  1. I haven’t had that problem since I started using gloss coat before the application. When I had a slightly dull surface though, I used to either scrap the decal by sanding it down and replacing it. But I did find that mixing the base color with clear and spraying it over the decal sometimes worked pretty well at hiding the silvering. There’s also the difficult method of masking the decal and just spraying the color over it or if you have super steady hands, there the xacto method where you lightly follow the outline of the markings and carefully peel away the bit that’s damaged, but I’ve never really been successful at that one. Hopefully, you find a method that works for you. Either way they are tiny blemishes on a fantastic build. Great job and can’t wait to see your next project
  2. That’s actually pretty neat
  3. It kinda feels like it might be a chore to keep up with this plan. Now you gotta watch the movies and the shows and the cartoons and play the games. I haven’t even played a video game in over a year
  4. It’s all part of the transformation process. The magically retract when the missiles are launched. The process is hidden by the smoke the missiles create so the animators never have to think about it. All joking aside, I wonder if anyone thought about them or if they did, if the message just never got to the animators.
  5. As said above it’s already been done. But there’s teasers for a new one. The best idea is to do its own story. Gundam has so many alternate universe stories, it would be best to make it unrelated to anything before it so there won’t be the expectation that they will ruin a character or make a horrible version of the beloved Gundam itself.
  6. Yeah, but it’s not as messy as that kit. I hated those arms so much and the wings were also fiddly and barely closed over the poly caps but the worst partsforming definitely belongs to the vf-100 line. Those were just hand grenades without a timer
  7. I never liked the anime and I feel like the live action will just be a sinking ship
  8. I’ve really been wanting to watch it, but I haven’t had time for tv the last couple weeks. As soon as I get some time I plan on watching Hunters season 2 and Last of Us. I still haven’t had time to finish Willow, although I’m really not to excited to watch that last episode.
  9. They definitely are getting better at the mecha side of things even if they’re a bit behind the times. As far as the VF-1, their biggest competition would be Max Factory since their fighter and battroid are 1/72 scale. I’d probably be going straight for the newer ones, but for some reason Max Factory is only doing stickers. I’m probably gonna just go all in on Max Factory if their battroid gets some decent reviews and either find someone to reprint the decals or cannibalize some Hasegawa Valkyries for them. I do still like the regult series and hope they continue and do the other zentraedi mecha. And hopefully Hasegawa keeps advancing in how they make models. So far Hasegawa is the only model company that’s giving Zentraedi mecha a chance.
  10. I bet it’s a mix of issues. They’re a company that specializes in real world models. They do a good job of robots, but their offerings feel more like late 80’s kits rather than modern Bandai or even wave kits. The recent regult feels light years ahead of their battroid even though it still feels a decade behind the other companies. They have a bit of a jiggle to them that you don’t get with other companies. Their production is much slower than other companies as well and things like poly caps are a rarity. They are getting better at what they’re doing with them, but with other companies like Wave or Bandai or now even with Max Factory doing a battroid VF-1 in 1/72 scale they may be backing off due to competition Since the majority of the modern kit builders may prefer an easier build over what many see as an outdated model
  11. Could try light sanding to remove it. If you don’t have a sore for it, it looks like you could just paint that section grey and either get some stripe decals or mask and paint the red lines
  12. I’d love to see that diorama
  13. They’ve said the hmr stuff is too big over in that side of things, closer to 1/90 or possibly bigger.
  14. Unpacking and came across some older hg kits from way back when I either barely painted the kit or just hand painted and dry brushed the kits with citadel paints
  15. I was really glad to see they finally rereleased this one after so long. I picked up this and the Tomahawk as well as the Defender at hobby search. There are things I like about this one better than the Kotobukiya version, like the foot option, but this one definitely has more work. my old one met with an unfortunate mom came over to help clean accidents ad I found it off to the side smashed and just couldn’t find the necessary parts to do a rebuild. It’s one of those kits that wave waited a very long time to do a second batch
  16. The Bandai one is still just a reissue of the super old imai one and a lot has changed since those days where the best thing about the model sometimes was just the box art
  17. Honestly they mostly came out in the early 80’s and tech has come a long way since then. I had the Arii and have seen the imai and they weren’t too bad for the time, but the best of them was the little nichimo in my opinion. The hmr from Bandai is pretty good and nothing a modern kit couldn’t do. If wave or maxfactory or Bandai did a new one, I’d expect it would look pretty great and move fairly well depending on the company.
  18. I really didn’t know until I saw them yesterday. I had missed out on the first run due to budget issues way back when they came out and didn’t want to pay an up charge through eBay. I kept telling myself that they’re model kits, they’re gonna do a rerelease soon, just like Bandai. That rerelease took quite a while longer than I expected and didn’t even think to search them out. At least I got the Defender and Tomahawk on the way. I hope one day there’s a newer Spartan
  19. Hang in there, we’ll be waiting in hopes that one day we’ll see the end of this project. Good luck and keep your spirits up. Personally everything I’ve worked on over the last couple years has been on hold at the paint process due to packing and moving. Got the place, but weather has added some challenges to setting aside a lot of time and space. Basically sideways rain somehow try to get underneath the door on the second floor. But hoping to finally be getting back to posting some updates. Got a few kits either cleaned and ready for paint or snipped and glued just needing some putty to fill seams. Got projects from Obsolete, Macross, Ghost in the Shell, Gundam, Votoms, and Front Missions coming hopefully very soon.
  20. Probably got delayed because they finally remembered Macross
  21. We don’t eat turtles over here. They’re our friends and we flip them upright when they stumble and they eat the carrots and other veggies because they don’t try to eat us either. Although, I have been wondering how they taste. Just don’t tell anyone that I said that, especially the turtle friends
