  1. Past hour
  2. I don't properly remember how diver mode generally works, but I did take a good spread of fighter and bot mode pics. Honestly, these are so close in fighter that's hilarious. Sentinel is 8.5 inches long with a 6.4 inch wingspan. The Tomy is 8.4 inches long, with a 6.1 inch wingspan, though you could say the Tomy cheats on the length a little by not collapsing the feet quite as far. Either way, they're just really close. Height-wise, the Sentinel grows more, so it comes out about an inch taller overall, closer to 7 inches than the Tomy's roughly 6 inch height. Overall? The comparison I was expecting was something like a DX to an HMR.. but I think that's actually underselling both of them in a couple of ways. The Sentinel feels incredibly over-engineered, but it pulls off the design amazingly, in ways no one had tried before. The Tomy version just feels like someone decided to take more creative liscence with the transformation, and then asked "How can we do this for half the price?" And I do not mean the Tomy feels cheap by that. It's obviously simpler, but compared with the complexity of the Sentinel, it's also a lot more fun to mess with. The Sentinel feels like a (very small) high-end collectible. The Tomy just feels like someone wanted something fun to mess with in the same scale, and at a much more reasonable price. I'd say they succeeded in that. It's really enjoyable to transform, I just yanked it out of the package without even looking at the instructions, and was posing it in a couple of minutes. It just feels like it could use a little paint on things like the landing gear (which do give the chest ground clearance, by the way). Sadly one of my copies also came missing the yellow end-cap on the right arm, so I'm going to have to try and navigate HLJ's customer service about that one. It's not a complex part, so maybe something I could also scratch up a copy of, but if these get released stateside, I might try service on that end. Honestly, I'm kind of tempted to pick up more of these guys, they're just very fun. I went and ordered a second copy of the back one when the reviews started hitting, but the green was sold out.
  3. @derex3592Congrats. Now just make the $255 look like a $ million.
  4. I so wish I was able to find the vinyl or plastic versions of anything BGC. Your build is inspiring me. Hanami time. My wife and I were in Japan for Hanami 8 years ago. Such a beautiful time. 🌸
  5. Batman Beyond.

  7. Mine arrived today from HLJ. First reaction.....it's fun.
  8. Sometimes you just gotta have a lil laugh I hear they’re working on more animated silliness and I can’t wait.
  9. Today
  10. Yeah, it’s definitely some madness going on. Wish these were available stateside.
  11. So not to over-exaggerate or anything, but it's only chapter 1 and it might be one of the best stories I've ever read from the franchise. It's kind of embarrassing to admit that I actually got emotional reading through it all lol. I've always been an advocate on playing around the themes and positions Zentradi has in the bigger world since SDF, and Chelsea as the main protagonist a wonderful character to show those through her lens. I'm already privy of her backstory details, but even without that you get a real good idea of her character, struggling to fit into the larger culture as a Earthling (a failed idol career from being racially tokened, and her parents all but disowning her for not "understanding culture,") or fitting as a soldier as a Zentradi (being scouted for Klan's Pixy Team as a Queadluun-Rhea pilot mostly because she's a Meltran, and her hesitating to shoot down a Nousjadeul-Ger pilot after seeing his face.) Coupled with her interactions with SMS characters, old and new, you really get a real good sense of her, as if we knew her for years. On that note, it brings up very interesting implications for the bigger world of Macross. Chelsea's parents unfairly ridicule her for being the person who is the reason why Zentradi aren't accepted by Earthlings, and pretty much everything surrounding the Koperl's recon squad. The disconnect between "culturized" Zentradi and "rogue" Zentradi is uncomfortably disassociating, with the implications that some, including the NUNS high command, don't even see the latter as people, even though all first generation Zentradi like Vhirler were more or less in that same position. Although the conversation between him and Wilder seem to suggest a common practice where a Zentran scout is sent to a rogue fleet and see if they'd surrender, at least a possibility to prevent any casualties or in the best case scenario, them being adopted into NUN control. And when things inevitably went south, I was surprised to see a Minmay Attack being utilized, I even got Macross II flashbacks when the Ghosts projected holograms of Sheryl. Interestingly enough it argues the actual effectiveness of it, both in its actual story and in-universe, where it makes a jab at how movies and tv shows have Zentradi lose all of their will to fight the moment they hear music and how "that isn't how it really was." I do love the self awareness Kodachi seemed to have with that, because it very much is in cases like Macross 7's Chlore Fleet, ironically years later with Macross the Musicalture's Neo Zentran movement, and even Frontier itself with Temjin's rebellion! If anything you can argue the sense that not only it is pretty haphazard in its actual practical use and plays further with how non-cultured Zentradi are perceived by others. All in all, wonderful first impression, and I am figuratively and literally jumping in my seat for what the next chapter has to offer. Thank you so much for sharing this with us!
