The show's writing was so bad that even one of my five scenes fixes wouldn't work. It was Into Darkness bad.

What are those funky looking boot things they are wearing? They kind of look like they have interface jacks or RCS thrusters. AS for preserving the fish, it would probably be frozen so will take a while to thaw out. Cutting pieces of it off would prove a challenge for sure.

This is an issue with Trek that has always bothered me. Why send the two highest ranking officers on the ship on away missions, especially assault/capture missions? It make zero sense. At least TNG typically had away missions led by the second and first officers, with the captain only coming down as necessary. Also, the inability to lock back onto the captain was just moronic.

My thoughts on the show. Call a spade a spade, it is a reboot. While there are some redeeming qualities to the show, it is bogged down by massive inconsistencies in the writing and designs. While many of the props are nice homages to TOS designs, and the new Batleth actually looks functional (it's naginata with extra blades) the ship designs fit no known trek era. The Klingon ships follow none of the traditional design cues and the Federations ships look like they belong post Next-Gen, with many having rectangular or hexagonal nacelle cross sections and saucers that do not fit the TOS or pre-TOS design ethos. Then there are serious writing issues. The characters make decisions that do not fit their character. A spacesuit that can propel the wearer in excess of 15000KPH with no side effects. Taking a capital ship to (maximum) 500 ft AGL and then teleporting personnel aboard. Full body holograms that interact with the environment. In short, a lot of sloppy writing, and tech issues that push it out of the timeframe it is supposed to take place in. Call a spade a spade, it's another reboot, and it's not off to a great start.

What has me scratching my head, is why use a fan design for the VF-1 (Another deviantartist whose model was purchased by the comic artist for commercial usage) but still use all the other original designs?

Thank you. And if you enjoy them please leave a review. It really helps sales. Thank you. Also, a friend at work loves to print anything he can on his new 3-D printer and made the following print for me (PLA). I did not optimize the model for 3-D printing so that is why a bunch of parts are missing. And, happy accident, it printed out at 1:60 scale. Now, I just wish I still had any of my old Yamato Valkyries, but they were old sold or lost in various moves, or to pay for stuff for my kids.

Exactly @technoblue the publisher underwent serious changes this year and is collapsing in on itself. Unfortunately there were no direct contract violations so I couldn't get out of my contract. There were however multiple broken promises, reversion of certain rights, delays and other issues. So I bought out my contract, for not too much. Now I am doing what I can do get there on my own. Probably next week I'll be submitting Book 4, Armageddon's Pall, to Kindle Scout. I'd appreciate any and all support my fellow MWers can muster to help me win that contract as it is a pretty sweet deal for indie authors like myself.

