DX VF-1S Roy Armored Valkyrie

I must say, I really like the beast! Although it's a regurgitated VF-1S and a Fantasy GBP-1S, It's still a very plausible kit and looks absolutely stunning!

When I first saw the picture of all the GBP's from 2020, I thought it looked stunning! but never thought it would ever be a thing.... Nice that this Beauty was finale made available! 🤗 now when do we get the Max with GBP-1S? 🤪

Still don't understand why this feature was not given to us in this GBP!? After all the normal colour GBP even came with an extra head! so it wouldn't have broken the bank! 

Only thing I thought it might be a problem is that it wouldn't fit, but that not the case either...😢

So Roy has a special message for Bandai! 😱

I guess they ditched that feature because they'd also have to make a space helmeted Focker figure as well, maybe there wasn't time for development for whatever reason.

But it's also not a feature used in space, It's for getting in and out of the Valkerie in Battroyd mode, so no space helmet needed! Bandai was just being lazy 😉

I agree that they should have included the raised seat.  I guess technically, Hikaru is shown getting into the Armored VF-1J in the space helmet,

I thought once they left earth, all the space scenes with valks had the pilots with the space helmet, only the earth/atmospheric episodes had the open faced helmets.
Of course I could be completely wrong and will be the first to admit it, but that is what is etched in my old memory.

Crack in the canopy during battle in space without the enclosed helmet has a very different end result 😛

They don't use a closed helmet all the time when they are in space.

Hikaru closes his helmet just before battle in ep 27 

And in ep 24 Max and the other dude are walking in the hangar without helmet. 

Hikaru maybe for an unknown reason was wearing his helmet closed while rushing to board the VF-1J

Honestly not really sure either! Wasn't really meant to be super accurate back then, Since it was Teenage entertainment, but Hikaru had better open up that helmet since he's getting no air and is turning blue! 🥶

Bandai STILL got the grey toooo dark on the DX release GBP Armor....Mind you it's still waaaay better than Yamato/Arcadia did with the dark blue...😆

Honestly not that worried about the shade of gray that Bandai used for the DX GBP-1S, Since painting the cells by hand could always produce different colour nuances... I think their colour matching is top notch and haven't been disappointed with the work they have done. The markings may seem a bit overdone, but it makes them stand out! They can keep at it as is!

I ordered this from yoyakunow for￥49,510 and shipping is an additional 19,430yen for FedEx shipping (lowest cost option). With these new tariffs and rules, I'm a bit confused because they asked me to decide if I want DDP (Delivery Duty Paid) shipping which I'm not familiar with and this is the first time using a proxy. Their description of DDP was a little contradicting possibly due to translation, does anyone know which option is better (use DDP or not) and do I pay customs fee separately on top of the 19,430?

If you choose DDP the retailer will pay for all duties and taxes! If not then you have to deal with you're lokal customs office and pay all the fees yourself!

This is how I purchased mine. DDP means you pay for the tariffs up front through the retailer. If not, I believe you pay FedEx the tariff fees when it arrives in the US. Zero issues with DDP and it arriving quickly through FedEx.

Also this toy is amazing and worth the high price tag and shipping.

it doesn't pop up frequently enough on Mandarake/Jungle yet to have a good chance of ending up in a retail branch.

 

Better use a proxy like buyee to buy it now/soon from Yahoo fleamarket (several listings available currently around 60k yen price) and send it to your JP hotel/accomodation from buyee warehouse afterwards.

So I just got back from Japan and was able to find a couple places with Roy's GBP. One store had 2 of them at 62,980 yen. It was a smaller shop in the same building as Ami Ami. Then I was able to find another one at Trader Akiba at 49,800 yen. Obviously I ended up getting that one. Figured with the exchange rate, tariffs and shipping I was still making out better than waiting for April release.

Congrats on being able to get one at a somewhat reasonable price! Saving on shipping is a large sum! And it's a keepsake, to your visit to Japan.... So when you play with it you can always thinks about you're experience trying to hunt one down! 👍🏻

Thanks! I would highly recommend a trip out to Japan. Akihabara is amazing for fans of anime, manga, airsoft, etc. There is just sooooo much to see in person!

Actually found the prices in Osaka more reasonable then Akihabara, It's a major tourist center and the charge through the nose there! When I was there two and a half years ago I I went  to Osaka first then Tokyo, I found almost everything there, and it was 20% cheaper then Akihabara or Tokyo in general!
