  1. And hey, at least Tenjin's 1J visor is grey-ish.
  2. He told skullmilitia that it is still a secret. Who do I believe? Aw, screw it. I'm buying the armor set anyway.
  3. I find myself 'window shopping' the Destroid Tomahawks that are still warming retail shelves. I don't know why, but I can't even bring myself to pay >$100USD for the weathering versions. I think someone mentioned that a ground crew would be a good incentive for future releases. I think that's a great idea! Future Destroid releases need something or else they will be loss leaders. I guess Arcadia will figure it out eventually, if they intend to make the rest.
  4. I think this is what Seto was getting at before. The introduction to Macross by way of Robotech was an influence that ended with the conclusion of SDFM for many of us. I also didn't go looking for more Robotech stories after Rick and Lisa took off into the sunset. I went looking for more Macross stories, more Macross merchandise and more Macross art. I was surprised to learn years later that Robotech was something completely different and included two series that were unrelated to SDFM.. That confused me for the longest time. Yeah, I was more of a mild-mannered anime fan in the beginning.
  5. This part should be bold and underlined.
  6. I've lived in New York and Massachusetts, where A/C is less of a requirement and more of a nice-to-have during the summer. Around here, heating is the big money maker for the majority of the year. At least, that's how it has been historically. So temperature may not always be a concern depending on where you live, but water and pests are. A garage provides direct access to the elements, so unless there is a clever way to seal what you are storing, I would avoid it. Where I live, there are other factors to consider too, since many older New England houses have fieldstone foundations that breathe. This also limits basement storage in those houses because the stones weep when the snow melts. Sump pumps are the other big business in flood areas.
  7. Ryuko looks great. A Satsuki figma also appears to be on the way, per Tag Hobby.
  8. Well said, happy_spike, and more succinct than my rambling nonsense above it.
  9. Oh well. Not a deal breaker for me, but those would have been a nice addition.
  10. Besides, Roundy and Tree-Fungi Chewy are missing three (yes three) very important features: lipstick big hair rocking sideburns That is all.
  11. More private warehouse shuffling for me too. The upside is that I'll get some Macross stuff early that has been waiting for shipment.
  12. The video is bizarre. I applaud those of you who gave it time in an attempt to decipher the mess. I tried watching one of his Doctor Who reviews to see if he cut out the tangents and non sequitur for more coherent material... Nope. Each one is approximately 40 minutes of nope.
  13. Yes! I like the way you think, Scyla.
  14. Perhaps. I prefer to think of the armored 1J and Hikaru's standard 1J as mutually exclusive variants. I don't know if there was ever an official statement on this, or if it is just another fan debate. A head that we could switch out would ceratinly make everyone happy. And if it isn't included, I'll probably just paint that part to make it different from the standard 1J that I already have.
  15. I'm not sure if YF-29 is being serious. Throughout all of episode 9 the armored VF-1J has a particular look. I sold my Animeigo DVDs after picking up the Macross Blu-ray set, so I had to dig out some dusty copies of Robotech for this quick check of the video (I know, I know). There is one brief moment where the goggles appear red. I would say THAT is the animation error. The grey goggles are consistent. Here are a few more scenes for those who care: Hikaru from above, after he climbs into the armored 1J Hikaru descends into the armored 1J and the Valkyrie's 'top hatch' closes The armored 1J in flight, with the TV SDF in the background Edit: Arcadia has been good about adding sweet extras. For this set, an interchangeable 1J head (white goggles and grey goggles), would be perfect IMO.
  16. Exciting stuff. My forecast is that 2015 will be an expensive year.
  17. The display has white goggles, yes. Here is a picture from SDFM: And another from DYRL:
  18. Hm. If Arcadia is still using Yamatos for display pieces, then add me to the list of those hoping for a gray-goggles VF-1J in the final Arcadia release. That would be icing on the GBP cake.
  19. Thanks, azrael. I'm not as familiar with the movie characters, so I wouldn't have guessed ROTF. Edit: The latest artwork reminds me of The Shadow Chronicles. But instead of calling it dated, I wonder if it's simply consistent to the style of Robotech that HG wants to deliver? Given time, it would be interesting to see the final iterations of these models, to see what Creavision is able to do with them in an animated environment.
  20. Awesome! January isn't too far away. I better start saving my pennies.
  21. The stealth bomber? It is either Megatron or Dreadwing. Based on the dark color scheme, I would say Academy is riffing off of the IDW version of Megatron. Prime Soundwave transforms into the predator drone.
  22. No worries. I am having fun with our sidebar on English. I sent you a PM so that we do not continue to hijack YF-29's thread.
  23. Welcome to the boards, Lykaios! I'm a twelve-step lurker. The Macross World twelve-step program requires either a magic bag of holding or a magic wardrobe. I imagine the hardcore members no longer live with silly space restrictions. And out in the 'verse, some people call me David. It's nice to meet you.
  24. I love the food analogy! And after what I've been reading on the boards, I would add a few more details. A full course Macross would certainly exist for those of us who like every recipe (this would work for those like skullmilitia and me). A small main course of SDFM, for those who prefer the strict traditional recipe, without any flare (I know there a few here who would opt for this dish). A slightly larger meal that includes SDFM, DYRL, and Plus as the main course, and Frontier as dessert. Most likely, Zero is an appetizer that will inspire only a handful, like a fresh, raw seafood spread. Macross 7 is the culture shock: a truly funky recipe that incorporates a new ingredient, and a lot of spice and creativity. One has to try it before they can judge it. And even then, not everyone will walk away appreciating the taste. I wouldn't mind if a new series was more creative and off the rails like Macross 7. I would like to see what everyone involved (including Kawamori) would do when pushing the limits of the Macross formula today.
