All Things Videogame Related: EXTREME VS!!

Titanfall looks cool, too bad it is multiplayer only. Strange as it sounds I play games for the story. One of many reasons that I don't buy consoles.- 6879 replies

That is looking freaking awesome and my wife said I can preorder it as soon as a preorder comes up. Let's see if we can get a higher res scan though, this one is quite dark, leading to DH's canopy color fears. I just want to see how the heck they did the wing mechanism. It looks like there might be a slot in the root/leading edge of HS mode, and maybe that is a hinge visible at the roots leading edge in battrodi mode. The resolution makes it hard to tell though.

I saw it a couple weeks ago. It wasn't terrible, but it wasn't great either. It called back much more the comic book source material, which was good, but was hampered by having to call back to the first movie, which was terrible. The extra scenes with Channing Tatum just felt poorly tacked on and unneccesary. I would have preferred if they just rebooted the whole thing, instead we got a sort of soft reboot, throwing out most of the crap from the first movie and focussing on a small corps of characters. This could lead into a fun series of movies, but doubt it will, that first movie will always hold it back in that regard. The overall plot was much more like the 80s cartoons, and could have been done better but I doubt that a good live action GI Joe movie will ever be made at this point, which is too bad because I was such a fan of the 80s comics and toys.

Saab jets in general have a unique beauty that many people just don't get. I still love the draken, viggen, and the gripen, they might not be the prettyist girls at the dance, but they are still pleasing the eyes and sure know how to move and can get right down to business. As for the Czech Tiger Meet scheme, that is freaking psychedelic, but don't the czechs usually have some of the best and most unique TM schemes?

Right, it could be dual purpose, but it's primary role is as a form of armor.
-
That is the point of the thread coron. What is the unit that covers the canopy, a heat shield or armor? The only time it is ever mentioned in the animation is when Hikaru reenters to rescue Misa, and says to deploy the heat shield, the animation then shows the chest armor extend. So people started calling it the heat shield. That really doesn't make a lot of sense though, as it is clearly armor to protect the canopy while in battroid mode. It's just one of those examples of an animation or production mistake confusing fans for years on end.

So what are you willing to pay for Arcadia YF-19?

This will be my first valk in many years if it is less than $400, already gotten the OK from my wife on that. -
The first movie started out as an interesting deconstruction of the superhero/comic book movie genre. It devolved however into just another superhero origin story with over the top violence and some humorous moments. I will give it props for, unlike most other superhero movies, showing that most those these "Real world" superheroes are people with severe mental and emotional issues. Even the title character is a kid with issues who is having problems with the real world due to the loss of his mother never being addressed. Of course that is true of most superhero characters, mommy issues. As for the Jim Carrey issue. He is an @$$ hat, get over it. Were he the star of the movie I wouldn't even consider seeing it. There are certain actors/actresses whose movies I refuse to see if they star in them, unless there is a very compelling reason. Overall I think Carrey's role will be much like Cage's in the first movie, a secondary one that viewers will not have to focus on. I also agree with Keith that if Carrey has such issues with the role he should donate his paycheck to a charity, that will never happen though because Jim Carrey, like many of his ilk, is a hypocrit. That being said, if he had such issues with the role he never should have taken it. Will I see it in the theaters, no. Will I see it when it hits netflix, maybe.

MacrossWorld Convention 2013 Information Thread

It's been many a year since I attended and I want to this year, but it all depends on the what happens with the job hunt and the furlough, ugh. -
Superman/Batman: Public Enemies would be an interesting take, especially the massive economic turmoil leading to Lex getting elected, that would fit nicely with the desctruction of Metro. I had two ideas though how to bring the Nolan'verse Batman into this movie though. 1: Bruce Wayne comes out of hiding. (assuming Bale and Hathaway will sign on). BW comes out of hiding following the destruction of Metra at the behest of his now dead friend and butler Alfred. He explains that Bane kidnapped and sent him away during the DKR and Alfred tracked him down and freed him. He was then nursed back to health by Alfred and his wife Selena Kyle-Wayne. BW is always seen with a cane due to his injuries, these are the injuries he actually sustained, and his batsuit has reinforced areas to help him fight. However a batman has been seen in gotham, this is Robin. The rest proceeds as I described before, and Selena joins in, or acts as "Oracle" helping out by giving batman intel. At the end BW meets back up with Robin who gives him a data packet on Hal Jodran, explaining what he witnessed while studying him. They add this to the files on other JL members they have been collecting. 2: Robin comes to Metro. (assuming Bale and Hathaway won't come back but might do cameos). Robin comes to metro to set up another home for lost boys in metropolis. The whole time he is getting intel from "oracle" on how to fight superman and to watch out for Lex. Wayne Ent is led by Lucius Fox, and he still provides equipment to robin/batman. At the end Bale can make a cameo revealing himself to be Oracle, or Selena to be the voice of Oracle as he gathers intel on all of the super powereds out there.

What's your issue with Anchorage? I'm looking at a job up there.

Ok, so using WF as the template and followin MoS, Lex Corp and Wayne Ind are the two main contractors rebuilding metropolis in the wake of the devestation wrought in MoS. The Batman follows as some Gotham badies have started to move in on Metropolis, taking advantage of the rebuilding effort. Lex hires some of the badies to hamper Wayne's efforts and take out Superman, seeing him as a threat to his rise to power and possibly to Earth as a whole. This casts Lex in a gray light, he wants what is best for him Supes finds out about Batman and oppossing his methods confronts him. Batman is prepared though and they have themselves a nice little brawl where Batman leads the fight into Lex Corp territory, making a mess of things there. The two then have to face down the big bad from Gotham, and get out of him/her that Lex hired them, but there is no proof. They take down the big bad and confront Lex, but with no evidence have to leave him in place, or have a "boss battle" with Lex in some kind of power armor. The movie then ends with Batman checking his computer and checking off ways to take down Superman as methods that might or might not work. There are several other files on his computer as well: Wonder Woman/Diana Prince, Green Lantern/Hal Jordan, the Flash/Wally West, etc...

The two characters out match each other in different ways. Supes outmatches Bats in strength unless Bats uses Kyrptonite. Bats outmatches Supes in brains, hands down. If this is to be a vs movie, and that is stupid it should follow that storyline from the animated series that brought the two animated series together. Wayne Corp moves to merge/ally with Lex Corp and expand into metropolis, drawing the Ire of Supes when Bruce Wayne horns in on Lois Lane. Wacky hijinks ensue and the pair eventually team up to bring down Lex and any Gotham baddies he brings in to take down Supes. Biggest problem there, MoS did not introduce Luthor as a villian. So then this movie will have to. Next problem, which Bats are we dealing with, a new Batman, in which case they have to retell his origin, or are they going to continue the Nolan verse and use a suddenly resurrected publicly Bruce Wayne, or his successor Robin? I like JGL as much as the next guy, but I can't really see him in the bat suit against Cavils Superman as well as I could see Bale. We will see however.
-
Eh, sounds ok if you know the source material, but too many moviegoers won't so you would spend too much time introducing the characters. Giant ensemble pieces like this require some backstory build up. That is why the Marvel/Avengerds movieverse works so well, give each major character their own film to introduce them, then throw them together. Not just throw them all together at once and tell their origins there.

Yes I know an odd topic, but where do we think Alaska Base was suppossed to be located? Let's face it Alaska is a big place, so is Alaska Base in the middle of no where or possibly colocated with an existing facility like Elmendorf or Eileson?

Ok I can accept them changing the invasion with its battles being a terrestrial one, but that video really seems to change how Rackam really won the battle, maybe it is just the propaganda version and not what Enders discovers- 46 replies
