Better than most of the shows, with a nice twist at the end. Could make Power Rangers actually watchable.

Bandai Gobots/Machine Robo Series Toy Thread
Knight26 replied to David Hingtgen's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Leader1 looks great, the SR-71 bot has a halfway decent plane mode, and actually looks better then the RotF Jetfire, will have to how it looks painted up and from underneath though -
Bandai Gobots/Machine Robo Series Toy Thread

cool, now can we get some clearer pictures of the SR-71 mode of the one? -
Now we just need to get the two of them into cat suits or less and fight it out, mud helpful but not necessary.

While Paddington doesn't look like something I, or my boys, are at all interested in, the reviews have been overall good. Strange Magic on the other hand, the trailer made my boys say "That looks like a worse version of that Epic movie we saw a couple years ago. Hey let's watch Epic again, that was a fun one."

Star Trek Beyond (the not The Search for Spock)
Knight26 replied to areaseven's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Simon Pegg as co-writer is the first good news I have heard about this film. While he is a hardcore SW fan, he respects the source material, so hopefully we'll get an actual Star Trek film this time. maybe he'll even find a way to close some of the plot holes and stuff some of the demons back into Pandora's box from the last ones.- 466 replies

Just finished initiating my first Airworthiness Directive (we don't get to write them, that goes to the legal folks). It's a corrective action for a glitch that was discovered, that while it hasn't been a problem yet, could be. Cool to know that something I did will help keep people safe.

Looking at starting up my diecast plane collection again. The local hobby shop has the Italeri 1:100 diecasts fro $10 a piece, cheapest I have ever seen them, and once I start buying them they will order specific ones I am interested in. What is the general consensus on these, good, crap? I have yet to see them out of the package and the pics on flying mule don't seem to do them justice.

I remember having a discussion like this years ago. The consensus then was that the fights also had very different meaning. Ever saber battle in the OT was not just a fight of weapons, but of words and emotions. Ep IV: OBI-WAN new he couldn't make it out alive, he was buying the others time to escape and distracting Vader from the force presence of Luke, drawing the fight out by talking to him and appealing to what was left of his humanity. Ultimately he sacrifices himself to drive Luke forward and to "become one" with the force as a way to continue to teach Luke. Ep V: Vader is trying to turn Luke to the darkside, demonstrating the power he possesses. He is on the defensive for most of the saber fight, drawing out Luke's anger and frustration until the climax where he begins to make him more and more like himself before revealing the truth of their relationship. Ep VI: Luke is trying to save his father and draw him back to the light. He doesn't start going balls out to kill Vader until he realizes that if he fails that Vader will go after Leia, and since she is untrained, will probably turn her. Even then, his hack attack style fails once he sees just what that level of anger does to a person, then the Emperor goes balls out to kill him with force lightening. Ep I: There's no drama to the fight, it's just a fight, no philosophical goal, just good vs evil, the fighting is more frantic every blow is intended to be a killing blow. Ep II: More of the same, with the Dooku/Anaking fighting hinting towards trying to turn him, but even then, the frantic style of Anakin prevents that. EpIII: More the same to the extreme, jedi bouncing all over, Anakin straight up murdering Dooku, but again no major discussion to try and sway the other. Even the Anakin/Obi-Wan fight was all jumping and dancing about, with little attempt to draw Anakin back from the darkside, more just the two of them whining at each other.

Makes sense, except we still never see Vader or Obi-Wan doing any of the prequel level moves in the OT. Now maybe we can chalk that up to age, immobility of his robotic form, but it still is jarring to see the style differences. Luke definitely had no style to his combat with the saber, it was all hacking attacks for the most part, the baseball bat analogy works there. I wonder if we will see him and his student(s) having a more refined technique in Ep VII?

Ghost in the Shell Live Action - March 31, 2017
Knight26 replied to Mechinyun's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Well look at it this way, if it is good and ScarJo decides to skip on the next one, they can always say that she got a new body and find and actress that can play a more faithful Kusanagi. Also, GitS has a fair number of nude scenes, and aside from some poorly lit shots in Under the Skin, this should give everyone a nice look at her goods, LOL- 751 replies

While I am not wild about the red it is getting the best feed back. Anyway, I reset the fighter scene and added them back in, two different options here, with maybe some sub-options. I do plan to add some engine exhausts, and maybe course trails. Thoughts? set1 set2 I am thinking maybe the lead from option 2 with the trail from option 1.
-
I moved the temporary fighters around (will rerender later) and moved some other bits around too, I also lightened the armor and added a glow around the characters. THoughts? Red nebula (Suggested elsewhere) Put the groundplane back, not sure if it should remain.
-
well he is actually smaller, but yeah I need to figure how to show him being further away, might need to add a ground plane back in
