  1. Reading the instructions it seems the gunpod attachment piece is optional and only makes gunpod very solid in fighter mode. It's definitely renewal-worthy I think. Question for the early owners of this beauty : The instruction manual shows the karate-chop hands mounted for fighter mode. You could still have the new articulated hands in there, right? Got the payment notice from HLJ, I'm waiting for this purple beauty to show up somewhere next week
  2. I'm following the final season of Dexter... much more shame building up than pleasure though And John Carpenter is a genius, even his weakest movies can be considered masterpieces in regard of the majority of today's productions.
  3. Just gave up and ordered it, the godamn baillonnette on the gunpod made me do it!
  4. Great review ff95j! It's not really fair for that poor v1 though, since your photography skills have improved a lot since your first review. I'm in for this one and overall thrilled since I wasn't interested in Frontier when the v1 was released and skipped it. Are the articulated hands the same as the renewals or more like the vf-171? And I can't wait to hear more about the dreaded spacer piece.
  5. How low will HG get seriously? Roy must have done some really unforgivable things in his life to deserve this level of hell after his death. And does anybody know who's that blue elf who's having such a hard time holding his magic sword with two hands?
  6. Just paid for Otacute, finally Skull Squadron will be complete
  7. I tried to bring myself to get this one since it's Isamu and a Bandai exclusive that everyone can finally order but even that cool hero scheme I love can't sell me this design... damn my valkaddiction has weakened over time
  8. Damn, I think I need a couple of these too! I wonder if a 21 redesign is in Arcadia's plans too. It would be nice especially since the 19's battroid is going to be quite shorter
  9. Very nice, it's the first pics where it looks like a descent version of the VF-1. The hip joints seem also much longer than on the original kit which allows more natural poses. Strangely the head doesn't seem oversized at all in any of these shots, kudos to the photographer.
  10. Nice pictures! How poseable is it? I remember writing it off in favor of CM's mainly because of the head sculpt and the funky rubber joints, but it's still a very cool looking figure
  11. Fingers crossed for a new YF-21 next. Although I'm happy with the two I already own, I'll gladly take another rendition by Arcadia that matches this beauty. I'm a high speed mode supporter myself, and I'm really glad it was included in this toy besides it's the first transforming toy that would achieve this feat to my knowledge, it was also in one of the coolest scenes in M+ and appeared frequently in the Macross games on PSP (whenever you hit the afterburners). If they can make it and it's a lineart feature why not make it even if I'm never going to use it? I don't care for the wing missiles personally but I might change my mind in a few months who knows ?
  12. I thought it was a fun summer movie with riveting fighting scenes, all of them. I was amazed by the battles' epic scale and wasn't really bothered by the overall acting as I just felt it worked ok on its own. But then I got hit by the massively cheesy ending. For me it was a pretty good summer flick with outstanding visuals, I just wish I got out of the theatre hungry for more, but it didn't happen
  13. The time spent inside Bullock's helmet almost made me feel sick. I was really concerned that she seemed like she was going to puke from spinning around like that...
  14. It stands for DeluXe I believe and it designates a highend Bandai toyline
  15. Thanks Shaorin. Well that's good news then, the modeler must have done the effect himself using whatever magic potion. I've been looking for tips on various modeling forums to do this but never found a clue, this build is the first time I see it done by a modeler... unless it's just a trick of the light. Could it be residual soap from the first step when you're supposed to wash the parts by letting them rest in a bowl of water?
  16. Yes, the CM's figures are really awesome and can still be found at huge discounts. Ingram 1&2 is a good set to start with (1 main figure, 2 head sets and shoulder pads to turn it into labor 1 or 2), then try to get a Griffon. They also did 2 figure sets which had in scale crew and vehicles in addition to the main characters figures. If you want more there are other Patlabor figures that can be found for cheap on Amiami but they are definitely weaker releases from CM's, especially the Brocken which varies from pretty awful to downright nightmarish, depending of your luck : http://www.amiami.com/top/detail/detail?gcode=TOY-RBT-0670 http://www.amiami.com/top/detail/detail?gcode=TOY-RBT-0671 http://www.amiami.com/top/detail/detail?gcode=TOY-RBT-0441
  17. WOW, do I see a rainbow canopy in these pics?! Is it the basic look of the clear canopy or is it an effect added as for Yamato's first v2 releases? I'd love to get a tip on how to do this in order to restore the rainbow effect on my VF-1A Hikaru. Btw thanks to all of you guys who took the time to build this and share your experience building and posing the kit. It's kind of ironic that Bandai's model team was so willing to share infos about the early stages of this kit on a regular basis, there was at least 4 posts on this on Cybergundam with various corrections if I remember correctly, even showing that they had enlisted SK as a consulting design director. The final product however felt awkward from the first pictures although I was still hopeful at the time, knowing how pictures of the prototypes can make it look bad. I'll wait for an eventual DX, hopefully the guys who did this won't be involved.
  18. It looks fantastic, I can't wait for more reveals! Has anyone figured what the red thing is on that pic? I think Arcadia is playing mindgames with us. Maybe the hints mean they'll do MF girly figures, a transforming VF-0D and... and a helmet maybe?
  19. Damn, my total ignorance of basic military tactics has been exposed
  20. Thanks Electric Indigo, it is a YAK-130 just as Bri said. The weapon display arround it made me think of those Bandai Super Parts pics actually. The Sukhoi did some really impressive maneuvers, in comparison the Rafale's demo was pretty straightforward and there's little doubt about who would have won in a dogfight situation
  21. Here's a few pictures I took at the Paris Airshow last weekend. I'm a total novice to photography and most of the time I forgot to adjust the speed or the framing so most pics have been thrashed, these are the crippled survivors : creepy Drones the ugly Eurofighter the sexy Sukhoi Su-35 weathering on the Jaguar a Rafale Amidala's P-38 trying to take an artsy pic and failing miserably russian copter with coaxial rotor flight demos
  22. It's maybe just a few frames but a damn cool few frames where they blow all these windows! It's also present in the games whenever you hit the throttle. For me It's really not a deal breaker neither but since Yamato's 21 can do it I always felt like the 19 missed a feature.
  23. I don't care about moveable flaps either, but if this one could pull off the high speed mode it would be very cool and the first time for any 19 toy I think
