  1. No worries, pikashoo. It's been a while since I watched Up!, but I could have sworn that the dogs needed a jolt from some gadget the hermit, mad-scientist, antagonist-in-the-blimp engineered before they could do anything fantastic like fly a plane. My memory could be faulty on that point, though. As to your other point, thanks for clarifying again. I agree with skullmilitia. Creating a usable gerwalk mode seems the most realistic probability. Instead of legs, I was thinking of tracks or a wheel system that would take advantage of the terrain. I've alwasy been keen on seeing someone adapt an Ultralight to something like we see in Ghost in the Shell or Bubblegum Crisis.
  2. I cancelled my Grimlock pre-order. It's a budget adjustment and the price for MP-08 is a little too high this time out with the other stuff I have on order. If the box thing is any indication that Hasbro US might reissue Grimlock, then I'll just wait for that. I guess I'm not as interested in transforming dinosaurs as I was when I was a kid.
  3. Yeah, FSS the anime was disappointing. It's good to find out that the manga is still floating around, because like Kelsain I felt like I was missing something. Even moreso because a lot of people talked up the story when it was brought to the US many moons ago.
  4. Does anyone else get the impression that pikashoo has something against canines? In the real world, scientists are already providing data that dogs share intelligence or are smarter than toddlers (children 2 to 2.5 years of age). See the following link: http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2009/08/090810025241.htm Clearly, there are no toddlers capable of flying aeroplanes; however Up! is a fantasy and part of what makes that fantasy work is the idea that something was created in that world to increase doggy intelligence. If you are already discussing the whys and hows of making transforming planes from Macross real, then it is only fair to discuss the whys and hows of the real science that would be necessary to allow a domesticated dog to do more than it is naturally capable of doing. http://www.smithsonianmag.com/innovation/why-dogs-are-more-like-humans-than-wolves-22095590/ BTW, the idea that humans alter the evolution of other animals is not new. Speaking of robot technology, I don't know about transforming planes. Even in the fantasy world of Macross, there was a need for a Valkyrie to exist. I guess if there is ever a need for that sort of technology in real life, humanity may start building something interesting. But what robots are we seeing today? Quite a bit, but transforming bots? Not so much. Here is a short list of things that I can think of off the top of my head: Robots on the assembly line Robots that clean house Robots in the military Robots that keep company Robots that serve And then there is this prototype: If the law is changed, then we may also get access to cars that drive themselves. It is certainly an interesting time. I just think that both are within reach, myself, but transformation technology is not a priority. I see more reason to train dogs, and increase their ability to understand words, so that they can better help people in need than I do in a car or plane turning into something else.
  5. I ordered a second Arcadia Roy from HLJ instead of NY. Thankfully, it arrived with no QC issues! The NY one is getting plenty of play around the house, though. At the moment, it is on my computer desk in battroid mode.
  6. Amiami has shipped my backordered box set! It took a while with the pre-order mix up, but I'm glad things worked out.
  7. No sarcasm. I haven't seen those series at all, in fact.
  8. Thank you for the suggestions, DuelGundam2099. I'll have to give those two series a whirl.
  9. Ah, the importance of one letter... Leela even got to keep K-9 Mk I. Hm, if Moffet does more with Gallifrey, I wonder if Louise Jameson will reprise her role?
  10. I agree that Valvrave is not the worst show. Somewhat related, albeit a little odd in context, I couldn't get into Code Geass and never saw R2. Valvrave started off with a nice dramatic twist:
  11. I like the color too. For me, the Isamu special was a good introduction to Bandai's Valkyries. This is my first YF-29 and it arrived with no QC issue. I also decided to go ahead and pre-order the super parts.
  12. F-ZeroOne: No worries. You made a good point about the new series not being that bad. And even with Mel as a companion, I can still enjoy those cringeworthy classic episodes for other reasons. I'm actually surprised that I have nothing critical to say about the new series companions. Even the secondary characters, like Rose's mother Jackie were well written. It took me a while to warm up to Rory, though. Mostly because the idea of having two companions fall in love was such a novel idea for Doctor Who. Kelsain: That's a good point too. We do not have a new series companion like Tegan, who forcefully leaves the Doctor. I thought the first time Tegan left was really well done, and it it would be neat to get that type of a character again for the new series---someone who isn't always pining for the alien in the police box.
