  1. LoL! No harm done. I realize now that the terminology was running away from me. I was misreading version 1 as version 2.0, which is what I have. And because of that misunderstanding, I was then misreading version 2 as version 2.2, which is what I thought everyone was talking about. I want to make it perfectly clear that I am not misrepresenting anything or trying to lie about something that I have no way of getting any detailed information about outside of this forum. For me, this is just fun. As soon as it isn't fun, I'm going to stop. So I guess I was getting confused about something. LoL! Anyway, I'm happy to share the picture of my Yamato VF-1S and to get all that clarity out there. I also agree with you about the Hikaru release. I understand that Roy's Valkyrie is popular, so if any fixes arrive down the line, then another release of Roy might have them too.
  2. Mind you, I am speaking only of the recent photo shoot with the two VF-1S toys together, and I cannot speak for anyone else. For me, the two toys look different on two counts: The cockpit in the Yamato sample looks like it has a different shade. The ejection seat triangle is closer to the instrument panel, rather than being closer to the seat. Here is a cell photo of my own VF-1S Roy (I now know that this is v2.0). It has the rainbow canopy and the original locking mechanism in the nose-cone area for battroid mode. It is not weathered and I have not applied any of the Yamato stickers, either. I think, in spite of the weathering (and the hidden mechanical differences), my VF-1S is a match for the stickerless Yamato v2 that Mr. K is using to compare with the new Arcadia VF-1S. But this is just a personal opinion and shouldn't be taken as fact. To me, I think it is obvious. And I thought it was obvious to you too. I apologize for misunderstanding because I'm not trying to flame or contradict you. These are just details that jumped out at me upon looking at the linked photographs. I thought that Arcadia had updated the Tampo to be more accurate. Until reading your translation of the notes and getting the correction, I thought that was a perfectly reasonable explanation for the differences. I also thought that was what Valkyrie addict was getting at...
  3. David, I thought the fact that one of those Roy VF-1S Valks was a Yamato and the other was an Arcadia was obvious, no? I am not confused by this, and I'm not sure how that idea popped up. I am interested in the change and concerned because of the reactions that we have already seen in this thread alone (and how similar changes might affect other releases). Personally, I think Arcadia could do better by making their VF-1 releases stand apart from the Yamato ones, and reducing the Tampo printing doesn't seem to be a popular decision at the higher price point (using Macross World as a small sample). I have no idea how this news is being received by fans in Japan. That would be an interesting metric, actually. However, as I have stated multiple times, it doesn't affect my puirchasing decision. I'm okay with applying stickers/decals or leaving the toy as is. I also want to see Arcadia succeed so that more toys like this one are produced. I hope this helps to clarify my point of view.
  4. And it could be anything. I mean, Arcadia might be tweaking things right up until the day of manufacturing. Looking at the version fully loaded with stickers, the ejection seat triangle seems to have better placement than the other "stickerless" version. I'm not sure what to infer from that, or if I should be infering anything negative from the photographs. Anyway, I'm with Scyla. This will be my first V2 VF-1 and I'm really looking forward to getting the optional parts.
  5. Heh, I was wondering about the water-slide decal rumor too. The linked pictures are a lower resolution and do not allow one to scrutinize the small stuff. Anyway, I'll keep my preorders and wait and see if there is more "sobering" news. I would hate to see Arcadia trip over something so iconic as the VF-1 this early in the game. But, then, there are apologies already and that is concerning. It's also making me nervous about the state of the new YF-19.
  6. That's a fair domestic price. The price at hkcollectibles is similar (you do save $, but you will pay air mail rates to the U.S. I think BBTS may have better UPS rates depending on where you live... Ouch. I just noticed that the USPS rates have skyrocketed.
  7. I have noticed that shows that are airing (or movies that are playing at the cinema) usually get spoiler tags here, if only for the finer details and plot points. If you can talk around that stuff, then you may be okay. However, I may be wrong. It's best to ask a moderator or post a site question. Personally, I'm just following 'net etiquette. For example, the Yamato 2199 thread is rife with spoilers at the moment because everyone interested in the show is watching the final episodes. The spoiler tags are nice for me because I have yet to watch those episodes. Of course, I can always join in the conversation if I want to be spoiled. The same is true in the Monogatari thread when those new episodes air.
  8. Yeah, I also don't care what anyone else says. BGC2040 was good fun. It will be a mircale if they get that TV series for this release, but oh what a miracle.
