    Of course, Superman doesn’t need one at this point....I was referring to characters like Mr. Terrific....in Creature Commandos they at least gave enough of a background for the characters to be able to just go with it...it also helped they had more time to do so since it was a series....in either case, it wasn't the biggest problem with this movie....the biggest problem was that it was just "ok" for being the more general audience reboot for the DCU...

    At this point anyone needing an origin movie for Superman - is not going to see a Superman movie anyway. Planning on seeing it next weekend, no other big releases coming up till the 25th so hopefully still in Imax, a regular theater if not.

    Just saw it. It's ok....not the kind of movie you'd be counting on to reboot a franchise. There really was just one major change to the Superman lore....it really did nothing to make me rethink the character. The only thing that I really think did and will make a difference in this "rebooted" DC universe is that apparently the need for "origin" movies are no longer needed? It certainly forces you to just go in with an open mind and just hope the characters can make things "work". For the most part, they did for me....however, I was left wondering the most about Mr. Terrific. To me he seemed the most interesting new character that I wish I knew a little more about. He apparently was sort of like an Iron Man, where his powers are all derived via tech. In short, an ok movie but it just seems like a very low key franchise reboot....only time will tell if it all works....tbh....I take that back....Creature Commandos was technically the first offering for the new DCU....and it was better overall IMO than Superman...that also had a bunch of characters I knew nothing about...but it all worked...at least for me...

    Be aware that the Yamato 1/60 VF-11 molds are prone to having lots of little cracks but they rarely lead to catastrophic failures.

    The one thing they didn't do, that I wish they had, is eliminate the hinge on the panel behind the cockpit. Instead of that panel flipping over the way Gakken did originally, it should recess into the cavity. The array that goes over the shoulder should swivel out on linkage that allows it to sit above the shoulder without that panel being used. The array would twist back toward the exhaust, then pivot on an arm at the back of the chest piece, and then hinge to flip up and over. At this scale, they could have been the first company to make that happen. If they ever did a Shadow/Dark variant (which they obviously wont) that also would eliminate one of the mold changes necessary.

    We've got no idea what's in store for the next Macross series... which is going to be a Bandai Namco project IIRC. The one thing I'd expect there is they'll want to have 50,000 variants and equipment options so that they can milk those plamodel molds. Of course, if there's ever any proper official media coverage of Macross Delta: Absolute Live!!!!!!'s mecha the backstory in Master File has a coin flip's chance of being replaced outright with something else entirely, so we probably shouldn't take it as read that the Sv-300, Sv-301, and Sv-302 exist in the official setting at all. Right now Master File is literally the one and only source that talks about both the VF-31AX and Sv-303 in any significant detail, so it's kind of the answer by default. Given what Macross Delta's extra features and Master File have said about the state of new VF development, I'm really wondering how far the envelope is going to be pushed in the next series. Macross Delta: Absolute Live!!!!!! is set nine years after the events of Macross Frontier and its movies. Back at the start of Macross Delta, Kawamori indicated the VF-31 is in the final stages of operational acceptance testing and is set to enter service as the Brisingr Alliance New UN Forces next main fighter c.2068-2069. They're a good seven to eight years behind the wealthier emigrant fleets and planets that started transitioning their forces to 5th Generation Valkyries as early as 2060, and it's likely that they'll remain their main variable fighters for at least 20 years. The concept for the 6th Generation Variable Fighter was teased by the extra features in Macross Delta's home video release and bluntly spelled out in Master File. If that's the real direction they're going, what we can expect to see from future hero Valkyries is: Manned-Unmanned Teaming (aka "Loyal Wingman" platforms) where a manned Valkyrie is supported by and controlling multiple drone fighters in the field, similar to what the VF-2SS does in Macross II or the Sv-262 and Sv-303 do in Macross Delta. Fold wave systems as a standard feature. It's implied that the presence of a fold wave system or derivative thereof is what makes the Siegfried and Draken III "Gen 5.5". Fold quartz-enhanced engines as a standard feature, like the /FC2 or /FC3 designs. Beam gunpods as standard The main roadblock to production and adoption of 6th Generation Variable Fighters has been established to be fold quartz. Humanity can't independently synthesize it. Supplies of the stuff are finite, it's a heavily restricted material due to the dangers involved in its procurement and its weapons potential, and fold quartz of sufficient size and purity to create a fold wave system is indicated to be vanishingly rare and nearly impossible to obtain even on planets with large deposits of fold quartz. One has to wonder if we'll see an extension of the idea Master File tabled where the New UN Forces are willing to accept a lower-quality fold wave system made using the best and highest-quality fold carbon Humanity can synthesize (which is said to be only 1% as effective) or if they decide to reinvent the 6th Generation and ditch the fold wave system as one of its key requirements. I'm kind of surprised that we haven't seen a DX Chogokin Sv-303 yet. It's a main mecha in the movie and it's been literal years now. They literally had Bandai's toy division help with the designs for the movie so that they could maximize the profits from merchandising, so it's weird that the only new DX's we got from it are the VF-31AX and Bogue's Sv-262 "Red Knight" version.

    I'm trying to get my Fugu Jetfire fitting together as well as possible, but I just can't figure out how to fix this gap at the intake----my original Roy fits nice and tight there, but there's no obvious lock or post---I can't figure out what holds the chest plate down on the original, and why Jetfire is so loose and just kind of "floats above the intake"

    waaaaaay too much on the plate this season. So I will stick with the Rascal does not dream series for this post. It appears as is this season is going to cover books 10-13, starting with Lost Idol, then Nightingale, Student, and Finally Santa Claus. TBH these are not the strongest arcs of the series by a long shot. In the first 2 episodes your introduced to all the main characters except for maybe 1 that will complete these books, some in passing and others directly. Its possible that this might actually be a better medium then the novels for telling the story.. which would be interesting.

    Yeah, those old VF-11s are hard to come by. I think I paid about 25% more than that when I got mine. If we ever get a DX Chogokin VF-11 that price might collapse a bit, but I've been holding out hope for that for ages... (partly because I want a Mina Forte VF-11C).

    A VF-11C is quite rare to come by on the open market. And when it does they usually fetch a hefty sum. The Thunderbolt design is quite a nice piece of engineering for a toy and the look is very clean. One of Yamato’s last true testaments to their engineering prowess. With the current yen to dollar exchange rate you get it at a fantastic price. Totally worth it.

    I’ve been on the lookout for years for a Yamato VF-11C, kinda like my white whale. One is actually up for sale from a Japan site but it’s 60,000 yen. Obviously that’s because of rarity but just wondering from the community of y’all think it’s worth me pulling the trigger on it.

    I think that's fair, but iirc Ignis' feet still have ankle pivots, and the chunky design is pretty accurate. Ignis definitely has his share of compromises due to the All Built-In gimmick, but I expected that after Onslaught. Ventus just feels unfinished, that's why I might give Ignis an edge. But there's definitely a gap between Ignis & Ventus vs the other three. I agree, but I'll go one further. If we're only comparing arms, I think Venus<Impetus (Vortex)<Volatus (Blast Off)<Medicus. Anything's possible, I guess (I just saw they're doing Godbomber armor for Optus Pexus), but since they're doing actual toy decos I wouldn't hold my breath. If you can make a combiner without any extra parts it's all-in-one. The shoes are optional for people who want toy/OX accuracy. I'll say this, though... I'm messing with Maximas Pro around the same time with Hasbro's Superion. And yeah, MMC's All Built-In engineering is super impressive, but I'm kinda loving the simple playability and all-around sturdiness of the Hasbro stuff. Completing Maximas Pro kinda makes me want a new Hasbro Defensor.
