Zinjo
More Sheryl goodness in this episode. Sheryl's birthday present to Alto is an offer to fly in a real sky, one that seems to continue on forever. She also chose an awesome place to give it to him, the deep blackness of space is a good contrast to the blue sky that she is offering him. Poor Ranka is left eating her bitter homemade cookies with the green rodent at the observatory. Oh yeah Alto sent Michel to tell her that he wasn't coming. She wanted to give him tickets to her first concert at Tenkuumon Hall. Ouch!!

wraith1701
He's Alto's dad's senior apprentice, but when Alto was disinherited, he was adopted into the family. Thanks. Was there any significance to the flash to Alto's dad lying in bed (asleep? unconscious?) during their conversation? And what was the purpose of his visit? azrael
Ouch!! Don't worry, the scales will tip in Ranka's favor later. Ranka had him the first 5 episodes. Sheryl got's him for the next arc, then the ball get's thrown back to Sheryl, then back to Ranka, then back to center, then to forward, then to center... Shouta
Pretty interesting episode and definitely Alto focused. So Alto is presented with three big choices, going home and becoming a part of the family again, seeing Ranka on his birthday, and flying across a true sky with Sheryl. It's kind of like a dating sim with all the decisions, haha. It's an interesting angle that Yasaburo brings up about Alto putting up a front and acting like he wanted to fly just to run away from the kabuki family (as far as I can tell on a quick watch). Alto vehemently denies it though. It looked like it was true until the flashback in his room. I guess Alto really did want to fly his entire life and was just flustered with Yasaburo. Ranka's got no courage to go after Alto, har. She realizes how close Sheryl and Alto have gotten and how her advances seem to be ineffective. She gets the slap when Alto doesn't show up either. Too bad, =x. The little green critter is cute. Sheryl is teh sexy in this episode, 'nuff said on her. I think this episode basically confirms that Grace is indeed the person working with Leon on things.
Garou Kuroryuu
I\'m liking the turn on this episode, Alto choosing to spend his bd with Sheryl. Surely, poor Ranka, but I wouldn\'t definitely like Altoh staying with Ranka. Ranka needs her own space for a successfull carreer. Sheryl already had that, let her enjoy a relationship with Altoh. Sumdumgai
Apparently the whole thing about Alto's dad being ill and all that looked like bs at the end of the episode. He's up fine and the day of Alto's birthday he asks Yasaburo what he wanted to talk to him about. "Nothing", since Alto didn't come. Now to figure out what Grace's true appearance is. Grace? Agent G? Something else? Sure as hell looked like Kamjin to me and a young Vriltwai. I wonder if they're younger clones of them. Makes me wonder if we'll meet an Alternate Miria. Master Dex
Well I've seen the raw now and I thought this was a pretty good episode as far as story and characters are concerned. I actually liked the folding bit at the end but that is just me, it is interesting to see the VF-25 with a fold booster, the VF-27's Fold Booster is weird looking. Also I was thinking maybe that fold booster was on the 27 in ep.7 but we just couldn't tell, we never really saw a dorsal view of the 27 in that fold. Though the question then is where did it pick up the booster after the battle. And then Alto deciding between seeing his sick dad (which turned out to just be fake it seems, Yasaburo just wanted Alto to come home or something), seeing Ranka or taking Sheryl's offer to go to Galia IV to fly in a real sky. That is a really tough circle of choices. I would have found a really hard time deciding. However flying is good, I can't argue with that. sketchley
They have commercials which are pretty damn awesome. Did you see the one for Metal Gear Solid 4 during the first commercial break? On a 37" Hivision (erm... Highdefinition?) set, it made me cry. That and that new Gundam game. If only VF-X2 could look that great... Nevertheless, Macross F has some pretty kick a$$ details. On the long shot floating over the colony islands behind the Macross 25, there are a bunch of Maizara and Uraga carriers floating in the upper mid frame, which I never noticed before. I'm not sure if they are new or not, but on a 37" screen, they were less than 2 cm in size...
Zinjo
Details details, ahem...Where did Brera get a new leg for his VF-27 from? Who fixed it? Inquiring minds want to know.... Wondering if they are retconning somemore though, all the Zent cap ships looked the same in flashback and the main eye sensor on the Q-Raus look like Klan's. I was under the impression the new sensor was a human/Zentreadi invention... Did they have the same sensor package on the Q-Raus in "Fleet of the Strongest Women"? Graham
Now for the dreaded question. How is the character art in this episode? Is it handled by Nara, or have they subcontracted out to a Philippine/Korean/Chinese studio again? Also, I take it there is little or no mecha action this week? The_WOZ
It seems that LAI repaired the VF-27. After watching the RAW, I take back my earlier statement about the SDF:M drama.
Major Focker
Don't worry, the scales will tip in Ranka's favor later. Ranka had him the first 5 episodes. Sheryl got's him for the next arc, then the ball get's thrown back to Sheryl, then back to Ranka, then back to center, then to forward, then to center... let's see... you mean 5eps per arc and it started with ranka.. then it's ranka/sheryl/ranka/sheryl/ranka by the time we get to ep25. dang, i hope that's not the case. go sheryl! i'm pretty much resigned though that the next good chunk of eps will be downhill for sheryl and favor ranka. and then there will a limbo arc where alto distances himself from both. and then sheryl FTW!!! stray
Is it handled by Nara, or have they subcontracted out to a Philippine/Korean/Chinese studio again? Vietnamese this time around it looks like... however I thought they did a really good job. The music really stood out to me this episode, really fits the mood of the episode perfectly. And, of course Ranka Lee First Single during the closing credits. AcroRay
Now for the dreaded question. How is the character art in this episode? Whenever it slips, I just think of two little words... Master Dex
It seems that LAI repaired the VF-27. After watching the RAW, I take back my earlier statement about the SDF:M drama. What makes you think L.A.I. fixed it? There was no indication of that. I'm guessing Brera and Grace have some markers they can call in to deal with problems like missing limbs and other damages. Hell if they scooped up the leg the thing lost they could fix the broken parts and just reattach it instead of getting a new one (or put a new one on while they fix the old one so then that in turn becomes a spare). The design of VFs is pretty modular as it is anyway. For Vrera's V-27, they could simply have a spare leg lying around to replace the broken one. guber143
More of a character centric episode this time (not that it is bad), but I found it a bit slow moving. As for the next week preview: Yeah for atmospheric dogfight!!