  9. I think the message to take away from this (and since this is the Internet, I could be way off base) is...
  10. Thanks for the clarification, David. I have a v1 VF-1S without stickers on my desk here at the home office, but the sticker sheet is in the box and that isn't handy. You are right in that I was starting to wonder if it was just the one triangle detail or if other details were going to require stickers as well. So that's good to know.
  11. Oh well, the tampo thing was a nice dream. Based on that decal/sticker sheet, it will be interesting to see the final version with just the factory paint job. I'm thinking we will get Roy's stripes, the black tail fins, the thrusters, the intakes, the detail around the cockpit, the base color for the fighter itself, and whatever accents I'm forgetting about in Battroid mode. I guess most of the fine details that Yamato used to add stock are now user-applied decals/stickers in this release? And, unless I misunderstand what is being presented in the photos, even the Skull Squadron insignia is now a decal/sticker. Interesting. The photos look great!
  12. Maybe Hasbro will go with the lower price but with "Hasbro MP-10" molded red plastic rather than red paint apps?
  13. I don't understand, what do you mean by tight shoulder joints? Are you talking about brand-new, out-of-the-box quality? I think all of the stuff mentioned so far is worth the price increase, especially if the extra tampo printing turns out to be a real thing. As nice as the detail is on my Yamato v1 Roy, there are some very minor imperfections that could use some improvement. I was impressed with how well the VF-1J Anniversary turned out and that gives me hope that the same attention to detail will go into the other Arcadia VF-1 releases.
  14. Great news! It looks the project made its initial goal with 25 days to go. And...I've decided to join in. Having subtitled BGC in HD with some extras will be nice, and not having to pay an import price is even better. After reading the Kickstarter page one more time, I also found more to like and less to worry about. Anyway, it took me two pages and almost a whole month to come 'round again, ha!
  15. The box art is so much awesome. When I saw it last night, I didn't know what to type. It bridges parallel worlds.
  16. Keith: I'm not worried about your dedication in this. And I really do appreciate what Robert Woodhead is doing. I hesitate and "wait and see" when it comes to specifics that seem odd like what I quoted above, that's all. It would be nice to see Hurricane Live and the animated music videos in HD. I noticed that there is a link to a sample on the Kickstarter page now, but I am unable to find the 1080p version... It also looks like they are working close with the Japanese Licensors, which is nice to read. AD Police was all right, so that isn't much of an incentive and I don't care about getting my name listed anywhere either. Meh, I still have 27 days to flip-flop.
  17. The Hot Toys model looks like a really, really good model based off of a live action movie. Has Harlock navigated those waters yet? I haven't seen the CGI movie, either, so I'm not sure how close this is to the new animation.
  18. With 28 days to go, it looks like this kickstarter will go the distance. It sucks that the limited stuff was severely limited, but this worries me more than that: I'm with david because of this clause alone. I do not like the idea that the project could change once it succeeds to raise funding. Too many Kickstarters are starting to do this sort of fudge after the fact. I was hoping that the old Animeigo team would avoid it. I do wish them mountains of success, though. And I hope this doesn't create an opening for endless debate on the final product.
  19. I got my copy of MP Prowl too. Instead of having a white paint defect, mine has a black/gray paint defect out of the box. One of the rear tires was missing the top coat of black paint in one section and was showing flecks of gray underneath, or maybe the gray for the wheel wells was applied sloppily and got onto the tire treads. I'm not sure how the paint is applied at the factory. Anyway, I fixed it with a plack paint marker that I had on hand. I can tell where I applied the fix, but it is practically unnoticable unless I look for it. Otherwise, the toy is great and has a fun transformation. I may haul out my G1 Red Alert and take some photos of the pair together.
  20. Parody is spot on. That's a great description. The supernatural moe drama, Beyond the Boundary, is holding my interest. However, Infinite Stratos season 2 is on hold because I want a few more episodes to watch before diving back in completely. LoL! Also, I want to try out some of the other anime recommendations in this thread...
  21. With the latest episode of Kill la Kill, I have no more doubts. This is good zany (sometimes pervy) fun.
  22. It still makes me wonder what, if anything, Arcadia would change in the current VF-1 design.
  23. I would buy an Arcadia VF-11MAXL, but I am a little biased.
  24. My mistake. I'll leave the error above as is. I forgot to mention that I have also been impressed with the enhancements each .xx release brought to the new Eva films.
