  1. This was an issue on my end. I checked a more up-to-date Chrome installation on another computer, and all punctuation is rendering correctly just like in the second IE example. The moral of the story is that I need to make sure that my browser is getting its automatic updates. Apologies for the extra communication static in the feedback area.
  2. Mechapilot77: I think I'll join you in rewatching this. I'm actually curious about the dub after TangledThorns comments above.
  3. It's true that you won't be able to find a sealed VF-25G for 17000 JPY today. The VF-25A and VF-25F are better for the bargain hunter. The VF-25G is still available, though. Just reset your expectations. A sealed box will cost about twice MSRP. Me? On the Frontier side, I'm doing my best to be patient.
  4. This one is confusing. When I use Chrome to browse Macross World, periods do not render correctly after I reply to a post or create a new topic. I can type them, and they exist, but Chrome will not display them using the default font settings. I have to actually change to a specific font using the GUI drop-down menu (Arial, for example, but they all work), and then the dots appear as expected. Is anyone else seeing this? Is it a configuration or font issue on my end? It does not appear to affect other browsers. As a test, I brought up the forums using IE, and took a screenshot of one of my posts. The results are below: Here is the Chrome version. The spaces for the punctuation are there, but the periods are gone: This is the same post but rendered correctly using IE:
  5. Huh. I was completely wrong then! It's nice to learn something new. I still think the VF-25A parts look cool, and the gap does not bother me at all.
  6. Here's a visual, yf-29d. Look closely at the first picture. This is from the TREXTOYS twitter feed (the set that EXO posted on page 1). These parts cover the gap and may even lock the wing in place? I don't know. Do any members local to Japan have this now? And your photo with the VF-25A parts shows a gap: This is what the other guys are pointing out.
  7. Thank you! I've been getting a lot of inspiration from this thread. The more I see of the mass production VF-25A, the more tempting it is. It looks sweet in your display next to Ozma, Old Man.
  8. Another bump in funding before midnight, and another interesting anecdote: As of this moment, high-level pledges (I classify these as any pledge at or above $1,000) account for $39,000 or 27% of the total. BTW, I have not pledged to this project for laughs or for gain. As I stated on the first page of the thread, I'm sitting out. I learned my lesson with Robotech: The Shadow Chronicles and a couple awkward convention panels that introduced me to Kevin McKeever and other HG members out here on the east coast. Ah, my dazed and confused days! I did walk away with a floppy Robotech Masterpiece from Toynami. There's that, I guess.
  9. If you think it will help, then you should definitely share the image with Mr. K. For what it's worth, I also like the darker slate blue from the renders above. And remembering the color changes to the YF-19, I wonder if Arcadia is still testing to find the right blue? A kind suggestion would probably go a long way. I wish I knew Japanese.
  10. No arguments here, Deadeye! Discovering those personal tastes has been half the fun for me. And before I forget, a big thank you to everyone who has voted and/or commented thus far. That would be cool if we got more of a hint, but I need to keep my expectations in check.
  11. Spanner: I had to look up an answer to that question. "Unless you’re lighting your home, office, or factory with tanning-bed lamps, the main concern with certain lighting types—including CFLs and high-intensity discharge (HID) lamps—is that they emit enough UV to damage artwork and fabrics over time. High quality LEDs—thanks to their low UV emissions—are now the lighting type of choice for museums striving to protect treasured artifacts and maintain their original colors and patina. In commercial and residential applications, LEDs save carpets, window coverings, and painted surfaces from the degrading effects of UV radiation." The full text is through the link below: http://www.leapfroglighting.com/lighting_and_uv_radiation/ And here is a thread at tfw2005: http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/transformers-toy-discussion/743940-need-advice-re-display-lighting.html What I take away from this is that LEDs emit the least amount of UV light and are the best lights for displays. I'm still brainstorming a good way to diffuse the light or hide the strips on each shelf, though. Also, I have a dimmer/switch that I'll be using with the lights, so they won't be on 24/7.
  12. Keep the pics coming, everyone. Great stuff! Here are my latest arrivals. The large box was shipped from Jungle and the VF-27γ arrived from Hobby Search. I plan to display all of these when I get my Detolf lighting squared away later this week.
  13. Heh. The gender swap trope is older than William Shatner. I'll wait for the actual story too. Ironically, I thought Next Avengers: Heroes of Tomorrow already did a good job of introducing a young female replacement for Thor.
  14. Mr. March: HLJ still carries the 30th Anniversary VF-1J: http://www.hlj.com/product/ACA82001/Sci I think the YF-19 is more difficult to find now, but I didn't look very hard. If you don't mind using Nippon Yasan, they still appear to have the VF-1S Valkyries in stock: Arcadia Roy VF-1S http://www.nippon-yasan.com/macross/5554-1-60-vf-1s-roy-focker-special-movie-ver.html Arcadia Hikaru VF-1S http://www.nippon-yasan.com/macross/5787-vf-1s-ichijou-hikaru-special-movie-ver.html
  15. My order of LED lights arrived today. In the end I went with a DIY solution to keep the cost down, and make my own connections. I have two spools of white: one is 3100K and the other is 4000K. Here's a picture of the 4000K set from amazon: I'll be testing both beforehand to see which color temperature works best in the room that's been set aside. My detolfs have been scattered about unfinished while I've been waiting to wire them, so I'm pretty excited to start moving this project forward again.
  16. But it has already been said that we don't even know what this really looks like. Monitors do not capture color accurately, unless calibrated properly, and there are many variables affecting the quality of the blurry images above---variables that we are not privy to. Already, it looks like the prototype is using two different shades of blue or maybe two different lighting set ups for these teasers. I think the pitchforks can wait until there are better, more reliable, images.
  17. Cool. The photo angle was probably making it look odd to me.
  18. Thanks for linking to the RTSC discussion with Tom Bateman, azrael. I missed that the first time around. Now I'll go catch up on some overdue reading...
  19. Thanks for the post, Agent One. That's the first I've heard of Robotech 3000. At first glance, it reminds me of the many pure CGI series that were broadcast from the mid to late 1990s.
  20. The color is off by a hair. I think it would be a great boxed Bandai alternative, if no other solution materializes. However, the T-Rex custom parts do look like they have a better fit.
  21. I like the color too. I haven't seen enough of these to be able to guess at the background. I thought it was a table cloth or something similar with texture. And my eyes could be deceiving me, but I do think there is something odd with the lighting in this teaser from Mr. K. There seems to be some serious glare around the cockpit. Is it flash or photoshop? I don't know, but my first impression was of the 1/72 Hasegawa kit:
  22. Heh. It's an interesting "what if" scenario. I can see both sides, but I agree with skullmilitia. The more time that goes by with no news, the more I wonder if Arcadia has something in mind. I guess we will all find out eventually.
  23. Nice. You are right, though. Other Kickstarter projects have added more reward tiers, and there is still time for this one. I wouldn't be surprised if another $5,000 pledge shows up in two weeks or less. I think they backed themselves into a corner with the first pledge description. Specifically: "You'll be given the option to have your likeness made into a background character for the "Robotech Academy" pilot!" (Gerli posted the complete pledge description on page 2 of this thread. It's ironic and funny.) And I have no idea what that really means. But I can imagine something like this: A select group of people giving a frame by frame analysis to find their anime icon on random cells for bragging rights.
  24. This is the really sad thing about that Enemy Spy tier, even if it's just a troll/joke on their part. Meh. I had more to say, but it doesn't seem worth it for something so childish and ridiculous. Getting back to simple numbers, two things caught me off guard since I checked on the project yesterday: They have reached $100,000. The $5,000 pledge tier is full.
