Latest update, shifted things about a little bit and recolored the characters, the are looking a little more tactical now. I may still go with the blue scheme, but the whole cover has a lot of blue at this point. And the individual characters:

I am loving how well DC is handling their TV properties, they have always seemed to do better on the small screen, when given a movie they tend to try and tell too big a story and it all goes tits up, *cough* man of steel *cough* In some wild fantasy of mine these remain separate from the movies except possibly fitting into the Nolan'verse, since WB/DC has said that the Nolan movies do not play into the new films. Of course I realize that won;t happen since Neeson is not playing Ra' Al-Ghul, le sigh.

I'll take that into consideration RL1, but I do plan to make another pass or two on the coloring and shading of the characters, this was mostly a composition pass to check on general colors and configuration. Now I have taken some other suggestions; moved and scaled some stuff around.

First mockup of the book 2 cover. Will probably raise up the trio and enlarge them, and group the fighters closer together. Thoughts on the composition?

SO who wants to place bets on the ID of Reverse Flash in this universe? I am still going with Dr Wells, I am Harry Wells, HG Wells? He is either reverse flash or a time traveler, possibly even HG Wells himself.

Terminator 5/Terminator: Genisys, opening July 1, 2015
Knight26 replied to areaseven's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
One of the reasons that certain sequels work is they either continue a story down a well laid out path or attempt to tell a wholly different story in the same universe as the first. Go to the Alien example: Alien was a sci-fi survival horror with great mood, pacing and an ambiance that still makes me jump sometimes. Aliens was an action flick in the same universe and upped the ante by making it an army verses an army. Both of these worked great. Alien 3 tried to rehash the original Alien but with prisoners fighting a single alien again, and honestly, it didn't work. Alien R was just an unholy mess that even Whedon couldn't save and in a lot of ways became a parody of itself. In the Terminator franchise: T1 was again a sci-fi survival tale, man vs super advanced cyborg, with an emphasis on action rather than suspense. Crud need to go will finish later.- 508 replies

Thanks, the sales of the novel have not been as good as I would like, but then I have not been able to do much marketing the last few months, and have almost no budget to do so either. I've gotten most of my sales from Amazon, a little off itunes, none of B&N or the others that I have seen. So book 2 will start out as an amazon exclusive, will consider putting it onto kindle unlimited. What is really hurting sales right now is a lack of reviews. Reviews sell books and without them I am kind of up a creek.

Terminator 5/Terminator: Genisys, opening July 1, 2015
Knight26 replied to areaseven's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
T1 was the best terminator film, period. T2 was a fun movie, but a bad sequel, it broke the rules established in the first film. Had they not done the whole "stop judgement day" thing I could have forgiven more of its flaws, in terms of being a sequel. T3 was horribly miscast and ended up more an action comedy then anything else T4 had great potential, showing us the future war, and having a good cast, but the writing and direction (sorry McG is not a good director, Charlie's Angels, bleh, any director that destroys a Shelby Cobra is dead to me) T-G: I dunno, will probably watch it on netflix unless the reviews are just spectacular.- 508 replies

Terminator 5/Terminator: Genisys, opening July 1, 2015
Knight26 replied to areaseven's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
The flinching while firing annoys the heck out of me too. The CG Arnold didn't look terrible, but I could excuse those things. What I can't is the idea of stopping Judgement Day, that was the worst part of T2. T1 was a perfect causal loop story and all the sequels have ruined that. Why couldn't they keep the loop intact? Kyle doesn't need to know that Sara was a badass, JohnC could have lied. People always say that T1 had such a bleak ending, but htey forget the part where Reese tells Sara that they won the war, that time travel was Skynet's last gambit, and without him knowing, that sending Reese back was part of the loop that allowed that to happen. Sara's surviving and getting pregnant is what allows the war to be won.- 508 replies

Thanks to Greg Lane for providing the character lineart for the next Spiral War Book, now I am working on the coloring and shading. I wish I was better at this and had more time to work on it. Any tips would be well appreciated. Blazer gets the cover again: This time Chris gets some cover love, and is actually dressed: And of course Gokhead, a Drashig with reverse hinged knees: oops had to fix the link ANd the first test of the trio together:

Edge of Tomorrow, on DVD/Blu-ray Oct. 7, 2014
Knight26 replied to areaseven's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
For an immediate future look the man-amps were fine. My biggest beef is that with exception of what, one or two guys, none of them were suits with armor. Those were not mobile suits or power armors, but straight up man-amps. COngrats WMC, any hints as to what movie, has it even been announced yet?- 180 replies

Knight26 replied to areaseven's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I saw the movie a bit back, forgot to post. It was good, not as good as the book/manga, and it was horribly miscast, the ending was so different from the book that is shouldn't even be mentioned, and was all based on the star power, they should have useda well known, but not superstars in the lead roles, then it would have been better. The suit designs are still bad though, but forgivably so since the story is suppossed be 5 mins in the future.- 180 replies

IIRC from the novelization, been decades, so bear with me. There were multiple "academies" There was the Imperial Academy and then there were merchant academies for training folks to be freighter pilots. The EU made it so that Biggs entered the Imperial Academy, earlier versions had him attend one of the merchant academies and steal a freighter, the Rand Ecliptic, the EU later made it an imperial strike cruiser or some such.

A couple of EU authors I have spoken to have been just fine with the decision to cut the EU as canon. They view the separation of the EU into its own timeline as the only way Disney could really proceed. One of them called the EU a giant out of control garden that the landscaper didn't maintain. Disney has basically closed off the field and started planting a new garden, taking only the best seeds and cuttings from the old garden to arrange as they see fit. So some EU stuff will creep into the new movies, probably some concepts and storylines, maybe just mentioning them, and even some EU books could be brought into the canon, with some rewriting to fit the new Disney canon. If the powers that be keep a tight reign on it this time then the DSWEU could be pretty good.

Interstellar - In cinemas and IMAX November 7, 2014
Knight26 replied to taksraven's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
In my mind, Interstellar's biggest flaw is that they didn't explain the science better, not dwelling on it mind you, but just a few lines here or there explaining more about the blackhole, about how the Ranger's engines work, just enough to quiet some of the science concerns. Also, while I understand that they couldn't communicate in real time with the Lazarus crews through the wormhole, why couldn't they once they were through? With the exception of the water planet and its time dilation issues, sending radio communications to the surface should have been relatively easy. Just a plot hole I noticed when watching it, but then the movie would not have been as exciting.- 197 replies