ON DAGGER'S WINGS, BOOK ONE OF THE SPIRAL WAR SAGA It was a mistake. A misunderstanding, but, the first contact ignited the galactic war - the destruction of the starship Mallard provoked the bloody conflict between the Universal Confederation of Sentient Beings and the Galactic Federation and changed billions of human and alien lives forever... Peace is a fleeting state, the last written words of Blazer Vaughnt’s father echo through Blazer’s young mind as he comes of age and enters the Confederation Space Force’s Academy. Intent on becoming a pilot and do his part in ending the hard-fought, centuries-long war which cruely stole his parents, he joins the elite Blade Force and their Dagger Space Fighters. Blazer’s journey through the academy will test his loyalty for his new found comrades and, more importantly, his faith in himself. With enemies near, far and unseen encroaching on the Confederation, will Blazer have the courage to rise to the call, gain his wings, fly his Dagger into battle among the stars and end the bloodshed once and for all? On Daggers’s Wings is the first book in the Spiral War sci-fi thriller series, set in a myriad of colony worlds, it follows the adventures of young space fighter cadet, Blazer, as he strives to overcome adversity and extract revenge for his parent’s deaths. IN DEATH'S SHADOW, BOOK TWO OF THE SPIRAL WAR SAGA Darkness can hide in the hearts and past of even the most virtuous. Barely having time to catch their breaths after the Galactic Federation’s attack on the academy, the Monstero Nach proceed into Special Operations training without a clear leader. This place them under the tutelage of the fearsome Telshin Warrior, Tadeh Qudas. The opening salvos of the course will push them all their limits and beyond, and not all of them will make it through. All the while ghost from Blazer’s past emerge to ahunt him and his family. The Electrolites, a cult of Energy Gatherers, though long dead, reach out to follow Blazer and his sister, Jell. Their actions resurrect memories and events, though buried, that threaten not only the siblings, but all the cadets fight for. With their losses mounting the Blade Force will be tested as never before, and even their training might not be enough. In Death’s Shadow is the second book in the Spiral War military sci-fi series, and will take the reader across the Confederation and it’s homeworlds. It opens a new chapter in the Blade Force’s training as threats from within their own borders destabilize all they hold dear. RISING WARRIOR/RISING THREAT, BOOK THREE OF THE SPIRAL WAR SAGA Coverart by our very own Super Ostrich. Things just got real. As the cadets enter their final annura at the academy, they leave the simulator behind to engage in real universe missions throughout Confed Space. Their training will also see the cadets leave the nest and set out on their own to explore a trio of empty solar systems. Once on their own however the cadets fraction, with the “Blue Force” throwing their flag behind the Zithe led Monstero Nach, and the “Red Force” aligning with Cherstin. Meanwhile, an ancient evil, thought relegated to legend, silenty hunts throughout known space. It is a time of transition for the cadet as bitter rivalries come to a head and threaten the lives of the entire class of cadets and the confederation itself. Rising Warrior, Rising Threat is the third book in the Spiral War sci-fi thriller series, set against an increasing backdrop of worlds and locations. It continues the adventures of the Blade Force as they strive to complete their training and bring an end to this destructive conflict. Coming Soon.... ARMAGEDDON'S PALL, BOOK FOUR OF THE SPIRAL WAR SAGA For those of you who don't know, I signed on with a small press publisher last year. It did not go well, and after much heartache and work I have won back the rights to my book series. I am therefore re-releasing (again) under my own imprint. Pick up your copies today, and please leave reviews, they help a great deal with indie authors like me.

How have I missed this thread until now? This is some seriously nice design work, well done.

I've spoken to the artist who did the original CG that the new VF is based on. He sold it to another artist not realizing that it would be used in the comic. That does not violate the contract however. While VF-1 inspired, it is not the original design. This is how HG is getting around the court ruling. I've yet to see their version of the SDF-1. Also, that dialogue, ugh.

Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle (2017 film)
Knight26 replied to treatment's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Looks interesting, my boys should enjoy it. I'm glad that it isn't a straight rehash but is making it something modern kids would/could relate to more then a board game entering the real world. Getting sucked in seems a bit more interesting. The body dismorphic aspects should be interesting as well, but I hope they don't play that up too much. Breakfast Club + Tron + OG Jumanji + Generic Body Swap Movie = New Jumanji Honestly, the thing I like most in the trailer, it's having fun and not taking itself too seriously. We don't get enough movies like that anymore.- 16 replies

Not impressed, seen better roll and turn rates at airshows out of F-16s, F/A-18s, F-14s, et al.

I'm always impressed by the Ace Combat games, but really wish they didn't have the unrealistic number of weapons and enemies. What I wouldn't give for another Strike Commander game.

Why is this console so ridiculously hard to find? I just want to get the basic console and a game for my son and its sold out everywhere, unless I want to pay an extra $100 for it.

Another animated Mexican Day/Land of the Dead movie? I think I'll play Grim Fandango again instead.

Damn, that is nice. You should fill it with expansion foam to give it some extra structure and rigidity. Then get together with some RC guys and slap some ducted fans into it, get her flying.

I would be quite surprised if that thing could even make it off the ground, and if it could, it clearly is subsonic, and I doubt it could carry any weaponry aside from maybe a sidewinder or two. It looks smaller than an F-5/T-38 and the area forward of the "cockpit" is too small for any significant radar. The camera turret underneath looks like something off the shelf. Notice that they didn't show the cockpit this time, the one with a car stereo system installed.
