  1. Right? I'm also hoping maybe sometime down the line they may do some of the capital ships too (Zentraedi).
  2. Really liking the design and concept here; an unusual and unique take! One question though: I recognize the name Oberon from A Midsummer Night's Dream. Is that the origin of the name?
  3. I have an NECA Robocop that I did my own "Murphy" head for a few years back. Right now, it's sitting in the repair bay while I redo the elbow joints (they shattered). Thinking of just replacing the shoulder joints as well and trying to get it as close to the way Peter Weller could actually move in the suit in the 1987 movie.
  4. Glad I have vol 1 and 2 of the OST on CD.
  5. I gave up on Reprolabels stickers after the cost of them threatened to sink my collection! Instead, I found that by printing them in Photoshop onto clear decal paper, then clearcoating them and applying them to HVAC aluminum tape with Microsol and one more clearcoat, I got a pretty good result!
  6. That's something I need to find a way of building into my current Voltron (as soon as I can replace Blazing Sword for him...).
  7. Well, believe it or not, the F-14 is named after a Thomas... Little backstory for folks who may not know: In the 1960's, project TFX developed the F-111 as a joint-fighter between the Navy and the Air Force. However, it displayed poor performance specs in its' flight tests and was not recommended for naval use by the test pilots. Grumman, who had been working with General Dynamics on the naval version, began doing improvement studies into what a naval fighter would require when the TFX program as a whole was becoming a problem. As a result, they then proposed possible alternatives. As a result in 1966, the Navy awarded Grumman a contract to do studies into an advanced fighter design, as Project VFX. That design would later go on to become the F-14 Tomcat; with that said, what does this have to do with "Thomas", you may ask? Well, on one of the test flights, Vice Admiral Thomas Connoly, Deputy Chief of Naval Operations for Air Warfare at the time, investigated the test pilots' complaints and actually flew in the plane with another pilot. When he testified before the Senate hearing held to determine why they shouldn't sponsor the project any further, he famously said: “Mr. Chairman, there isn’t enough thrust in all Christendom to make a Navy fighter out of that airplane.” After the start of VFX, that project had gained nickname "Thom's Cat" during development to reflect Connolly's involvement in the project; to that end, and in recognition of Adm. Connoly's sacrifice (his career was ground to a halt over his testimony concerning the F-111), Grumman adapted into the official name (not to mention most of Grumman's previous craft had feline names)... ...and the rest became history.
  8. On a side note; the F-111 had been originally developed as a joint-fighter between the Navy and the Air Force, but displayed poor performance specs in tests. Grumman had been working with General Dymanics on the naval version, but when the program as a whole was becoming a problem, Grumman began doing improvement studies into what a naval fighter would require and possible alternatives. in 1966, the Navy awarded Grumman a contract to do studies into an advanced fighter design. That design would later go on to become the F-14 Tomcat (Named after Vice Admiral Thomas Connoly, Deputy Chief of Naval Operations for Air Warfare). So, the F-111 and the F-14 do have some commonality, but are different aircraft.
  9. I'd like to see a TV SDF-1, to be honest...
  10. In the military, I think they call it a "target". Really like how this is coming out MT! I think the hose definitely adds authenticity to it, as some Type of electrical/ datafeed link between the launched and the turret. The one thing I would recommend is maybe some kind of rangefinder sensor thingy on the missile launcher, but maybe you already have one on the turret. Overall, I'm very curious to see how this diorama comes together!
  11. I visit these regularly, as well as the models.
  12. @arbit my suggestion: no dancing hamsters.
  13. I think maybe Hasegawa should try a transforming kit at some point. jmo, make of it what you will.
  14. I meant using that X-wing and the same-scale tie fighter...
  15. Thanks guys; still depressed about not scoring an SDF-1 and the other stuff, but ce la vie I suppose. (la vie) *ducks* Now the next challenge: how to build a Death Star Trench Run diorama that isn't the size of a small room...
  16. update: Starting the smaller one (although I worry it may be a tad too small). I may do a third and just mail all three at this rate. Just want to get this right.
  17. Well... I guess we're going to start 2022 a little early here- I used High-Density Polystyrene (HDPS) that I culled from an old printer,to make the new wing attachment roots; thwe For the main joint, I got a piece of PVC tube and measured and cut it to the length of the entire joint (back interior wall to front interior wall). I then cut it in half and glued each half to a staggered set of wing roots: The main pin is a hardwood dowel; this was chosen so that instead of splitting the tube (a real possibility, due to the fact that I had to cut slots in either side to accept the wing roots), it would compress instead: Testing of the new pivot in "X" formation: Testing of the new piece in both deployed and closed positions (sorry about the washed-out lighting): I then cut slots into the rear of the wing roots to properly mount the s-foils; I had to cut a sizeable chunk out of the area where the wing originally mounted and replace it with a better plastic: Finally, finished: The wings cant inward and downward slightly; that was unavoidable, given the work I had to do. The softness of the plastic determined for me that I had to male a few concessions in order to preserve the structural integrity of the craft as a whole. But, at least it's together now, and I'm sure the filming models weren't 100 percent perfect either! Now: to get Darth's TIE X1 Advanced, and make a diorama... Stay tuned.
  18. UPDATE: basic shaping finished- As soon as I refine the edges, I'll start the detail engraving. Then I'll work up the slightly smaller one. Stay tuned...
  19. Thanks; incoming PM for you with added details (realized I didn't want to say too much on the open boards).
  20. Okay, got some work done: It's upside-down right now, but I just have to cut the other end to shape and sand it. Stay tuned.
  21. Had a power outage tonight...hope to have progress tomorrow. Sorry.
  22. Thanks! I'll use these to start... I should have something to show you later tonight.
