2007 for mine I used 1 grey and 3 blues, and on Ghostkillers it looks like 2 grey's and 2 blues. Chris HEY DOBBER I used 1 grey and 2 blues I could not find a third blue that I liked really........ shots would be better during the day it is true that the flash does change it I think cheers
