  2. I guess there’s not much hope for the live action Transformers movies anymore
  3. That sucks, I was very curious about that
  4. Lots of YF-19 love going in lately
  5. Today
  6. Hobby JAPAN has released more detailed images of Bandai's Hi-Metal R FATTY showing of what parts are metal and some of the opening as well as joints! I must admit that it's somewhat amazing what Bandai has done with this mech! Shows that they are taking their time to give us the best available... Also Hi-Metal really means Metal in this series 🤗 I will work on adding and cleaning up the translation soon!
  7. The anime series that follows the manga closely would be more ideal. I think that got cancelled too, ugh.
  8. Maybe? I think that may be more of a happy accident. None of the sources I've translated thus far have shed any light on the origin/meaning of the Nome family name. It's spelled ノーム, which is used for several different loanwords like Gnome, Noam, and Nome. The most likely explanation I can come up with for their family name is that it is meant to be the same as "gnome", a reference to the earth spirit//fairy of Renaissance folklore that the Nomes of The Wonderful World of Oz are named for. Not that the Nome family of Macross have any real resonance with the folkloric creatures the way Baum's Nomes do.
  9. If your hands are clean, you're not doing the work. 😉 I love those welding seams, Cap'. 😍
  10. nice collection
  11. OK, these are super cool. I appreciate you making me aware of them.
  12. May it stay that way. Hollywood's track record with anime is so bad that all I can do is celebrate the demise of a project like this. The odds of it being another dumpster fire like Cowboy Bebop, Dragonball Evolution, or Speed Racer are far higher than the odds of them producing anything watchable.

  14. Here's where it ended up going and some other retro eye candy.
  15. Added MUSHA with the display collection up top with some of my other favorites.

  17. I think you nailed it there. The modern look just doesn't work with this particular story.
  18. This may create a fever dream of possibilities in Hollywood. Someone might be thinking, "now's our chance.." I was never too excited over the live action idea. Between the manga and the anime. It's as good as it could ever be. IMO. But the wasteland of creativity in the film industry surely has some execs pondering the renewed potential. Whether we like it or not.
  19. Never interested in the anime, but having it go back to the original publisher could be the best thing. I think it would do better in the smaller Japanese market where there would be far more of a fan-base. Bringing it over here just got it lost amid the Hollywood Shuffle. Plus, if it was made here, you'd probably have another Ghost in the Shell, with its divisive reception.
  20. Great Simon Furman's Ghost Akira is dead! https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/movies/movie-news/akira-rights-up-for-grabs-warner-bros-1236299695/?fbclid=IwY2xjawLMwmRleHRuA2FlbQIxMABicmlkETFZb1ZiS2t4c1VyZUNxQWRTAR7d7iQowLz4NPWx2CS6KSNHJC5AzEK-aUsRCJCetxp4W_VD6GbnA8ICeCXukQ_aem_xyAcdIkEBFMMSv73skIe6w
  21. I wonder if BBTS is taking any hit from this shipment in terms of an import tax?
  22. It’s gonna be tough to get the look since most anime these days looks too clean. The old one had a gritty look that helped sell the apocalyptic feel. As far as story, I think that’s really gonna be up to the writers. One thing I’ve noticed with a lot of these retro shows making comebacks or reboots is that the majority don’t feel like they were worth the trouble and that the original often is still the better choice. But sometimes it’s still fun to see them try.
