  2. 100% ahahaha, that drawing... This site is the best
  3. I missed a line in the quote I was responding to, but half of what I said was responding to "Minor alterations to the 19 to make a fire valk." Fundamentally in lore, they are the same, but in terms of toy production, other than following most of the same contortions to transform, they are almost unrelated. The 19s really don't even share the same battroid proportions either. Wasn't it you, or maybe it was someone else, that told me on the other thread that the 19kai has that nasty gap in the leg because it has to retract for battroid and extend for fighter, where the YF doesn't have such proportion issues? Their legs are of completely different design, so bandai couldn't even recycle those parts even if they wanted to. Meanwhile it's in lore that 171 stuffs a larger engine in the same old 17 leg. So like I said, Bandai has their lore excuse to prove that it's a matter of artistic depiction. But I've alreardy said they shouldn't have done that and should have followed the original fat proportions as depicted. I don't disagree that it looks wrong from every depiction ever, so I'm not sure what part of the topic I'm missing. To put it differently, if 171 was drawn in M7 style, it would be just as chonky as 17. But if YF-19 was drawn in M7 style, it would still have different legs, shoulders, nose cone, canopy, lower chest turrets, shield, head, etc from the VF-19kai. One gives them justification to cheat the toy design while the other doesn't. Not that they should have cheated at all
  4. They better don't go out of bussines before they reissue a VT-1. I can bet it is a big hole in many collections now days.
  5. But is it fine enough to take the entire family to the theater pay full price for tickets and popcorn on the opening weekend when you can just wait for it on Disney Plus?
  6. I’d list things as Andor being young adult, the cartoons and Skeleton Crew as for younger kids and the rest is basic kids stuff. But adults can enjoy kids stuff as well, no need to feel shamed. Although the main audience is the aged fandom for the most part
  7. Today
  8. I’m pretty sure he meant for the og trilogy and maybe the prequels at the time of his statement
  9. Eh, whether Star Wars as a whole is "for kids" is kind of an academic question at this point... since even if it WAS for kids when it was new those kids are in their fifties and sixties now and still haven't let it go. 🙃 This new movie is pretty undeniably aiming for the young kids, though. Which is fine.

  11. There was no nudity or cussing, so it was more tame than Clash of the Titans by far, even though there wasn’t any cussing in that from what I remember. The politics were extremely simple and honestly overall it was far more child friendly than most nursery rhythms. America just got overly sensitive around things and think kids are stupider than they actually are
  12. Just received the Genesis Breaker book from CD Japan. 😊
  13. Well said. And so very true. I think I found the original sketch used to develop this new DX. Not much really changed. Thanks for nothing Bandai.
  14. The Water Magician's season finale was as uninspired as the rest of the series. It doesn't do anything wrong, per se... but it doesn't really do anything particularly right either. It's watchable, but it's so bland and insipid that it doesn't make a lasting impression. It's the plain quaker rice cake of isekai anime. It can be consumed, but literally anything else is a superior option if you want flavor with your viewing experience. It's clear the studio wants the series to get a second season as they end on an obvious sequel hook, but I have a feeling this one won't get renewed. I've finished Apocalypse Bringer Mynoghra as well. My first impression was pretty much dead-on. It's not so much Diet Overlord as Great Value brand Overlord and it's clearly taking a lot of "inspiration" from Maruyama's series to such a degree that most prominent characters are obviously minimally-altered Overlord characters. Takuto is just Momonga without the loneliness motive and undead complications. Atou is Albedo in everything but name and Miss Fanservice proportions. There are even a pair of dark elf twins clearly based on Aura and Mare, but without the crossdressing. Its one and only innovation on the genre is that each of the multiple "players" who have ended up reincarnating in this fantasy world after death is working with god mode hax from a different genre of game. Takuto's powerset comes from the 4X game he was the #1 ranked player of. The unnamed "Demon Lord" draws his forces and powers from what looks to be a Famicom-era JRPG, while another villain appears to be a mercilessly min/maxed NPC villain from a TTRPG. Quite a bit of the drama in the second half seems to stem from how those different styles of game logic interact and impose on each other. It could be an interesting premise in the hands of another, better author with a less derivative story and cast.
  15. If the rumors i've heard about what happens with Sam Flynn are true i'll likely skip seeing this in theatres.

