  1. Past hour
  2. Little update on that old 1/100 ARII kit. I think I will finish it up tonight. It’s getting close and not looking too crappy.
  3. Looks great! I bet you are stoked to get back at it.
  4. Cautiously intrigued and assiduously withholding any opinion or judgement until it either impresses or disappoints...
  5. Today
  6. Is that for the web exclusives or include the general retail stuff?
  7. yes, that was implemented the 2nd half last year.
  8. Its been a bit of a mixed bag - first one was pretty but felt like a lot of ideas not really gelling into an episode, second was good fun but maybe a bit rushed and third was all round pretty great (and for a show often mocked for its "bubble wrap" monsters, its amazing how much value the rebooted series have got out of I do really like Gatwas Doctor. When they allow him to, he can be downright scary and I really hope he gets the chance to meet his most famous old foes...
  9. Y'know, I'd always assumed that Millard Johnson's prosthetic leg in Macross Plus was a conventional prosthesis... but it appears you are correct. His Macross Chronicle Character Sheet explicitly refers to his artificial leg as a "robotic prosthetic".
  10. Today's other pick-up, a very nice G1 Thrust, complete except without the box. I always liked his Lancaster style twin tail design over the other Seekers (and, yes, I know the Lancaster has a different rudder shape but it's the most famous twin tailed aircraft from where I'm from).
  11. Does Amazon Japan always charge up front now?
  12. Probably just purely licensing costs. I'd imagine original characters are a lot cheaper to make and get approval for. Though I'd prefer an armored Ozma, I don't know if they could pull that off convincingly.
  13. That's a great tip for old decals @pengbuzz and a nice job on that Bird of Prey. @derex3592 that new space is looking better and better, but I suspect it will feel best when it's all cluttered with parts trees and pieces from your first build! Anyway, updates on the mods to the Hase SDF-1. Just about done the build phase for the mods. Had to make some compromises with the details, but overall I'm happy with the progress. Pics.
  14. Got to work with what time I had. After corrections, Mr. Surfacer 1500 was reapplied as a black base. I then zig-zag'd my airbrush over the surface with some AK Colors white. At this point I remembered this build is a 'clean' build and wanted to switch to a more purple/blue undertone. I remembered I still had paint left over from my VF-19 Ravens build last year(s) and began stippling and using templates to create variations in undertone. From here some Gaia Color EX-White was used (1:1) for do some very loose pre-shading and highlights. This stage is always challenging because the old-gunpla builder in me wants to keep preshading until full color smoothness is achieved. For aircraft, I find sloppier, the better. Lastly, I grabbed some Mr. Color 316 FS White and went to a 1:1:1 mix (color, leveling thinner, regular lacquer thinner.) This is the color I believe all VF-1's are called out for in Hase's instructions. I actually really like this white and keep it on hand. The 316 white was then airbrushed over a few key panels and then the pressure was turned up and light quick passes were applied over the entire surface to achieve a (hopefully) subtle look! I will let this dry and then re assemble the kit to make sure things look uniform and adjust as needed. Forgive the sloppiness. As most know, my hobby room died when the wife took over the space as a work-from-home office. I was a little reluctant to setup the spray-booth for a 'quick' paint job. So... just sat in the back porch rocker and let the fresh air deal with the fumes between rain showers with the dogs. Next up, hopefully were masking up for some color!
  15. Why the blonde and not one of the gals from MacrossF? I mean Kathy was good enough for the deculture decal set Bandai did for Ozma's 1/72
  16. *drool mode activated*
  17. I uncovered and uncluttered the paint bench this morning! Cleaned up and 99% ready to paint with my new NO NAME compressor! Just need an adapter for the hose I just don't happen to have 🤨 The kit stash under the bench is only temporary, until wife and I get the back room closets emptied out of boxes from the renovations. Stay tuned! ACTUAL modeling shall resume......... soooon..... ish... 🙄 😂
  18. One example I can think of is Col. Johnson's artificial leg, which he was reconnecting while lecturing Lt. Dyson about "stupidity" in Macross Plus: (Timestamp: 18:02) It looked like the leg was built to look like a boot, but I cannot quite tell.
  19. Found out yesterday that the latest season started 3 weeks ago so I binged the first 3 episodes. First one was the intro of the new Companion. Doctors back to being big and loud and lots of explosions. Second one was fun. Retro styling it. Third one brought back one of monsters we never saw when it was introduced. Todays should be the return of Ruby Sunday. So I've grown accustomed to Ncuti Gatwa as the Doctor so yeah I'm happy he's got the role. Varada Sethu as the new companion. She is having a blast in these three episodes. I like her.
  20. It's more or less the same as your hypothesis... just slightly narrower in scope since the New UN Gov't initially apparently didn't consider more civil war a possibility.
  21. Sure these are months, and years old respectively, and out of stock. But you can see for yourself how their pricing is automated to behave. This is not regular retailer behavior. https://www.nin-nin-game.com/en/metal-build/139288-metal-build-mobile-suit-gundam-00v-gnt-0000fs-00-qan-t-full-saber-tamashii-nation-24-limited-bandai-spirits-.html https://www.nin-nin-game.com/en/gundam/21906-mobile-suit-gundam-seed-astray-powered-red-150-gerber-straight-power-option-set-limited-edition-metal-build-.html
  22. Not exactly sure what this comparison is alluding to. Mandarake is 2nd hand store, TNE is not retail. This only speaks well of Mandarake, so I'm not making the connection of how this is contrary to my view of Nin-Nin being shadier than 2nd hand stores, exactly such as Mandarake. TBF, I have never had any personal issues in dealing with them. They do as expected and you get what you pay for. I just have been looking at their prices of things outside of freshly opened POs, and how their prices change on slightly older low stock items, until its priced out of being desirable at all, and then the single unit's price drags on into museum worthy price tags months or years later. If you order from them right when PO opens, and never browse for things you missed, you will never notice the pattern of their pricing. They do also have clearance sales on random items that they somehow deem less scalpable. But once you look at the more collectible items, or some very drawn out preorders, they stop looking like a retailer and more like an artificially self fulfilling antique store. Any other japanese toy retailer I've seen tends to stick to their lane as a retailer, and don't meddle with artificial scarcity and pricing. Their warehouse policy is just one of the more rigidly inflexible and short term ones. Nothing particularly foul, but is another factor to consider.
  23. Heck yeah! No rendered pixels at all, just AI estimates everywhere!
  24. That's a more boring explanation.
