Comparing Battle 25 to Battle 7 and 13 it seems to me it's another variant looking at it's sides.

Also it has a different gunship from the two since it does not have any protusion at it's bow.

Battle 25

Battle 7

Battle 13

A variant perhaps, but I'm pretty sure it's the same CLASS of ship in any case. In any case, we don't know if Battle 07 is a "unique" ship or representatve of ALL New Macross carriers. Battle 5 and 13 were different, though arguably Battle 5 had two sister ships.

Either way, I'm a little confused as to why NUNS didn't react more. The gunship of Battle 25 should have been a major player in the Episode 14 battle, and they didn't even finish transforming the ship. The second the Vajra fleet defolded the ship should have popped off its moorings and started firing. Even if its purpose was defensive, the target was obviously the Island Cluster... B25 should have kicked major ass! And yet Quarter gets to have all the fun.

Interesting you pointed out Macross 5.

It may be the case that every time they build a New Macross class battleship improvements and upgrades are added making each generation unique.

That could be the reason why in VFX-2 they immediately identified Battle 13.

Only Battle 13 had that configuration.

Leads me to ask, which New Macross Battle Carriers do we have pictures of? 5, 7, 13, and 25? any others?

Yep only those.

Though I'm still scratching my head where they placed Macross Galaxy's New Macross battleship.

Well given the unique design, and what little we see of it, might be nothing short of impossible right now ^_^

I have a feeling we haven't seen the last of it before the end of the show though...

Galaxy may not even use a New Macross-class. Something to consider.

Maybe the Galaxy Fleet has a Macross Half. :p:lol: Or a Macross Quarter with yellow colors, since the Galaxy Fleet seems to like bright colors. Then we could call it a Macross Quarter with Cheese.

Seriously though, I do wonder what the Galaxy Fleet has. If they have a New Macross Class battle section, or something substituting for it.

Well, Japan does use the metric system. Check out the big brain on Sumdugai! :)

Perhaps as someone once suggested (I forget who) a Macross Royale with Cheese.

Here is a possibilities, what we have seen of Macross Galaxy may in fact be the carrier. Who knows.

I was wondering if its some sort of second or third generation of the Megaroad class or a derivative therof.

Maybe for maximum cheese it will transform into some uber battleship that will require both the Quarter and the Battle 25 to take it out... B))

I think it's the same reason that up unitil episode 14, the VF-171s couldn't hit the broad side of a barn while the VF-25s were

cleaning the Vajra's clocks. The SMS are obiviously the heroes of Macross Frontier thus their pilots and their mecha are the stars of the show while the NUNS are for all purposes Cannon fodder, and we probably won't see the Battle 25 in action.

We'll get to see Battle 25 as soon as they're done making the CG model. Also did anyone notice that the VF-171 was equipped with the same missiles and AIM-7 Sparrow model from Macross Zero? Maybe they're space Sparrows. Also the Macross Chronicle has just announced that the VF-0's first flight was in 2004. It truly is the first VF.

Well, some of us would consider it a bad thing not to see Battle 25 in action. Putting the 25 out there would provide plenty of opportunities to give some scale shots, showing the size difference between the two, and it certainly stands to reason that the cannon on Battle 25 is more powerful than the one on the Quarter. Seeing the 25 in battle would also give the opportunity for the Quarter to show it up, heh.

Another thing is that Battle 25 might have a different bridge configuration (or MF only showing a different C.I.C. of Battle 25). I would love to see the real Battle 25 bridge, complete with bridge bunnies and a huge opening on the floor for the Captain's Hippocow pet ^_^ .

Few things that I want to see in MF:

- VF launching from either Battle 7 or one of the Uraga class ship.

- Battle 25 in action (transforming, fring Macross Cannon, being destroyed)

- More action shot of the new Stealth Cruiser and the Upgraded NorthHamptons

- VF-171 with FAST pack or Armored VF-171.

- Gubaba's ^_^

If I understand it correctly, the reason why SMS and other military type civilian contractors exist in Macross Frontier, is precisely because the NUNS reacts too slowly or not at all. Ergo, having them react fast nullifies the need for SMS.

One other angle to consider is the time it takes to detach the Battle 25, turn it around, transform it, and charge up it's gun to fire (I figure transformation is needed because we've yet to see any of these Battle ships or Macross Quarters fire their main cannon in anything but battroid mode!) There's no telling how many years it's been since they last detached the Battle 25 from the City 25. In other words - is it rusted on?

The episode did show us the Macross Quarter turning around (after it had already transformed and was laying some serious waste with it's main cannon).

I admit it, I'm silly. ;) And, I was hungry and wanted a burger.

Back onto technology, I wonder if the Q-rea has any kind of SWAG system or some kind of energy reinforcement system, since Kuran had taken some direct hits from Brera's gun in episode 9 and didn't seem to take any damage until he hit her Q-rea some more.

That's still the SMS cattle-head Skull insignia.

As for the 171s, I'm more amazed at seeing the thing mid transformation.