    HMR VF-19P

Boy I hope I can twist those fins off without destroying the shoulders, since at least one of mine is getting the Skull-1 treatment. Can always cut them, of course, but would be nice if they just detach.
  17. I think the topic here is much more about the proportions of the jet itself than the individual parts. For all of the changes between them, the YF-19 and VF-19 are still fundamentally the same aircraft design, with the same layout and overall proportions of components relative to each other. That really can't be said about the 17 and 171, because their proportions are really nothing alike in battroid mode. Obviously moving to CG animation changed the magical proportion shifts present in Macross 7, but that didn't stop Yamato from making a massively chonky brute of a VF-17, and getting it to transform into a solid fighter mode. Bandai made an accurate VF-171, sure. But it looks nothing like what the VF-17 ever has, in any medium. They may as well be trying to upsell an F-18C as a Super Hornet. The designs are at least that different.
  18. I just don't think my brain has the capacity to comprehend what I'm looking at.
  19. See, the parts I'm thinking of are the irritating little aesthetic choices that actually have absolutely no impact on the transformation whatsoever. They're just shapes and details that Bandai looked at and decided, "No, we're doing something different." So.. as a fair warning, I'll spoiler it for folks who don't care to hear my rantings about little details. Just the TLDR though.. Bandai changed little aesthetic details that don't impact the transformation. Are these nit-picks? Absolutely. But there is no valid reason for why those details were changed in the first place. It's just Bandai deciding they know better, and I'm so tired of that attitude. As for the tampo, while I think it's obnoxious, for what it's worth, I can appreciate these markings more than the slop they threw on the YF-19 (at least these are symmetrical), but I still think they went overboard. What's sad? The worst part isn't even the added markings. The dingbats went and printed the UN emblem on the left wing cock-eyed. It is absolutely misaligned on every single picture I've seen of the YF-21, and that is just a bizarre level of incompetence on a product at this price point. I'm VERY tempted to just strip those off and put fresh decals on to fix it, since I think they're about the same size as the Yamato 1/60 VF-1 fast pack markings.
  20. I think it's the other way around. Only the thruster spines are actually common between the two 19s. Maybe the forearms, canards, roll pins, and some die cast bits that aren't too visible, but I can't even be sure. Everything else most definitely looks different and needs to be a new mold. The 171 is technically mostly just the 17, but in CG style... In lore, aside from the appendages bandai already did change, they put the gunpod outside the 171 and used the space to fit larger engines in the old legs. So bandai has lore justification for recycling 171 leg proportions on this. Of course, that doesn't mean they shouldn't have just gone with old animation proportionis over the 171 CG, and skimped out on the gunpod storage gimmick. Now it's a partsformer where the gun gets tossed out.
  21. 🤔 Yeah, it would work better as a farce or a parody wouldn't it? Literally all that's missing is the self-awareness that comes with a farce or parody and some canned laughter. Maybe the Xenomorph can end season two by whipping out a straw boater hat and cane and belting out a cover of "Hello, Ma Baby" like in Spaceballs...

I ran across so much hyperbolic non-sense looking around it was hard to discern who actually knew what. I figured after HLJ shipped my Andrew Garfield Spider-Man I'd get a clear picture. I straight asked them about the different charges. Brought up that AG Spider-Man was being charged 15% but the new Scarlet Spider was 30% and was told AG was made in Japan but SS wasn't... okay. So then I asked even if that were true why is it that the baseline charging for DHL more than doubled along with whatever that service charge was. I received a curt reply, they don't make those numbers... and that was it, no more responses. What Derex and vladykins quoted is precisely what I paid for AG. Now it would be nearly $100. So I have no clear picture. I know Big In Japan has offered to put down COO for the 19P as Japan, don't know what the baseline price is going to be anymore though, they haven't responded to me. In terms of shipping quality, for where I live in Albuquerque my preference in order is FedEx, DHL, UPS and USPS. FedEx and DHL are nearly identical, UPS has two stations with their own little fifedoms and it always takes 24-48 hours to ship between the two before they will deliver to my area of town. I've had multiple packages from USPS reach the substations five minutes from my house completely disappear. I was already primed to pay a lot more in shipping to avoid that constant headache.
  23. That’s great! Oh and post a photo of the Q-Rau once you finish it up.
  24. It is my opinion that Lucas and others are wrong about Star Wars being for kids. You can categorize movies for 3 audiences: kid friendly, family friendly and grownup friendly. Of the 3 only family friendly has something that will appeal to all audiences. With the other two categorizes only the named audience will enjoy their experience. Traditionally Star Wars has been family friendly. Later sequels and prequels introduced extended sequences that were specifically kid friendly. I guess you could call this Fan Service for Children. We usually see it in the form of cute and funny creatures and droids getting into cartoonish situations. This trailer is showing a lot of that.
  25. Thanks! The old 1:100 Imai Armored Valk is the first vintage kit I augmented with ball joints. I've learned how to do this through Japanese modeling magazines as well as Japanese YouTube modelers. My legacy Q-Rau kit is almost done... I just need to paint the pilot's eyes and I'll be done. That has ball joints for the hips, reinforced with brass tube for durability.