  13. F-ZeroOne...Ugh...You guessed wrong. Of all the issues spanning Colin and Sylvester's transition, I think Langford made for a more frightening companion than some of the Doctor's foes. Mel's high-pitched squeals are best forgotten. What boggles my mind is that her character was supposed to be highly intelligent. Alas, I blame the writing and lack of direction. It's a good thing McCoy got a bump when Solphie Aldred joined the cast.
  14. For a brief moment... All in all, I enjoyed the film noir take on the story once Kaiki was introduced. Fun stuff!
  15. Same here. I don't care for the gold accents on YOTH/Platinum Prime. However, the trailer would be tempting on sale. If it is possible to mod the Autobot insignias (that is, switch them out out) for Decepticon branding, then I would like to pair it with MP-10B.
  16. I don't think you have anything to worry about, MikeRoz. My pre-order for the movie box set is showing up with my other pre-orders at Amiami. For some reason the TV series box set required payment up front. I don't know if only my account was flagged or if others were flagged as well. Anyway, I hope to hear from Amiami before the weekend and get an update on why the TV box set is no longer in my order history. If it was cancelled like that NY order, I'll ask for a Paypal refund and order from Amazon Japan. Note: Amiami has great customer support. As I noted in the other thread, the store was very responsive and we sorted out the issue I was having with the TV series order. Because of that, I wouldn't worry about ordering anything else from them. However, I will make sure to watch out for those pre-pay purchases if another one pops up.
  17. Yeah, I pre-ordered the new movie box set from Amiami too, and I wasn't asked to pay up front. I have a short list of pre-orders that work exactly as you say. However, I was asked to pay up front for the Frontier TV series box set and add a note with the order number on my Paypal payment. After doing that, the payment was charged and I didn't think anything of it until I happened to check the status when you and MikeRoz started receiving discs from Amazon Japan. Once I did that, I noticed that my order for the TV series blu-ray set was gone. It's confusing because I do not have any Paypal record of a refund from Amiami, but there isn't much I can do until I hear from them. Conclusion: Amiami is responsive, and I am thankful for the store's pre- and post-sale customer service. I'm not sure if the original cancelation was due to something on my part or on their part, but it was sorted out once I verified my Paypal payment from September. If they are unable to get the set now, then I will get a refund and that's nice too, since there are still other options for getting the blu-ray box. Phew!
  18. Thank you for the update on the subtitle situation, flobo. I'm still waiting on Amiami to send out an order update for my pre-order for this set. Oddly enough, the record no longer appears on my order history? I wonder if my order was cancelled from Amiami just like Murphy had his order cancelled from NY. It would be odd if true, since I did everything by the letter and have not received a refund from them. All of my other Amiami orders are on record, though. Confusing... Anyway, I sent them a note using their contact form and will see what is up soon.
  19. You're welcome, David! On a related note, I am not sure if I have the patience for SAL shipping. However, the price is definitely tempting. On average, how much time does a shipment take to get to you by boat?
  20. My experience with international shipments is the same as dapro's and david's. I've had some hang out at customs for two days or three, but once they are out the tracking updates switch over to regular EMS and all is well.
  21. I'm having fun trasnsforming Arcadia's Roy 1S and messing with the option parts. It's a solid piece, even though I have one tailfin with a pitiful paintjob. I'm thinking of getting another for the collection since Roy's 1S is so iconic. I would keep this one as the "show" model that guests, both young and young at heart, can handle. Also, having both the Yamato and the Arcadia next to each other, I can also see the green in the off-white DYRL color of Yamato's base coat.
  22. Indeed. That's a good wish for Guld. Also, add me to the "preparation in progress" queue.
  23. ^Good points. The finale is only how many days away? This season seems to have been packed with details and character development.
  24. I keep buying Roy's VF-1S, so Hikaru's is the first VF-1 that I've picked up without a yellow stripe. It's fantastic and the paint is flawless. Yay!
