That's not quite what I'm getting from gleaning the comments on Twitter about it: https://twitter.com/t_features/status/2038873935316480311 here's a partial snapshots of the web-translated comments so far: And yea, the F-14 still turned out to be the hero-jet of TG:Maverick. The comments above make it seem the jp-fans are also much aware of that fact.

Bandai 1/60 VF-25 DX MESSIAH VALKYRIE Top Gun: Maverick Ver.
PointBlankSniper replied to seti88's topic in Toys
Not sure why everyone is complaining about it being not a VF-1 based on the F-14... This is literally the scheme of the F/A-18 from the recent sequel. And the VF-25 is heavily based on the F/A-18. Nakamura Yuichi also voiced Alto and dubbed over Tom Cruise. The jp fans are actually hyped about the voice actor reference of this. They obviously can't sell VF-1 under the Macross name where the Top Gun branding is targeted for. And It's also a common pop culture convention to get collaboration rights for the most recent title from the guest IP. They are also clearly targeting young western fans of the new movie, and not hoping boomer followers of the original to suddenly change their habbits and go out of their way to find marketing of this release and start collecting japanese toys. -

Did another rewatch of the trailer and it looks yellow to me. Honestly it doesn’t even look off world. Kinda like some of the out of the way spots on the way to palm desert or something. I’m sure most of the movie is off world, but it’s kinda hard to tell other than the aliens and some of the tech

I don't think I have the eyes, hands or patience for that... Well done! I realized I mentioned my new workbench but didn't post any pics: and I made some slight progress on the Mig tonight: clearcoat and the first few decals

Yeah, that's a pretty easy and simple solution, but it did occur to me that the open arm does prevent held weapons from getting completely off-kilter due to collisions. Probably the only benefit to it, but I wonder if the reason it slipped by them could be because of how the Legioss's arms are always drawn as being rotated outward, which has never made any sense to me.

It is kind of a headscratcher for Bandai to be directly homaging TopGun:Maverick with a DX VF-25F instead of... the DX VF-1 since it is based on the F-14 and all, but barring some licensing-shenanigans again, how about.. the DX YF-19 since Macross Plus has always been associated with Top Gun in the west and no weirdo licensing-shenanigans issue anymore with it. As for the VF-0, tho quite more apt after the VF-1, unfortunately, Bandai has not made a DX version of it. As such, all I can think of is that Bandai has a rather tremendous over-supply of overproduced and unsold DX VF-25F frames due to the Revival and MWW sales failure. Painting and selling these as "TG:Maverick" stuff maybe a hail mary pass to still get some ok ROI, at least...

Super Macross Mecha Fun Time Discussion Thread!
aurance replied to Valkyrie Driver's topic in Movies and TV Series
No, it wouldn't be that bad. I touched on this before this thread, but that population size immediately after First War devastation (1 million) is orders of magnitude beyond what's needed for pretty problem-free breeding. (I was a molecular genetics major in college.) If there are hereditary disease issues, it's due to something other than just remaining population. Clustering, etc. But I find it hard to believe government policies/desire for society wouldn't solve that either, other than for the odd groups of hermits here and there. The Valyrian/European monarch gene pool limitations are on another scale altogether. There we're talking about a handful of people, maybe a couple hundred. That caused some problems. -

https://www.nasa.gov/live/ Here's where NASA's official stream's gonna show up. And "Spaceflight Now" is living up to the second half of their name, they're currently streaming the rocket sitting on the launchpad lookin' all pretty. -
I think this should be the standard method for fold-away hands across the board. It closes the arm up nicely and allows for wrist rotation at minimum. It should be THE WAY.

No, it's nowhere near that bad. Most sources agree that the number of Human survivors of the First Space War numbered approximately 1 million. -
I am a sucker for gray valks and I hope they do a VF-25G iceman next! I just wish Maverick was a VF-25S instead of F.

Hold on...just saw a transformation video of the Optimus Prime Fire Valk from Tomy...you know the people who made this new Legioss toy, and IT gets solid forearms but the Legioss doesn't? No one from the Legioss team ever looked over the cubicle on the Transformers side to see what they were doing and maybe borrow a really good idea???? come on!

Maverick helmet painted on the head? Air Force star and stripe on the wing. What the heck are the kill icons on the bottom of the cockpit? Does it say Pete Mitchell is the pilot? I feel this is a really really really strange crossover. Between the recent Transformers Basara toy to this, it seems Macross can't stand on its own so it needs to partner with a larger franchise. Guess that makes sense, the only show most US fans have seen was the original from Robotech, which isn't licensed here, and all the shows that are licensed have never been seen here, aside from recent streaming changes decades past air dates in Japan. Maybe these crossover items will get more eyeballs and fans into the franchise, which is really wonderful, just not sure this is particular valk is in my personal wheelhouse. (Not bashing this at all, just not my bag) Could someone do an DX Fire Valkyrie head with the mouth open and the Maverick helmet design?
-
Yeah, curious as to why Bandai chose the VF-25. Aesthetically, VF-0 or VF-1 would've been more apt. Sales for the most recent VF-25 releases doesn't seem all that great esp. the 25G and non-canon schemes

Kara is on a planet without a yellow sun, which weakens her powers, the same as Krypto's.

Hi all, just heads up. If you plan on watching ARTIMES II launching on April 1st (Wednesday evening) which is still a go, plan ahead with either YouTube or another streaming service. This isn't meant to be political, but POTUS is planning a big speech right around the time she'll be lifting off, the news station will most likely cut away. So, if you don't want to see the launch knocked down to the lower right corner of your TV screen or nothing at all, plan ahead.
