I still don't the fascination of these acrylic displays... They're like the cardboard cut out of 80s cereal boxes...

Considering how their Eva line sold like hot pancakes, yet never released so many shown prototypes including of the angels, (and the popularity of Evangelion vs Macross) it's unlikely the Toma and etc will not retailers storerooms. Unless the original series gets a reboot, those prototypes will remain flaking their paint on some dusty Bandai shelf...

I don't know if I could justify something that expensive, and I'm just about the biggest Mospeada fan you'll ever meet. It would be an easier decision if I didn't have to repaint it... 😒

I'm only in if it's not that pure bright white plastic of the first release.

Super Macross Mecha Fun Time Discussion Thread!
Seto Kaiba replied to Valkyrie Driver's topic in Movies and TV Series
We need to see if someone can stealthily drop this on Bandai's desk... because I doubt we're the only ones who'd look at this and say "Take my money, Bandai!" In practice, you could say it's a typically polite Japanese way of saying "It's my story and I'll do what I want." 😆 Kawamori's not going to let himself be locked into a single version of the narrative, even if official publications do generally preference the TV series version over movie versions for timelines and such. He'll pick whatever he thinks best fits the new story he's trying to tell and run with that. -
Yeesh, that's huge. Like, I can't say it's not tempting, even at that price, but I still think it feels too busy overall, both in all the extra markings and little details that look like they would just add excessive complexity and break easily. It's still really impressive though. I think the overall look is better on the robot, since it seems like they managed to make the tails even smaller than the Riobot version. I don't know if I could justify something that big for a series I really never cared about though. It's definitely a collection centerpiece, but we'll see who sells it, and whether the exchange rate helps any.

Looks like Mafex are hiking prices...

Octos and Cheyenne would be very nice too... Major pipedream; we all know those will NEVER happen; heck, we're still waiting for the Tomahawk and Phalanx from OG Macross to see the light of day.

1/28 scale... 330mm tall. Just saw a local preorder open up for this... a little over $525. proly the sheer size and heft plus all the gimmicks and light up stuff.

Ok I might have to pick this up. It looks to be around 1/24 scale with an articulated pilot. Although the internal avionic layout looks like a circuit board the scale is really selling point.

That vomit scene in Zapped, lol. I miss the teen sci-fi comedies of the 1980s.

Is the Stig figure included with this thing or do we have to go back and buy the one from a few years ago? I know nobody really knows, but what do we reckon?

Unfortunately HLJ has them for $103. Which probably would be much more from an American place like BBTS, wouldn’t be surprised to see $130

Sounds more complicated than the VF -1. Can’t wait to see it finished

That looks great, thanks for posting

well ... for the VF-19, they probably attempted the same, but there are like leg parts on the same runners that have head and body parts. The layout kinda looks like: "let's split it up for easier building" and then somewhen in between someone said "we have 125 runners now" - and then they had to organize more and stuff things here and there. I'll check for the runner letters and place them accordingly ... that uses up time as well. hahaha I'll take a picture later and show you how stuff is managed @Papa Rat Nice build man!
