no3Ljm Posted May 28, 2024 Posted May 28, 2024 This is a nice Macross Plus Ultimate Edition Blu-ray set coming to North America, Europe, and UK. But I don't collect Blu-ray/DVDs anymore, so yeah. Quote

ScrambledValkyrie Posted January 16 Posted January 16 Does anyone have any knowledge of where things might stand with the releases that RightStuf had announced, given that they were apparently dissolved and merged into Crunchyroll a few months ago? Frontier and 7 were the 2 Blu-ray releases I was still hoping for, even with the recent streaming release on Disney/Hulu, since those are the only remaining Blu-rays that have yet to see English subs. (I'm excluding SDFM, since I doubt we will ever see an English subbed version of the Blu-rays in my lifetime.) Quote

It wasn’t too long ago that I never thought Delta or Frontier would be streaming on U.S. services Quote

Unfortunately, the only word to date (as of 9/22/23) has the been the response Crunchyroll provided Anime News Network that there was "no effect on" licenses to the various Macross content, post acquisition of RightStuf. Unless they're contractually obligated to produce those home video releases, I do worry current Crunchyroll may view the Macross licenses as a sunk cost to the RightStuf acquisition and merely let them expire. Of course, it could turn-out a blessing, if some other company eventually got their hands on the rights; it's just frustrating that it'd probably be several years down the road, since most anime licenses are five to ten years. JunkerWold Posted yesterday at 12:44 AM Posted yesterday at 12:44 AM (edited) After their handling of Macross Plus, and just my general feelings on Anime Limited, they are not the company I'd have wanted to see manage the rest of the existing-franchise releases. The absence of Macross 7 in the announcement is disappointing, as well. Also, unless the sets for Frontier & Delta are mostly completed, then nothing is ever "coming soon" from Anime Limited. I suppose it's nice we're still getting physical releases, unlike other series that may be well be lost to the realm of streaming, but I still can't get excited by this news. Frontier and Delta, being the newer of the set, have better ROI than 7. Older shows get lower priority because of higher ROI, needs more time to remaster for Blu-ray, are less popular than their later cousins, etc./all the above. Quote

ROI yes, but 7 was already remastered on blu-ray some number of years ago. Quote
kajnrig Posted yesterday at 04:47 AM Posted yesterday at 04:47 AM I'm just glad to finally see some news on these again after all these years. I was nearly about to renew a Hulu subscription again. Then again, that new Predator series did just come out... Quote
Powered Convoy Posted 18 hours ago Posted 18 hours ago Good news. Also hope Big West sells some of that Anime Expo merch online. Quote