Anyway, back to the topic of ships. Anyone know what the ship I've encircled in this screen cap is?

post-8290-1216131242_thumb.jpg

That ship (and the other one behind it) looks suspiciously like the Gunships for the New Macross Class, they even have what seems to be a "handle" for the NMC to grasp them.

Perhaps I'm not seeing an alternate interpretation of what I wrote, but I definitely don't believe the Battle 25 is single mode. The Battle 25 is a New Macross Class ship so I'm confident it transforms just like every other NMC vessel. We don't have to see it transform. In fact, given the official information about the New Macross Class vessels, we have no choice but to assume the Battle 25 can transform until we're specifically told otherwise. Like I said, unifiying the facts, always.

Meanwhile lets try to figure how the heck do they fit a New Macross Class in Macross Galaxy.

MacrossGalaxy2.jpg

MacrossGalaxy1.jpg

Compared to a Dulfim type Macross Galaxy isn't really that big. I'd venture to guess more or less the size of a Megaroad.

The way I see it half of Macross Galaxy was separated. The lower portion could be the city block.

The upper portion could be the NMC.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say, no. If there's a NMC ship in the fleet, I would wager it's not visible in that picture. Why assume that Galaxy would recieve a NMC battleship so entirely different from every other ship in the class that it would be a painful stretch of reasoning to even call it a NMC? Galaxy appears so different that it's entirely likely that the accompanying NMC ship doesn't connect to it in the same way that it would to a NMC city section.

Also, none of the Dulfim type ships are in any position where we can really get a good idea of scale. That thing could dwarf Frontier and nothing in those screenshots would contradict that. You can't assume the smaller Dulfim type ships are behind the Galaxy. Not unless you see it overlapping them.

On the other hand, there's a smudge of pixels near the rear of the ship that kinda look like a Macross style bridge, so I wouldn't rule out Galaxy being Megaroad size, but with an accompanying NMC battleship.

On the other, other hand...in the opening colony map graphic we see Galaxy marked with a NMC colony ship icon, so I would certainly take any information from that with a huge grain of salt. There might not be a NMC ship in that fleet at all.

Link to comment

To wit, the same icon was used for the Macross Frontier fleet... And while it has a "dome" style city, it's NOT proportionately the same as the "Island Cluster" dome that Frontier has. The icon from that CG overview seems more like the smaller "City" dome from Macross 7.

So, it may simply be that a New Macross class ship is assigned, and that a colony ship of SOME sort is part of the fleet. Galaxy may have an NMC assigned, but not literally attached to the colony ship, and for all we know she was destroyed off-camera.

So far the Macross Galaxy and it's fleet are mysteries. It did have what appeared to be Zentradi escort ships, but the Macross Galaxy itself as well as the orange escort ships like the Dulfim are totally new and of unknown classification.

We know many early fleets prior to 2030, like the Megaroad colony fleets and the Research fleets, were not lead by NMC vessels. The Macross Galaxy could also be such an exception. Clearly the Galaxy itself is no NMC. It may have a NMC class attached, but the city/island/whatever portion (the only part we see) is clearly not a city class ship.

Can't really say much about the fleet at this point.

I'm trying to figure out what that glow is coming from at it's bow.

Is that an integrated Macross cannon or something else?

The discs look like they could be windows to the few portions of the ship that have external windows for the occupants.

I built some comparison pictures and a special version of the Macross 25/Frontier screenshot.

First pic Battle 7 and Battle 5. (Battle 5 is more Zentradi-ish)

Second pic Battle 7 and Battle 13 (Battle 13 seems to be more well armored )

Third pic Battle 25. (Doesn't have a protusion on it's gunship.)

A very least there are four variants of New Macross Class.

Unlike the other NMC, Battle-13 are seems to be made specifically for combat (the other NMC are designed to act as a command center for New macross Colony Ship).

Also the lack of PPB since Macross 7 may indicate that PPB system for capital ships is probably has been replace by a full barrier system (repulsion field).

ok.... ok.... ok... i'm gonna eat some crow. That pic, without much doubt, is a NMC ship (you can see the barrels on the Gunship portion of the vessel clearly)...

nice enhancement.

Good episode for the 171s, but after seeing it I have a few questions. First off just where is the gun pod mounted on the 171s. If you look at the image that grss1982 posted showing the 171 in mid transformation you can see the gun pod already in the right hand and on the legs there are what looks to be missile launchers ports. So would it be safe to say that the pod is mounted on a centerline hardpoint, or perhaps it is stored in the arm of the VF in place of the laser guns of the VF-17s. From the look of the pod it has a faceted shape to it, so it might have some low observable capability built into it for external carry, but where. On the note of the internal missile launchers, they look as if they would not be of any good in Gerwalk or Battroid modes as they are on the inside of the legs. Oh I would also like to see the 171 with it's undercarriage deployed, I can't think of a place left on it as to where the main landing gear could be. And after this last fight I think that it's official and Luca needs to be put in the BACK seat of the RVF and get someone who can really drive a VF as his pilot. I mean come on he didn't even get one round off from his gun. I'll give him credit for going after Skull-2 in the first place, but the kid has got to get into the fight or get out of the way. Any thoughts?

I'm tossing in an image of the 171's ventral side for those who have not seen it yet.
