I can't justify that for a 5.5-6 inch articulated figure. It's ridiculous.

The computer and electronics super geek thread

Got my Pixel 10 to upgrade from my three year old Pixel 7. Set-up was a breeze and the display in daylight outdoors is probably my favorite new feature so far. That being said, if it wasn't for my Pixel 7's dying battery I'd probably would have kept it one more year regardless of the free trade-in with Verizon. Yeah, I could have replaced my Pixel 7's battery with a new one but its too important for me to accidentally make it unusable. -
Looks absolutely gorgeous. Now where's the 25s? It does.

IMO, Kirsh's "agenda" seems pretty obvious. He's pretty consistently depicted as the person most invested in the actual wellbeing and care of the Hybrids, whom he seems to regard as fellow Synths. He encourages them to be more Synth-like, but he's also shown encouraging them to take advantage of the freedoms they have that aren't afforded to normal Synths. He exhorts them to disregard fear as an animal weakness, but also encourages Wendy to make her own choices and provides her with ethical guidance and quietly encourages Tootles's desire to become a scientist and to choose a new name for himself to reflect his new direction in life. He is clearly aware that his employer is a reckless idiot, and does what he can to minimize the risks involved with Boy Cavalier's actions. He knows something is wrong with Slightly, and it seems likely that his goal is to resolve the matter quietly and without bringing it to the attention of his superiors who might punish or even destroy Slightly for having been manipulated into betraying Prodigy. There's no presumption of infallibility when it comes to Boy Cavalier. He's written as a fairly typical techbro douchebag. He believes he's a genius, but it's pretty clear in-series that he's just another rich idiot who failed upwards and likes to LARP as the next Nikola Tesla or Thomas Edison by claiming credit for the innovations of the companies he's bought his way into. (He's modeled on a real person, and it is NOT subtle at all.) Well, that's a fairly standard sci-fi trope... give a computer with greater-than-human intelligence the ability to think like a human and you've got at least a 50-50 on it going crazy rampage nuts sooner or later. 😆 After all, we're told directly in-series that the reason Prodigy is using kids for these experiments is because their minds are better able to adapt to their new state as Synths. That implies both that they've tried this unsuccessfully with adults and that the success rate with kids is not 100% either. Yeah, it's got a good critical reception... which means very little considering how many critics are bought-and-paid-for. Audience scores are lower, but still generally favorable. It's a mindless sort of nostalgia-driven series so we'll see if those numbers trend up or down.

Yeah. While it has not always been consistently presented - e.g. TNG "Unnatural Selection", VOY "Lineage" - the United Federation of Planets does have a ban on genetic modification of sentient beings. Dr. M'Benga's violation of that ban in this episode is kind of the least of this episode's writing problems, though. Consider, if you will... The fact that M'Benga almost certainly broke the law for this weirdly trivial away mission is a tiny, tiny problem next to the vast number of other writing problems in this episode.

Yeah, I bought it. I had the original Zephyrus G14 and I loved it, but it was getting a bit dated (only 1080p, only 60hz, only 16GB of RAM, and an RTX 2060 Max-Q). I'd been eyeing the new model since they announced it, and between the $400 discount and a $500 gift card I got for cashing in credit card rewards I couldn't resist. Haven't had a chance to install any games yet, but the 2880x1800 120hz OLED display with HDR is a huge upgrade by itself. It's a small thing, but I had the original in white, and the light bleed through the keys made using the backlighting on the keyboard really undesirable. This time around it's much better, and I can customize the color to boot. Slightly lighter, slightly thinner, double the RAM, newer Ryzen AI 9 CPU, and an RTX 5070ti mobile and I'm pretty content so far. We'll see how it handles gaming later. -

Here's something a little easier on the eyes with cleaned up stripes. Going for a WW2 pacific Corsair feel (kinda).

Interesting point. We talked about the "always black" engine/legs before, but I hadn't really thought about the stripes always highlighting the leading edges. I guess that's kind of normal for every plane, but with the 31 and how broad the wing/top area is, it ends up leaving a lot of empty space. As a very quick experiment, I tried throwing some front-to-back stripes on one of the planes and changing the engines to a color match shade. It's not pretty, but it does give a different feel. I may play with some cooler color schemes and see what I can come up with.

I wonder if it is going to be true 1/60 scale or what size reference they uses to determine the dimensions. That pilot looks very nice for figure that size considerin it should be a bit smaller that Sentinel pilot figure

You and me both!!! Seeing it in person at WF23 Winter really had me ready to drop down money for a couple (maybe a few) of them at day 1 preorder. I wonder if the release of the original VF-4G under Yamato has them worried.

I think better is a tough way to label a type of music most of the time, but I definitely like Bauhaus a lot more. Less pop more dark. I personally really love the first album by Christian Death, but if I were to call it better than most goth or death rock, there would be plenty that think that Only Theatre of Pain is horribly annoying. Or Personally think that Type O Negative is way more entertaining than Marylin Manson or that Minisistry is my pick above Rob Zombie, but I don’t really like to throw the term better as much anymore and really try my best not to use it as much these days. But there are definitely things I personally prefer over a lot of other things. Although I’m sure I sometimes still use the term better by accident here and there.

I’m with you there. He is willing to give warnings about the dangers of the alien species, but doesn’t seem to care much beyond that and also seems in on the transmissions, but doesn’t want to do anything about it. Almost as if he’s either doing his own experiments or just doesn’t think these new bots are worthy of being held up as more advanced than himself. I kinda get the feeling that things have to be standardized at least as far as connections. They’ve gotten to the point where people have to be put in hibernation and have to have their tech up and running when they reach a settlement that might still rely on tech from many years before. Not saying there aren’t technical leaps, but just that they probably have to be done in a way to keep people connected over large distances that take some long travel times. Things are probably just designed for basic compatibility
