  1. Yeah; it makes me wonder in the story that after the Unity Government deciding to keep all of that secret, the first thing that happens after the Valkyries and Destroids were revealed to the public was a demand for model kits and toys?
  2. Now if they can get this series together in one piece...
  3. Alternately: carve out the lights, glue in some clear styrene and file the light to match the wing contour and shape.
  4. A few things here: 1) As any equestrian will tell you: any sort of padding or armor is only going to do so much for you in a fall. You land the wrong way and no amount of armor in the world is going to save you from a broken neck. And their armor didn't look to have much in the way of cybernetic reinforcement for their necks. 2) "Fast travel"; in an open cockpit with no apparent restraints, windshield, shielding or whatnot. After a certain speed, your own velocity works against you, and "armor" is simply a container for your remains. 3) That armor is going to do squat for them when enemy artillery (energy or otherwise) come their way in that open cockpit. This is how open that cockpit is (not no seat belt per se): Not to mention when it transforms into robot mode, it takes several seconds. That's an eternity in which an enemy can open up on the exposed pilot. You can also see here that the "cool armor" does not have much to protect the pilot's neck from stresses involving the head being thrown around (coup/contre-coup), or sudden twisting or jarring. @Seto Kaiba I'll bet I'm missing some stuff here... anything you want to add?
  5. Looks like they put VF-1 legs on a VF-31...
  6. And if that's working for them, they'll probably continue to do so. And probably hiding from Mylene!
  7. Like for example: an actual enclosed cockpit that doesn't make it's pilot a sitting duck for all sorts of crap and is ready to dump them out at a moment's notice. I personally wonder when the designers of this mech heard the word "convertible", they were thinking of drop-tops!
  8. I'm thinking about the same thing: if. Being that they're using a different company, there may be a different schedule; I imagine Sunrise has other projects and have to schedule when the new Macross series can be produced. Speaking of Yoshiki Fukuyama: I wonder what Basara Nekki is doing these days in the Macross universe?
  9. We could always shorten that to War in the 8th MS Memory.
  10. Exactly; the decal film on the older kits can be problematic. Another way to deal with them is to scan them into a program like GIMP or Photoshop (or even Paint), then print them on a new sheet of decal paper and clearcoat it. Granted, you'll have to cut each one out, but that should avoid the age/ tearing issue. And yeah: miss the old capital ship models as well! Not familiar with the 27, 31 or 262 kits, but I've had the VF-1 and 25. I agree: the VF-1 is a hot mess that will simply cause you tears and increase the possibility that the model will end up flying across the room to its' "violent disassembly"! The 25 was okay, but the transform was a bit fiddly IMO.
  11. More like the shark got jumped. In all seriousness, that Macross shows that former enemies can become friends is one of the most welcome ideas I've ever encountered, and is one of the things that keeps bringing me back to the franchise.
  12. Hang 10, dude. In a Battle Fortress.
  13. So, I guess the yoke's on you then? *runs*
  14. So basically, Macross is Just Miscommunication and Gundam is Bleep You, Lather, Rinse, Repeat. Right?
  15. Or as debris. If anything could use a redesign from the ground up, it's Southern Cross, mech and all.
  16. If they want "dark and gritty", they can always imagine being a survivor of the orbital bombardment that devastated the earth in SFDM.
  17. Just gotta make sure it's either for your region or you have a player that can play whatever region it is. Try here: https://picclick.com/?q=yamato+2202+dvd
  18. *- Belt sander for hair not
  19. Seto...you know better than to bring politics into this discussion!
  20. No...give the kits to me.
  21. Right? Maybe they should have saved all that for an animated movie/ series about the Engineer's society or something...
  22. One of the biggest problems of the old kits will be age; if you get an older kit, try to opt for one of the more recent pressings of it, as polystyrene and decals become brittle with time and exposure to UV rays. Also, be aware that with transforming kits, you should scrape paint away from areas where the parts will frequently make contact or scrape together. I have found that transforming kits can be made to work well with some precautions, such as replacing fragile plastic parts with metal or sturdier plastics like ABS where and when possible (such as the square retaining bar for the "backpack" on IMAI's 1/72 VF-1 transforming valks). But that said: the advantage of them is that with some work, you can make a kit that can rival their later counterparts.
  23. Well, they could always try introducing the Aliens to fast food; look what it did for the Predator:
