Was KK also responsible for how badly the prequels sucked?

Yeah, those were pretty bad.

Blaming Kathleen Kennedy for all of Star Wars's issues is like blaming the CEO of McDonalds when your local McD's gets your order wrong.  Yeah, the person responsible and the person you're blaming are in the same general organization... but they're almost completely uninvolved with each other on a day-to-day basis.

Unfortunately this seems pretty true. I believe that no matter who was in charge, it would have still been a mess. Everything Disney has had their stamp on in recent years has also had their stink. KK wasn’t in charge of the Eternals or Secret Invasion or She Hulk. Disney, just knows how to ruin a franchise, no matter who takes charge. They can ruin Marvel or Indy or Star Wars or even their own stuff like Pinocchio. They just know how to make bad choices these days and every once in a while something does get through and ends up good, but they don’t seem to understand what makes that good movie or show and they pump out 💩

Kathleen Kennedy's just a convenient blame figure for the Star Wars fans who buy into culture war BS.  She's the studio president and CEO, FFS.  It's not like she's in charge of development of new Star Wars stories herself.  Even if she were, it's weird how fans only ever want to credit her with the stuff they don't like... as if fan-favorites like The Clone Wars seasons 5-7, Rogue OneRebelsThe MandalorianAhsoka, and Andor weren't all made during her tenure too.

The blame for Star Wars's struggles under Disney rests farther down the chain of command with promoted fans writing fanfic-tier material and the studio's self-defeating goal of trying to satisfy die-hard fans determined to hate anything it does and appeal to general audiences at the same time.

This is why posting a rumors/maybes/I-heard.../pre-trailer/etc on our forum may not be beneficial.

The ‘Star Wars’ chief is staying on at Disney, despite a report that she’s leaving. At least for now (CNN)

That is, if anything, the most perfect and hilarious outcome to this discussion we could have asked for. 🤣 👍

Hell, it's been reported that Kevin Feige is going to, EVENTUALLY, step down from Marvel Studios for the last few years now. Has he told HR and the execs he's actually going to do it? No. Then it's not happening, YET.

Well well well. Looks like in a heavy Hollywood spin way Kathleen Kennedy is still leaving Lucasfilm but by her "choice", lol. Her choice or no choice, it reads like she'll continue destroying leading LucasFilm till end of this year.

As a Star Wars fan I'm looking forward to 2026, if not sooner 😎

She's playing with the word retiring because technically she will still be a producer but she's stepping down. She's always been business like.

This is the: i'm not retiring, i'm not being pushed out" i'll take my time finding a successor interview.

All the comments are: the neck beards nerds and chuds won. lol

Considering she's 71 and has a whopping 44 years as a producer and 12 as President and CEO of Disney LucasFilm to her name... nobody'd blame her if she actually took a full retirement.  It's a hell of a career.

If she were being forced out, it'd be something like what happened to Carlos Tavares last December.  No advance notice, no talk of choosing a successor, just "We've decided to part ways" and an immediate and unfilled vacancy.  (Not that anyone will miss Carlos.)

Yeah, the brainrotted culture warriors aren't exactly ones for little things like perspective.

So she's not stepped down yet, just actively looking for a successor?

That's also far better treatment than ex-Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger got last year, which was exactly also as Seto described, just a sudden "it was the honor of my lifetime to lead XYZ etc." announcement and a retirement package.

Well, whatever it is, I'll be sure to check back when they announce a good reboot of The Acolyte. Dunno why that show in particular elicits such a response in me, but alas...

Five years after Ep 9. I wonder what the Far Away Galaxy has been up to since then...

Probably fighting the remnants of the First Order, the same way the New Republic spent years fighting the remnants of the Empire.

X-Wings, TIE fighters, things blowing up... should be a decent popcorn action flick at the very least.

So movie 10 will be the Second Order’s rise to power when they will use the Death Star Killer Base v3 to destroy the New New Republic?

Rey has gone missing but a young and gifted person will find the Millennium Flacon (this time with a hexagon shaped radar dish)?

I'm ready for DS V-III to be the size of a solar system, with every planet holed through and fitted with focusing crystals. Once they all align, the Nu New Newest Newer Republic better watch out!

I think the real question is, How does warfare change after Andor and the sequels and stuff?

do we get more lightsaber ships? Are tractor beams mostly unused anymore? Are light speed suicide ship tactics a deterrent? Is mounting a Jedi as a hood ornament better than a the usual shielding?

All I can think of with that quote about ever expanding Death Stars is "Gurren Lagann", without the charm of course.  It does give DisneyLucasFilmInc a direction statement, perhaps I can sue for a finders fee in a few decades (well, my offspring can).

The real question is even more direct than that...

"Does warfare change after the sequels?"

With Dave Filoni still firmly in charge of Star Wars, the obvious and extremely safe answer is "No".

Part of it is that LucasFilm CCO Dave Filoni clearly does not like to leave his creative "safe space" (Star Wars: the Clone Wars), but to a large extent the lack of any real change will be easily attributable to the fact that the two confirmed post-sequel projects in development are only set a few years after the Rise of Skywalker.  It's unlikely that war will change, both because it hasn't meaningfully done so in the 68 or so years of time encompassing the Skywalker Saga despite three major wars and because technological improvements are a main driver of change in how wars are fought and technology in Star Wars seems to be almost entirely stagnant across at least the 168 years of onscreen time we've seen thus far.

Given that both of the announced post-sequel movie projects are supposedly set only about 5-15 years after the events of the Rise of Skywalker, I think it's safe to say that we'll be seeing the scattered remnants of the First Order harassing the reconstituted New Republic or whatever successor state replaces it in the same way we see the scattered Imperial forces harassing the New Republic in the time between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens.  Like what we see in The Mandalorian and Ahsoka.  A very cynical part of me is inclined to suspect they'll try to go for an EU-esque approach to the period similar to what the previous work titled New Jedi Order did.

That situation likely suits Dave Filoni's creative process just fine.  He won't have to develop a new antagonist faction for either project.  He can just rebrand the Empire again, and if he wants a dark sider for Rey's crew to fight he can just have some forgotten Sith apprentice come out of the woodwork the same way Order 66 Jedi survivors have been doing for decades.  Starfighter's so close to the previous film he doesn't even have to come up with new designs, he can plausibly continue to lean on the existing designs from the previous film which were themselves just the classic designs from the OT with minimal facelifts.  It's a near-perfect setup to play it extremely safe with future projects.

The one risk I feel like they're taking is basing another movie (New Jedi Order) around Daisy Ridley's character Rey.  Even excluding culture war nonsense - and a directoral choice seemingly intended to provoke culture war nonsense - Rey is a polarizing character to the target audience.  She wasn't handled well in the sequel trilogy, so a lot of the audience is seemly rather ambivalent about her return.
