2016!!!!! Man, somebody put the rest of our childhood heroes and icons into protective custody. No more, come on, no more. Goodbye Carrie.

I was thinking about something in regards to nerf lines. The new accustrike series is coming out/is out and the claim to fame is the new darts that promise better accuracy, at least at shorter ranges. Then there is the rival lines, better accuracy, good range, but the blasters tend to be much bulkier, and the ball ammo has never proven super popular. The Elite line is foam flinging fun with great ranges, some cool designs but horrid accuracy. Why doesn't Nerf consider a "pro" line with more powerful blasters firing Steffen sized (half normal elite sized) darts? Looking at some of the insane power and precision that the artifact/steffen breaches provide and especially the accuracy and power of the Explorer blasters, it seems to make sense. Make a higher priced, more accuracy/power derived line that will attract the airsoft crowd. Make it clear that these blasters are not for kids and price them in the $100+ range like airsoft guns. The nerf aftermarket shows that there is a desire for this with people willing to pay well over $100 to make these awesome, more accurate, and cooler looking blasters based on everything out there. They could then have either smaller magazines specifically for the pro line to limit cross use and automatically make it clear at nerf wars what people are using. Or, they could just offer two versions in different paint schemes and internals that still use the same sized magazine, but with the inner mag for the smaller, more accurate darts. What do people think of that?

I'll have to check my books, but I swear one of them shows the VF-1 using its hands to grab the arresting cable.

Alien: Covenant (formerly known as Prometheus 2)

The mess was because of the "script doctor" who came on at the last minute to ruin what was a great script beforehand.- 352 replies

In reaction to Coop: 5: I actually like these, nice cosplay toy, oversized, yes, but still fun 4: Agree 3: Agree 2: Fun Cosplay blaster, bad usability 1: I like the deploy, hard to mod, but great cosplay potential as Mass Effect Shotgun with how it folds up and out.

Simply beautiful, the model SDF and the model holding it.

The J-20 design appears optimized for front quarter stealth and high speed. It's a missile truck. Run in fast with minimal detection, drop your load into the AWACS, tankers and front line bombers then beat feat out of there. It doesn't matter if they see you on the egress because you're running behind a wall of radar, sam and AAA.

STAR WARS Merchandise Episode - 2
Knight26 replied to Black Valkyrie's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
That Star Destroyer kit looks amazing, I may get one. Has there been any indication of they will release any X-Wing or Y-Wing tie in toys for Rogue One? New or old sculpts. My youngest is really into Star Wars now, and while he has an old school X-Wing, really wants a Y-Wing. The problem is, unless you want a totally beat to hell one that is missing half its parts they can get up to $100 even out of box. -
Sorry it's so low Res David, but at least it's both of them.

The computer and electronics super geek thread
Knight26 replied to azrael's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Don't enter the mac cult, they are overpriced, underpowered, unable to be expanded, and extremely limited in what software they can run. Dual booting the machine with Linux isn't a bad option though. -
Gundam Show Thread - MSG thru GQuuuuuuX
Knight26 replied to Black Valkyrie's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
So, I have not seen Gundam Origins yet, and I love UC Gundam. Is it retconning things? The previews I've see show GMs and Guncannons, which were developed concurrently with the RX-78 Gundam. Is the series now saying that they came before it?- 3806 replies

A-7s are probably the second loudest plane I have ever encountered. That round pipe and oval exhaust are a big reason for that. I would bet money at the A-7 would have been quieter. The loudest plane, frigging F-35. Everyone on EAFB new when that plane spun up, it was super loud, even louder than the C-17s on the ramp next to our building.

I wouldn't say that SW7 was crap, but it definitely didn't live up to the hype. It was just another JJ retread, sorry I am not one of the JJ Abrams fan boys. They didn't want to take any risks or go anywhere knew, so just remade SW4. Not a horrible move, but it could have been better. R1 on the other hand looks really good, and I have faith in Gareth Edwards, he is a talented director. Do we already know the story? Of course, but I trust the direction he will take it in. It looks interesting and should be a star WARs movie, can't wait. -
Loved those back in the day, still drawing?

Star Trek Beyond (the not The Search for Spock)
Knight26 replied to areaseven's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Watched this again last night, still enjoyed it far more than Into Dorkness. It was a fun movie all around that respected classic trek while still being new and exciting. Karl Urban was fantastic, as were all the actors, they nailed the characters. Even my wife, seeing it for the first time, noticed the myriad Macross nods and homages in the movie.- 466 replies

The new series starts this week I believe. I would kind of like if it was a continuation and he was the original Mac's son, get some RDA cameos in there every once in a while. Been watching the original series again lately too, it was a cool show.

I enjoyed the movie for what it was, and seeing the deleted scenes feel that leaving some of those in would have benefited the film. They added a lot of character depth, especially to the younger, core X-Men. Just like so many of the recent superhero films however they left too much on the cutting room floor, things that would have improved the movie for just a few extra minutes of run time.