  12. Well, the first two episodes of Maul: Edgelord Shadow Lord are out on Disney+ as of today. It really is proof - as if more were necessary - that Dave Filoni still has not mentally or artistically moved on from The Clone Wars even as that series approaches its 20th anniversary. There is just nothing here. The first two episodes of Maul: Shadow Lord are an empty, meaningless exercise in nostalgia for nostalgia's sake. One person in my watch group called it a "member berry smoothie", whatever that means. Stabba Badguyman one-dimensionally revenge-murders his way through a parade of nameless mooks in pursuit of his non-specific revenge against a largely ill-defined group of people. Maul is basically the Star Wars equivalent of a chuunibyou character. 😅 The one upside is that, with his constant nattering on about revenge, Sam Witwer's Maul sounds uncannily like James Urbaniak's Phantom Limb from The Venture Bros.
  13. Well, here they are....the two MOST expensive model kits I have ever or WILL ever buy.....$255 give or take a few cents to get them to my doorstep from HLJ....and that was the CHEAPER of the two ASS RAPE shipping options from them. I'm out. Done. Over it. Never again buying anything overseas until this tarriff madness stops, and the jacked up shipping rates subside, if they ever do.
  14. Gorgeous @Lolicon! I'm still waiting for my shipping notice - us Canadians usually gets the shaft. I was wondering if anyone on here would be getting it. Are you on the Facebook Tomy sites? The official Tomy site has been censored to be mostly positive, but this site has a lot more complaining, but also more information on fixes; https://www.facebook.com/groups/873995894505608 It seems like Tomy repairs light leaks nowadays with grey putty. There's so much talk on them. Did you see the threads with the water-based white Vallejo putty that people are doing themselves which seem to look better IMO.
  15. I’m hoping for a newer kit , maybe a Moderoid series or something. Retro stuff seems kinda popular these days
  16. Yeah, no 9mils. Start 'em with an AMERICAN caliber, specified in inches like God and Browning intended! ... I got a Red Ryder BB gun for my fifth birthday.
  17. It's all mixed together. I followed the instructions from Aoshima's Priss + Motoslave plamo kit that I have. It's not a very good kit, but it's OOP and expensive these days. The R&D project manager responsible for that kit told me that he wasn't satisfied with how it ended up. It is what it is. I'll build it someday. The instructions for painting Priss's figure calls for a mixture of something like 50% silver, 30% clear blue and 20% indigo blue with Mr. Color paints. What you see is roughly the same, but with V-Color vinyl paints. I picked up a package of pearlescent blue powder at the Winter Wonder Festival with the intention of mixing it with gloss clear V-Color paint, but actually I think it looks fine the way it is. I took a half day off yesterday to enjoy the cherry blossoms with my daughter and have a picnic with her. At night I was planning to do the touch-up brushwork for Priss, but I ended up connecting my Tenacontrols lighting kit for my AMT Enterprise E model kit to a breadboard and figuring out how it works. I'll see if I can get back to Priss tonight instead.
  18. nothing says celebrate your birthday like having your first pew pew. I remember when my grand daddy plopped me on his knee and he said, "My grandson, my least favorite. That you may be, but on this auspicious day of your continued existence I felt there was nothing better than for you to have your first 9 mil. Wait how old are you?" "5 Grandpa" "yeah close enough." no that didn't happen, but still. .......Like this is not a good idea lol It wasn't a good idea 40 years ago, this isn't a good idea now.
  19. Yesterday
  20. That is so insanely nice, I really wish I could have justified getting one, but absolutely do not have the space.
  21. After his latest work I have no problem waiting.
  22. This Album, especially this song is quite fitting for today's Artemis mission.
  23. I recently received my Tomy TMP Enterprise and opened her up. She's absolutely beautiful. She's not perfect but for less than 1/20 the price of the FE version, she's quite lovely. The phaser banks and torpedo launchers light up to simulate firing, though I didn't get any pics of that. I'll admit I had TWOK theme playing in my head the entire time I was unboxing her. (Sorry, but TMP is unwatchably boring and just not a very good movie overall.) Here she is out of the box. She's about 3 feet long. The aztec paneling is well done and better than the far more expensive FE Enterprise, if their website pics are accurate. Out of the box unpowered. In spacedock Warp speed My copy has some light leaks around the saucer. I emailed Tomy and they said I could ship it back for repair, free of charge. (Even the FE sample pics on their site has light leaks.) Main deflector Registry The nacelles can be changed to purple for those who want to replicate the look of the real life filming model (I kept mine blue). Impulse dome Bridge Lounge Arboretum (hard to capture on camera) Shuttle bay I'm quite happy with this purchase. She's been put back in her box until I get some new display cases to display her alongside the TOS Enterprise. Don't want my bastard cats messing with them.
  24. It could definitely use a few more standard markings, but they did add the star under the LEX, it's just a little hard to see from above. It is pretty close to where the Hornet has it, but further back due to the LEX actually being a solid part, and it's better to have it there anyhow so it doesn't get scratched off during transformation.
