  1. ^^Same. Add me to the already sold on it, placed my pre-order group. Besides, my VHS copy is getting really, really tired. I had the Manga "movie" release.
  2. This box, itself, is huge. It rivals the box used for the Macross TV box set! The art books are gorgeous, though, and everything is well worth the second purchase for me. Going through it all will be a fun distraction this week.
  3. Southern Cross was given the worst 'robotech' treatment, that's for sure. The story was cut to pieces. After watching it in Japanese, I thought the original was pretty decent, and much improved. I'm looking forward to what you have to say about it, David. As an aside, the Robotech dub for Southern Cross is one of the few English dubs that gave me nightmares. *shiver*
  4. The new look reminds me of the glamour shot of the Fire Valkyrie from Macross 7 TV's Seventh Moon opening. I do like it...but I'm sticking to what I wrote before. The new figures and add-ons are not enough of a temptation for me to pick up Arcadia's rerelease since I already have the Yamato set. That said, I hope this does well. I would like to see other Macross 7 designs.
  5. Glad to see that things worked out for you VF-19. A larger, faster NAS sounds like a nice treat after all the work you put into getting your main system back online.
  6. I would be on board for both of those too. I would also like to see Arcadia release Max's VF-1S from DYRL. Since Roy and Hikaru were released in such short succession, I'm kind of surprised that we haven't heard any news regarding a blue valkyrie with the new bright white DYRL scheme.
  7. The Windows mismatch sounds like a partitioning issue. If the drive is partitioned using Master Boot Record (MBR) partitioning, then Windows will not see the entire drive. In order to see the full 3TB, the drive should be initialized with a GUID Partitioning Table (GPT). I would check that first. If the drive is set up with MBR, then pull the data and start again using GPT and see if Windows behaves.
  8. Hm. I don't hate Bandai, but I'm not a fan of plastic wheels on...anything.
  9. Okay. A reset to factory defaults will usually rule out the BIOS. This is really peculiar, though. I have the Asus Maximus V Gene and have no problems with larger HDDs. The Max V Gene is based on the older Z77 chipset. Hm, for the sake of sanity, I am guessing that you have been using the following settings with no success, right? SATA Mode: AHCI Aggresive LPM Support: Disabled S.M.A.R.T. Status: Enabled HotPlug SATA1-6: All Disabled One last thing you can try is to change SATA Mode from AHCI to IDE. If that doesn't work, then my concern is that the Seagate HDD is failing, which may be why it isn't posting. However, you should be getting S.M.A.R.T. reports on the drive if that's the case. Since you noted that the drive is wokring with a USB connection, it might be worth running Seagate's diagnostic tools on it.
  10. I have been avoiding transformation (too busy). However, both my YF-19 and my VF-19 Fire Valkyrie are out in the open taunting me, so it is only a matter of time before I make a move on that front. A heavy dose of swooshing has been tiding me over whenever I pass the YF-19 by.
  11. Hi, VF-19! I hesitate to say that yours is a motherboard issue since you said that the configuration worked on your first boot. Have you tried removing the SSD from the equation to see if the BIOS recognizes the HDD by itself? I have read that the Z87 chipset can get funky with SSDs that use Sandforce controllers. I'm not sure what model your SSD is, or what controller it uses, but it is something to keep in mind while troubleshooting. Also, since you tried another, smaller HDD that worked okay, do you have access to another 3.0TB+ hard drive that you can try with your motherboard? And just for giggles, I would try the HDD with the Asmedia SATA controller instead of the Intel SATA controller in case you haven't already done that. Setting all the SATA ports to a hotswap configuration should not be necessary for a BIOS ID. That's confuising. What are the other SATA settings in your BIOS? And do you have a special boot order specified that could be leaving the HDD off the list?
  12. Impressive. And I like how you incorporated Max's color scheme, NB! Most of those components are still decent today. If you are able to get a better GPU, you should be good for a while yet.
  13. Yeah, the trick with the glare shield fooled me at first. I brought it up a number of pages back when my YF-19 arrived. I think it just speaks to how different Arcadia's YF-19 is from the Yamato VF-19 and how confusing the instructiuons can be if you are not giving them your full attention. That is my biggest critique, but given time I also want to take some thickness measurements with a small calliper. Also, the whole nose on the new YF-19 can be finicky in fighter mode. I keep expecting mine to click into place like the VF-19 that I have, but it just won't do that. The tabs are there, but the fit is different. And If I do not adjust the pieces exactly, then bits will drop out of alignment. All that said, I do enjoy the toy even though it is fiddly.
