chyll2 Posted October 24, 2014 Posted October 24, 2014 wow that rex is aaaamazing! it contains more detail too, plus it is already camo painted.
mslz22 Posted October 24, 2014 Posted October 24, 2014 Just to be clear, I'm still finishing the molds and doing this for anyone who wants one between now and like the end of the year. General rule of garage kits, no competing. Too bad Mike's ending his kit production. http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=37927&page=5
xrentonx Posted October 24, 2014 Posted October 24, 2014 3A Rex is the best Rex no contest. I have him in storage 'cause I got no space. Someday I'll have a house and room to play with him
Major Focker Posted October 25, 2014 Posted October 25, 2014 a good friend of mine got one but he didn't have the shelf space so it was on a side table beside the couch. had to put it back in storage because the dog (shih tzu) kept humping it.
mechaninac Posted October 25, 2014 Posted October 25, 2014 ^ How undignified for poor Rex... but funny as hell!
kyekye Posted October 25, 2014 Posted October 25, 2014 Since we are sidetracked, here is my 3A Rex with 1/72 resin Rex. (yes. I love MGS and Rex)
spanner Posted October 26, 2014 Posted October 26, 2014 Damn, that is massive(ly awesome!) Agreed muchly!!
Mechapilot77 Posted October 28, 2014 Posted October 28, 2014 is this the xplus thing? if so its probably vinyl right? i know their giant godzilla stuff is.
Froy Posted October 28, 2014 Posted October 28, 2014 From the last pic, the back plate seems to be fixed in place. So, no firing action pose for this monster.
jvmacross Posted October 28, 2014 Posted October 28, 2014 From the last pic, the back plate seems to be fixed in place. So, no firing action pose for this monster. maybe they will make it swappable in the production version?
Valkyrie Griffon Posted October 28, 2014 Posted October 28, 2014 Not to sound too elite or anything but I just about don't care how much it costs, I must have one! Unless it's over a grand, then I'll spend at least a good 5 minutes talking myself out of it before I click the buy option anyways.
Kanedas Bike Posted October 29, 2014 Posted October 29, 2014 Not to sound too elite or anything but I just about don't care how much it costs, I must have one! Unless it's over a grand, then I'll spend at least a good 5 minutes talking myself out of it before I click the buy option anyways. Ha! I know that feeling. I'm just (still) really curious about the price. -b.
skullmilitia Posted October 29, 2014 Posted October 29, 2014 It's sad, if this was from 3A, it would be 500$, but be super articulated, and have lights, full paint, and full weathering. That's why I'm not going to be impressed with this If it's around the same price. Hell Rex and Ray are bigger, with more moving parts, and light gimmicks, and were around 450$
spanner Posted October 30, 2014 Posted October 30, 2014 more images from ToysDaily Dang that is looking pretty smart indeed! Definitely might be a case of "buy" regardless of cost! But where to put it..?
VF-18S Hornet Posted November 6, 2014 Posted November 6, 2014 Would it be around this size? This was the one at the MWcon, yes? Chunky Monkey next to it. If it has movable joints I'd get one but if it's in a fixed pose no ways. Is this the Yamato 1/60 prototype or a custom? I forgot (old pic). That's a 1/60, GOOD LORD!!!!
DarrinG Posted November 6, 2014 Posted November 6, 2014 Anxious to see some color pics on this - any ideas when we might get those?
EXO Posted November 6, 2014 Author Posted November 6, 2014 How many ways can you pose a Monster? I kinda think fixed posed is better... no droopy arm syndrome.
spanner Posted November 7, 2014 Posted November 7, 2014 (edited) How many ways can you pose a Monster? I kinda think fixed posed is better... no droopy arm syndrome. of this type, size & weight.. not much I'd say.. fixed or limited movement may be the way to go with one of these things unless they come up with some fancy new joint design that won't go stupid or floppy over time. Less articulation would mean less development costs which in turn could result in a lower RRP for us! Either way I wouldn't mind as long as its pose was set correctly to begin with.. kyekye Posted November 9, 2014 Posted November 9, 2014 this thing doesn't look good... Thread killer!!!!
Guest davidwhangchoi Posted November 9, 2014 Posted November 9, 2014 just speaking truth... in my eyes, i'm not really thrilled... i need some gimmicks. throw some missiles or shells in the arms and canons.
EXO Posted November 9, 2014 Author Posted November 9, 2014 throw some missiles or shells... I would love to...
Mommar Posted November 9, 2014 Posted November 9, 2014 just speaking truth... in my eyes, i'm not really thrilled... i need some gimmicks. throw some missiles or shells in the arms and canons. The gimmick is somebody is actually making one.
Guest davidwhangchoi Posted November 9, 2014 Posted November 9, 2014 (edited) I would love to... if you make a monster, i'm in!!! (based the projects you revealed at MW Con and looking at your facebook page: plastic cretins) Edited November 9, 2014 by davidwhangchoi
EXO Posted November 9, 2014 Author Posted November 9, 2014 I honestly think this is the best way to mass market a monster. It's light (vinyl), I really could care less about articulation on something that doesn't have a humanoid robot form because it's not like it can hold a gun or take a running pose. And it'll be released in color, assuming it has all the appropriate markings. 10 years ago, it would have been great if Yamato could have released their $350 price point 1/60 version but today, that's an impossible dream. The closest you'll get to a custom made one is Mike's project but it'll end up to be a similar non articulated display piece with optional features that you have the choice of building yourself. An articulated 1/60 one would probably need special material like metal joints for stop motion animation or 3D printed nylon joints.
Mommar Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 I want to actually be able to take down aircraft with it.
DarrinG Posted November 10, 2014 Posted November 10, 2014 The gimmick is somebody is actually making one. Ha. Yep. Well said . . .
Major Tom Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 Still in prototype model: http://www.taghobby.com/1-0/1-4/%E4%B8%8D%E6%96%B7%E6%9B%B4%E6%96%B0-2015%E5%B9%B42%E6%9C%888%E6%97%A5-wonder-festival-2015%E5%86%AC-x-plus%E5%B1%95%E5%93%81/
