  1. I get the feeling that they really only kept a military as a way of trying to give a sense of responsibility. In this case I guess it would be like boy scouts or Girl Scouts, but instead of learning how to sell cookies, they learn to pilot an odd abundance of robots. Maybe it would be more of an ROTC kind of program
  2. They work best on dull coats. And make sure to go a bit lighter since the top coat will darken them, kinda like adding water to dirt and then the mud is quite a bit darker. It takes some experimenting to get things right and sometimes it just takes adding another layer.
  3. Totally. A grind of mine showed me a while back that you can use a make up compact just like the tamiya weathering sets. It’s wild that we’re just giving our kits beauty makeovers.
  4. To me, the ditziness worked for the story. It wasn’t a group that just came out of a war. They were more of a bunch of kids that had never seen war, let alone much violence. There didn’t seem to even be an expectation that there ever could be combat. I think that’s why things were so chaotic. I’ve mentioned it before with the mecha design, I really do believe it mostly was designed for riots than for all out war. It works for me as an explanation for the uncovered modes on the Sparta. The military overall had a lack of organization and just seemed to do things as an afterthought. The planet they were on only seemed to have one city and yet had quite a bit of people in their military, probably more of a requirement but not taken too seriously. In the Robotech version things make less sense. They were just out of an apocalyptic war and quite a bit of the military would’ve been made up of people who were combat veterans of human or zentraedi origin and wouldn’t put up with their crap. The designs feel really out of place as well
  5. The 80’s brands are all pretty strong and have some pricey big items. I’m surprised every time I see something like the thunder tank or castle grey skull selling. And multiple large items for GI Joe . I don’t know what will happen when all the 80’s and 90’s kids grow up. I think most of the late 90’s kids won’t really be too interested in these brands. Most of the younger crowd are into anime rather than their parents nostalgia, but maybe that will keep some interest in the younger crowds rediscovering things in a similar way that something like dungeons and dragons has caught on. It probably would take something like a newer animated series to get the attention of the younger audience
  6. I was checking it out on instagram and it sounds like he’s still fine tuning the details. Maybe it will be better after that or maybe he might take some constructive criticism before everything is finished
  7. It’s Disney, so I’ll keep my expectations low, really low, really really low
  8. These were all the rereleases. They were purchased from hobbysearch. I’d appreciate the pictures so I know what to look for. I’m pretty sure mine were ok though, but just in case it would be good to see something for reference
  9. I just finished snipping and cleaning up the pets before I get into putty and paint, but I’ll have to double check mine. I don’t think they’re missing anything from what I saw. I didn’t know this was an issue.
  10. They started popping up fairly recently. They’re mainly marketed as a women’s beauty supply product, mainly for airbrushing nails. I swear, most of the tools I’ve been using for the modeling hobby have come from the women’s beauty section. Nail clippers, tweezers, glass file and soon to be a portable airbrush compressor to name a few
  11. I’m curious about it too. It sounds like a pretty good tool for when you don’t have the space or maybe a lot of time and just want to do something quick. I have a feeling that more complicated paint ing techniques and maybe the use of metallics might be easier with a standard compressor, but maybe things like a quick primer coat or top coats or even just a standard base coat might be pretty good. Also like you said the little parts that you just want to get done real quick would probably be great as well.
  12. That is pretty cool!
  13. That doesn’t seem like a fair fight. Wolverine can heal himself and has a super sniffer
  14. I did the same a couple nights ago. I’ve seen many resin kits around the nineties, but didn’t have the cash. This is one I was hoping for many years to see a good plastic kit.
  15. Wave kits in general are just a lot easier to get, at least as far as preorder and within a certain time after release. There isn’t the same crazy demand as there is with Bandai kits. Bandai has a lot of kit builders spoiled with tiny nubs and little cleanup and pre colored parts. It makes it tough for the smaller companies. But the smaller companies often times will have a subject that Bandai might totally ignore.
  16. I wasn’t a fan of the colors, but now I’m curious about it. I looked at Hobby Search and couldn’t find a listing there, but did see the Goodsmile listing. Maybe it was a web exclusive since the only other place I found it was a site that deals proxies for web exclusives
  17. Nope. The films have been lacking a bit as well. Guardians of the Galaxy was pretty good, but other than that the movies haven’t been so great either as far as writing. Disney has been a bit of a let down all around lately. There are a few exceptions here and there, but overall it’s been pretty sad for every franchise attached to Disney
  18. Was it a new version of Samus? Could it be a web exclusive, I know there were a couple of past versions available?
  19. I’m glad they’re gonna give Daredevil another chance, but it’s not gonna be what it was. I’ve been thinking more and more about getting rid of Disney plus. I should probably try secret invasion, but I only know one person that tried it and they said it wasn’t worth it. Right now I’ve only been watching some of the past content rather than the new since it’s been such a let down. Disney needs desperately to hire some great writers to keep their subscribers. They have access to some great franchises, yet over and over again they find a way to botch them. I used to think they were a great option to have with access to movies and shows not only from Disney, but Marvel and Lucasfilm as well. But the recent movie ms and shows have been mostly lame and I’ve lost the excitement I had a couple years ago for the service.
  20. You’re better off skipping them. She Hulk was the worst and most annoying of them and just an all around crappy show. And ms Marvel fizzled fast, with a super fluff story. Neither show really gained an audience and it’s a struggle to find anyone that actually bothered watching them
  21. Side F hg hobby Hi-Zack. Saw this at tag hobby. makes me hopeful that one day they finally will get around to the Hi-zack custom