  14. You know, if Mr. K's mysterious extras include extra Fire Bomber figures like those, then I might budge.
  15. Yeah. A Basara custom this soon is confusing. And a Fire Valkyrie over the Zola Patrol VF-19P is even more confusing. I would love to see an update to the latter variant with a new Basara pilot and an extra Zola Pilot figure. It would also be interesting to see what Arcadia would pack in as extras to identify it more with Dynamite 7. I guess I'll keep wishing on a star. I have the Yamato Fire Valkyrie and Sound Booster too, so this is a pass. The upside is that Arcadia is doing repaints and I can patiently wait for them to risk the more unqiue 19 Valks.
  16. Great photo, enphily! I love how Basara is just chillin' with the two Isamus. And thank you for showing off the YF-19's open cockpit mechanism. I wouldn't have thought to push the forward triangle down before looking at your picture and then consulting the instructions. That mechanism really is different from how the Fire Valkyrie's cockpit works, isn't it? And on my YF-19, the rear half was really snug and took some work to wiggle open. I have to say, the more I play with the YF-19 the more I like it.
  17. My YF-19 arrived last Monday. I opened it on Thursday and popped the gear and played with the wings and the tail fins immediately, as I often do with Valkyries. There are no issues but I am taking my time learning the transformation.
  18. Good point, MacrossX. Scyla, I think the plastic does 'feel' similar. Certainly I find that the weight is about the same when balancing both toys in my hands. There are differences in the design that are obvious. The YF-19's new wing gimmick does feel fragile to me and is the only flaw that sticks out when I pick up Arcadia's version. The Kai's wings have a thickness to them that feels a little more sturdy, although I didn't measure them so that could be my own bias at work here. Time will tell if the YF-19 wings prove to be an actual problem, but I do not like shifting them around too much. I also noticed that one wing mechanism is very stiff, whereas the other is nice and smooth. That could become a joint that needs repeat maintenance after a lot of movement.
  19. I noticed that on mine as well. I haven't checked for excess glue like the others, but I did notice that the whole suroounding area in fighter mode is a little fiddly. Another member mentioned that the head could be out of alignment, and that seems to be what was causing the flaps to pop up on my YF-19. The laser was not sitting flush and that caused the head to lift ever so slightly. Once I reseated those parts, the flaps went down flush with the rest. * and sorry about the double post *
  20. Although not toy related, I have had one brief run in with amiami. I pre-ordered the Macross Frontier blu-ray box set from them in September last year. The price was high and didn't fall under the store's normal pre-order conditions, so I had to pay for the set up front. The short story is that release day passed me by and everyone here was posting about the set. Curious, I checked my account history and the pre-order was gone! I sent a message to amiami customer support and they replied noting that they never had a record of my purchase, even though I paid! I was lucky I kept a copy of every message and every paypal statement related to my order. Now I stick with amazon.jp or cdjapan when buying discs. The YF-19 was the last toy pre-order I had with them. I have been disappointed with their point system and have been moving everything to HLJ to get away from that game, myself.
  21. I received my order from amiami on Monday (no horror stories here, thank goodness). I already have the Fire Valkyrie, so this is technically my second '19. I'm equally impressed by both Yamato's and Arcadia's designs, and can see where Arcadia took the engineering in a slightly different direction. I agree with others who feel that the wing gimmick seems flimsy. I find myself wishing for two things with this bird: An open canopy in fighter mode. Does the nose really have to droop? Am I doing it wrong? No more high-speed wing gimmick for future repaints.
  22. Kill La Kill shows that it is an unabashed and unashamed fantasy in one grand finale that rocked the house in these parts. I don't have too much to say without repeating the other kudos already delivered by other members. The Gurren Lagaan nod/easter egg during the huge battle was a nice touch, as well. I also enjoyed these parts: And yes, bring on the OVA!
  23. I have the last episode of Kill la Kill in my streaming queue tonight. On the Blu-ray front, I ordered Steins;Gate and Black Lagoon (both are favorites that I'm looking forward to watching again in HD).
  24. Yeah, an improved SV-51 would be an easy upgrade for me, if Arcadia ends up going down that road. And, much as I enjoyed Zero, I was thinking of keeping my display for the show small (limited to two Valkyries).
  25. I am cautiously optimistic that this will be a nice companion piece to my Yamato SV-51 Nora-type. And I really like how the wings form a flared skirt/cape in battroid mode.
