  1. I knew about him and his involvement in Space Dandy (being french helps of course ). First heard of him when he was working on Oban Star Racer but I wasn't aware he actually worked with Kawamori himself! There's another gaijin worth of notice currently working on Space Dandy, his name is Bahi JD and his animation work is mindblowing. He's basically behind the crazyness that happnd at the end of episode 1. There's an interview of him here (he also did some work on Kids on the slope) : http://www.pelleas.net/aniTOP/index.php/interview-with-bahi-jd and he's got a TumblR : http://bahijd.tumblr.com/
  2. I just watched episode 1 of Ping Pong, from anime Mind Game director Masaaki Yuasa. AMAZED by the animation style, story and characters.
  3. Fantastic, thanks for the video! That's a great way to advertise for the upcoming series.
  4. There was some good moments in this movie but overall I can barely think of anything memorable. The first movie had me with that incredible transformation of Steve Rogers, this SFX alone blew my mind. In this new opus, there was lots of noisy gun shooting, some loud booms but no such magic here. The part with Nick Fury at the beginning was entertaining, and some other scenes such as Cap's escape from the Shield building or the sequence on the highway, the relentless black ops Hydra goons, but that wasn't enough to make me want to spend another 2 hours rewatching it later. Also there's a format that every Marvel movie should have its amount of funny punchlines. It's a great idea, but they should hire proper writers to back it up.
  5. Wow, Kill la kill's final episode left me wanting more of this epic nonsense!!
  6. With all these little extras revealed near the release date I really doubt a toy release can get much better than this. Hats off to Arcadia, this YF-19 will remain the ultimate rendition of this design for many years!
  7. I loved their Mospeada stuff, as flawed as it was, and it certainly was, they have the highest history of releases regarding Mospeada. Their Patlabors are awesone as well and I doubt any company has released that many Patlabor toys altogether. Their MAS releases, namely PeaceMaker and Broken, were total junk though, but they still look good and make a great display set with the rest of CM's Labors. Overall a great legacy remains in my collection, I'm glad I got their items and I doubt another company will ever commit to these 2 animes the way CM's corp did. Maybe this is what will shortly happen to all toy companies, but I think there will always be a place for a cool items people can grab or display. 3D printing era is just around the corner and next decade might see it becoming a very common and popular home device.
  8. Extremely impressive, as usual. Are you planning on adding the missile hatches too?
  9. You know it might be just wishful thinking but I see a future behind this release. Arcadia will release the most likely item to sell well among capital ships, SDF-1 DYRL version. After this one, Arcadia might release other capital ships, SDFM TV version, Macross7, whatever they have the license of. It's a much less risky way to sell these since the pricing is set much lower than a 1/3000 version. And given the bonuses this first release comes with and the transformation gimmick, I'm not under the impression it's that much overpriced but I might be wrong about this, the first reviews will tell I guess.
  10. Kill la kill is an incredibly fun and stupidly cool anime, it almost made me forget how desperate I am for attack on titan's second season. Cool Ryuko, Vepariga, love the look on her face, it's spot on character. Well done! Heres's a couple of flip books I did on flipbook.in. The site is japanese speaking and I've no idea how to save these as gif files to post here so here are the links : http://flipbook.in/id/1392674361 http://flipbook.in/id/1392860778
  11. I'm not too worried about the new potential issues. The only "bad" (in my opinion) design choice I see on this toy design is the articulated flaps on the vertical stabilizers which have to be moved when the ankle is moved back. I'm not sure why it's been done this way and It's not even a big problem but I wish it would have been done differently. The old yf-19 wasn't that bad in this regard. I'm still thinking of keeping the v2 in fighter fully loaded with missiles and the V1 will stay in battroid next to his rival YF-21, since this new version while likely also be as short as the vf-19.
  12. Seeing all the stellar mods you've performed on this kit I'm really looking forward to seeing what you'll come up to mod the hip area which was my biggest gripe against it. That pilot figure looks amazing, specially for this size, hats off to you sir!
  13. Is this really a VF-0D? The head looks more like the VF-25A/G to me. The long cape is cool but I'd prefer a shorter one as well, more like this :
  14. You'll love it, no doubt! After watching all the available episodes I was so overwhelmed by it that I checked the original manga. However the artwork made me stop after a few pages too, I must say it looks quite amateurish and I'm relieved it got its full blown anime show because the story/characterization is a gem.
  15. I finally saw this movie and it was a waste of time and money. Not only does it not come close to the first movie (Kenneth Branagh is sorely missed in the director's chair) but it fails to be anything else but an unimaginative sequel with lots of money injected into the production with zero braincells used in the process... I felt like watching a demo from the SFX teams from Star Trek and LOTR movies merged into one which in a way could be great unless you expected an actual story being told, no trace of that here. While I can't say there was obviously bad acting, I was really let down by the character's writing too. Most of the humor fell flat with only a few successful funny lines in the final battle, but overall much facepalming. The humor in the first movie and the relationship between Hemsworth and Portman was well written and acted. In this sequel the actors are still delivering but the material is so dumbed down an unimaginative. The LOTR piece of war at the beginning felt like a rip off. And minutes after the war is over because Thor wiped out a giant guy ("we should start with the big one next time") you can hear children's laughter... seriously? People tear each other's guts out with swords and axes and the next minutes you get children playing around and laughing among piles of dead bodies? This movie was irritating at best and nowhere near as harmless as the first one which really says how bad it made me feel watching it. It's been a long time since a Marvel based movie felt this poor (definitely not in need of more money) uninspired and lamely written. Thanks to the high value production it's a big ass show with lots of cool visuals to enjoy if you're into that kind of stuff but story wise it is a complete failure. I was expecting much better from this sequel and Marvel. It's marked 66% on Rotten Tomatoes so I guess it's not as catastrophic as I felt it was...
  16. I do want it, even if everyone else is pass on this one I think it looks cool, especially with the in-scale city bit underneath. I think it'll look awesome next to my 1/3000. Also the small scale makes the transformation even more impressive, it reminds me of what the Hi-Metal line attmpted. Maybe it'll fail for the very same reasons though, but I'll support it regardless
  17. lol! Let's hope someone filmed it, I thought Arcadia had stated they would post it on their blog, maybe I got that wrong
  18. Weren't we promised a transformation video by Mr K at WF guys?
  19. Indeed it looks very promising! Every new episode so far confirms this is one of the best animes I've seen lately. I also wonder at what point is Otomo involved in this.
  20. Cool item, I wish I could get one but if the impossibility of grabbing WF specials from outside Japan wasn't enough, the sub-orbital price tag and potential hassle of getting weapon-like replicas through customs are nullifying all chances to get it. It would look stunning next to some VF-1 helmets, too bad...
  21. When I heard Chris Whitley sing and play for the first time a few years back he was already gone. I envy the people who were able to witness his live performance
  22. I'll have to rewatch Macross Zero to check if the 0D appears with a micro misile pod but for me there's no doubt about it, can't wait!
  23. Damn that Armored 1/48 is really imposing, Mog. Here's a couple of not so striking poses. I'm eargerly waiting for Arcadia's YF-19 but I still love this old one, it still looks cool next to the yf-21.
  24. Damn, even MacrossJunkie's superb weathering work on this valk does not redeem this design for me. I hope I'll be more interested in it when I see it in person but I doubt it and the super parts version looks even worse... Damn you, completist collecting compulsion!
  25. I'm watching Space Dandy and Kill La Kill and both are fantastic, best animes I've seen in years, even comparing to the level of greatness of Attack on Titan. Animation-wise I prefer these 2 animes to tAttack on Titan, Kill La Kill especially is mindblowing
