  1. I took apart the cockpit on my Milia and you were right Keiichi, the problem of the non locking nosecone was caused by that screw sticking out a bit too much. I just gave it a turn and it was back in place, and now the nosecone goes down all the way and locks perfectly. Thanks a lot for the advice!
  2. Thanks a lot for the info Keiichi, I'll check my Milia closely and see if I can find that misplaced screw!
  3. I think it's a nice anime YF-21 battroid but Yamato's 1/60 is till the definitive representation of the mecha for me I noticed my Milia VF-22S nosecone doesn't lock in battroid. There's a glitch on one of the tabs on the metal hinge (the double hinge bar that moves the intakes up when transforming to battroid) that is supposed to lock the cockpit down and it prevents the cockpit to lock on one side, making the whole cockpit piece unpeg very easily. It can be fixed but I'd have to scratch the paint on the metal piece to take away the excess paint. I also noticed a clean 5mm long "cut" on the hip piece from the where the balljoint articulation is inserted to the seamline on the left hip piece(the other half of the hip is OK). It doesn't alter transformation or durability though but I thought I'd give the head's up, just in case someone else wants to check there's.
  4. I got mine this week, no problems at all. I remember popping off a shoulder the first time I transformed my 1J because the joints were very stiff out of the box.
  5. This looks phenomenal! The problem for me is that I can't choose between Yamato and Bandai, I want both... Damn!
  6. Fantastic custom, sir The nosecone looked already great to me, can't wait to see your upgraded one. Did you put a magnet in the nosecone like Yamato did on the SV-51 or is it held by friction?
  7. Wow! Thanks a lot for the nice pictures ff95gj Does the backpack with the superparts droop down because of the extra weight when in battroid or does it hold in place?
  8. I would say 1/55, when I compare it to the Yamato VF pilot figures they look almost in the same scale
  9. Overall I don't read a lot of SF but Hyperion by Dan Simmons is a very good book, well written and great storyline. Back in the 90's I also had a great time reading "Striper Assassin" from Nyx Smith. That was a Shadowrun book btw which isn't generally a sign of good writing but this one is the exception, I really loved it, even more than William Gibson's books I read afterwards.
  10. Actually I'd really love if the final version was done in the same kind of glossy plastic that the Ingrams were made of, that would make it look just like it did in the show
  11. Outstanding customs alchemo! Did you customize the 19's visors too? if so would you mind giving some tips on how did you do that mod, I'd love to try that on mine too Great job on VF-22s as well
  12. It looks like it just got out of the anime... it looks even better actually! I just hope it won't break my wallet as easily as it breaks the wall of sound
  13. I never thought I'd want this, but after watching some Mac7 episodes I'm definitely a fan of the karaoke valk Lucky it's also one of Bandai's reissued figures in next February 2011
  14. There are some nice pictures from Wewe on the previous page that show the 11C's tailfins out
  15. New pictures of the hi-metal VF-1s on Cybergundam's blog : Looks like Bandai opted for DYRL Roy pilot finally, I wonder if he's swappable with a TV Roy since the TV hands and super parts are also provided.
  16. I don't see no arm armors on any of these and some even have a 1J head with 1S paint so I guess these are still working versions Unfortunately it doesn't look too good so far, but I'm still quite confident Bandai won't ruin Roy's valkyrie.
  17. I got my VF-1J Hikaru from Amiami as well and asked for the unregistered SAL shipping for it which costed me something like 1500yens (but it also included shipping of an EnergerZ SOC figure so the VF1J alone should be cheaper). Btw how much bigger is the VF-19S's box compared the VF-1J's? 6500 yens really isn't bad at all for the VF-1S and the parts apparently come with super or strike types. The shape of the head lasers on the pictures do seem a little off to me but these might just be the soft vinyl ones which looked a bit goofy on the 1J too.
  18. From what I understand of the CAD pictures of the chest area, the upper chest does lock to the lower part of the body by inserting the neck plate into the nosecone, very nice if so! It's looking a bit strange so far though, the head seems a tad too big to me but I must admit I never watched that Macross series so it may be just me
  19. Nothing flopping on mine either, but the backpack was annoying me a little bit in battroid mode until I pressed it down a little and it also locked the hinged panel on the back of the head in closed position. I'm overall very pleased with this toy, it's really fun to pose and looks great in all modes, a very expressive figure that makes me want to collect more of these hi-metal valks. And the Hi-metal YF-21 prototype is definitely on the top of my wishlist
  20. Great review as usual, Jenius As to comparing your pictures with the lineart I think it's a great idea. Though there might be some linearts (like the one of battroid VF-1J for example) that I'm very happy that this toy doesn't follow too closely... the Toynami looks closer to that battroid lineart to me I also just received a VF-1J w. super parts from the HLJ sale offer from a few weeks ago and a shoulder snapped on the first transformation... it still looks great in battroid on the shelf but that arm is only waiting to fall off next time I touch it Hopefully the Bandai VF is more user friendly and also looks more fun to pose in battroid
