  2. I had a very lengthy email discourse with the warranty people(?). It ended with them wanting me to disassemble my VF-1S(my air brake doesn’t sit flat, straight out of box) and send them the chest assembly with cockpit at my expense to Hong Kong, then they will try to fix it(take a few weeks) and then send it back to me. I told them that the cost of shipping isn’t worth disassembly of the jet and sending it to them for a non flush air brake, just send me the canopy assembly and call it good. I am waiting for a response. I have to say, my ThreeZero VF-1J had that disgustingly tight slide mechanism for the arms was a small trade off for all the QC problems I’ve had on the VF-1S. QC issues right out of box: -wing landing light assembly not glued to wing -air brake does not sit flat -canopy attachment assembly was not glued in from the factory and the canopy fell off multiple times -the actual canopy broke off of the attachment assembly while opening canopy Regardless of outcome, this will be my final ThreeZero VF-1 toy. Unless they offer something that curls my toes, like a 1/60 YF-4 or 1/60or 1/48 Alpha(Legioss) for now, I just can’t open the canopy, it will still transform and stuff. Not what I want to be dealing with on a $180 transforming jet. Twich
  3. There IS a special tool just for spring pins. You want a "roll pin punch". (searching google for a "spring pin punch" will get you 99% "spring-loaded punches" and not what you want). It is very similar to a regular nail set, but with a "small ball" embedded on the tip. The ball goes into the pin, the edge of the set goes on the rim of the pin. I do have one (just for DX valks), I'll see if I can get the exact size of it later. ::edit:: It is a 1/16 in roll pin punch. I'm sure DX valks are actually metric, but it works. ::edit 2:: It's this one exactly (the model number is still on the package I keep it in) https://www.homedepot.com/p/TEKTON-1-16-in-Roll-Pin-Punch-66061/205820414
  4. A quick update today after a few tweaks and remappings. A bit further along on the head and all the body parts swapped out for something like the intended battroid mode. Plenty more to do, but getting close! Feedback and ideas welcome!
  5. Chapter 3 The big Escape is UP! This is the first of three chapters that cover episode 8 of the series, the only one scripted by Kodachi himself. We get a glipse into Keith's character and things start heating up: Avaliable here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1KaIKJpvf52E8816HZQnyCvBO_sCISJyDWG3FHC8kmL8/edit?usp=sharing
  6. Pretty much but I like Joe Keery and his Steve Harrington is my favorite character in Stranger Things.

  8. For sure. Breath of the Wild lets players in on Link's more intrusive thoughts:

  10. Like Stranger Things without getting stuck with the kids again
  11. She has a look on her face like she knows it
  12. Regarding playability, IMHO, it's superior to the old Yamato. The Yammie's strength is its gorgeous and extremely accurate fighter mode; beyond that it's not a very good toy to handle, especially its battroid with the too-skinny legs, loose ball-jointed hips, and tiny feet, all which contribute to making it rather unstable and difficult to pose. Contrarily, what the DX sacrifices in accuracy and concessions, it makes up in tight joints throughout making pose ability not only possible, but fun to experiment with. I display my valks in battroid mode, so this was a welcome figure for my display since retiring my Yamato to its box years ago. Anyway, congrats on the acquisition and I hope you enjoy it!
  13. I think I posted these pics in the wave section to justify odd scales in the show and how 1/72 kits could fit in with 1/100 ones, even when just putting a wave gerwalk on the same shelf as a hasegawa gerwalk
  14. Pepperidge Farm remembers There’s so much going on in these pages that people sometimes need a reminder every now and then. A lot of us are getting old and sometimes we forget some cool and important things
  15. Crazy cool stuff for sure
  16. Started to add a few things again
  17. Minor update. Still working on colors and proportions, but here's the completed new head in place. I like the overall feel of it (though that black eyeball needs to change), but think it might be missing something, or is maybe too helmet-like. Will continue to refine as I get the rest of the battroid together and see how it looks as a whole. Bit by bit...
  18. New Zealand is the place to make a fantasy movie! I recall back-packing through New Zealand in early 1999 not long after it was announced that the LOTR films would be made there, the whole country was excited for it!!
  19. my preference of the movies till now: 2, 3, 4, 1. I loved all of them though, and both 3 and 4 felt like it should have finished with them, but here we are... well, it is happening. Hopefully at least as good as 4, but not sure how they gonna pull it with everything that already happened. I dont see how else they are going to surprise us like they did with 3 and 4. So must lower my expectations.... down low... loooower... loooooooower. ok, let's see how this goes.
  20. Just loving the pics and videos on this. Would be all over this if i still wanted big scales, but only doing the 1/100, and really happy with the HMR, just that this is a whole new league of a toy, seems much better than my Yamato version i used to have.
  21. Thank you all for enjoying this build and all the wonderful compliments. It’s really endearing to read your kind words or encouragement. The custom 1/55 is a true sight to behold. Long live the KING!!!
  22. I agree. Too much of a straight off the factory line look, hahahaha. Maybe I’ll get back to it and mess it up a little. @Thom Yeah I agree. Trying to envision the battroid form fitting inside as a pilot.
  23. Is Link staring at Zelda’s butt? Seems lore accurate. 😅
  24. So I'm dragging this one up again to see if anyone has recommendations on how to theoretically disassemble the legs of the DX YF-19, or possibly just extract the metal pins holding the feet together. I've been wanting to swap out the feet on this thing since day one with the VF-19 Advance, just to get them to look decent in fighter mode, but the legs are your typical Bandai special glue and screw sandwich, with no way to get access to what looks like it should be a very simple ball joint to extract and just swap the entire foot. So I'm left with spring pins. Is there a specific tool I could use to potentially press these things out, or am I stuck finding a nail of the right diameter to hammer into the pin and hope it eventually comes out? --- Edit: So I actually had a nail set that was the right diameter to tap out the heel pins, so I managed to get a pair off of both one of my YF-19 and VF-19 Advance. Looking at these though, I think I might try and make a hybrid heel. I don't like the thickness at all, but short of taking a hacksaw to the the high tabs on the YF-19 heel plate, they aren't going to work with a shorter heel paddle cover. As for the spring pins.. yeah, I hate these with a passion. For the moment, I managed to force one pair back in with a vicegrip I could crank to the proper size. The heels aren't as tight as they were before, but they're staying put, and I managed not to lose any paint on anything but the interior metal parts, which are covered by the plastic caps. So, for the moment, I've got the YF-19 to display I wanted all along. We'll see what solution I come up with for the VF-19 Advance I stole the heels from. If I had a resin printer, I might try and design a replacement heel cap that would extend the heel to the same length as the Advanced version, but I don't think my spool printer will be able to pull it off. Now to tackle the fugly wing tampo...
