Star Destroyer to end all Star Destroyers
Scyla replied to Mr March's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I wonder how this is possible. Isn't the Black Series from Hasbro in the same scale? Regardless this looks great even of the necks of the Storm Troopers look a bit long. Is it confirmed that those are S.H.Figuarts toys and not model kits? If this is true I only wished Bandai would get the Street Fighter license from the SquareEnix toy department and produces Street Fighter Figurarts. They could even call it S.F.Figuarts. The question I have is where are the arms? I'm interested to see what comes out of this idea.

I have to apologize in advance for the next sentence so..... I agree that it would be not feasible to redesign the ankles for the VF-19 mold but I'm still baffled why the YF-19 from Arcadia has the same problems that are present and well known on the VF-19 from Yamato.

I think Skyfire is an ungrateful design that really needs some effort to be rendered in toy form. Especially in the Masterpiece scale. The characters is a huge white hulk with a huge red backpack. For his size he needs tons of details and functions hammered into this alt from. I think an approach like Bandai took with their recent MG and RG kits would work quite well. Things like different shades of white/gray plating for the hull, a frame visible underneath the white. Imaginative joint work with moving parts. The backpack should have cockpit detailing and an opening canopy. As eriku mentioned over at TFW the backpack should transform into its own spaceship like on some of the Gundam Seed mecha. Recessed and movable thrusters would also help. I know it is walking the razors edge to get an interesting toy out of that that is still true to the design of Skyfire that the fans want. As much as I would like a great Skyfire in scale with my other Masterpiece Transformers I think it is not possible without some artistic freedom for the designers. It also would cost a bunch of money to get him. Much more than the $165 price point of Chronos- 9344 replies

Red inner legs???? *flips table* *sigh* That pronounces the gaps in the lower legs even more with three colors there. At least the thighs are white but with the lower legs in red it even looks more inconsistence to me. Oh well, I have no hopes in improvements from Takara but lets see what comes out of it in the next month.- 17378 replies

I assume the DX toy has the color scheme it has because it is line-art accurate and this model-kit is not. Even the box for Bandais YF-25 kit has the same color scheme than the DX toy. The paint-job is also accurate to the screen caps Master of Macross provided. Not to ditch the talented model builder but to me it seems that this image that was posted continually in this thread is more likely to be an interpretation of the actual color scheme.

Might be possible. You should check the FaQs on the CD Japan site and contact their customer support which is available in English I believe.

It has a new hat..... I mean head. That looks pretty good..... I feel the urge of having one getting stronger and stronger.

I think someone said the take the money immediately when paying with PayPal. If you order with credit card as payment method they will claim the money when the item is ready to ship. This is what is written on their website: Source: http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/guide/help/faq/faq_credit_debit_cards

It would be nice to have a Valkyrie from Bandai with a camo-pattern.... They do have a camo pattern right? This is not some kind of shading thing?

To be fair my VF-25S, G and YF-29 had super loose hip joints out of the box so it might not be due to the fact that they are second hand items.

They included two additional pieces to attach the Yamato Fold Booster to the Arcadia YF-19. The colors of the pieces seem to match the color of the booster. Since I don't have one I can't say for sure though.

Those are valid points skullmilitia. I have to say I don't have that much experience with their releases as a whole because it would be unfeasible for me to buy that many products from Hasbro because only an tiny fraction is available to me from retail. However I really like some of the toys I got from the last waves namely from their prime line. I admit they are mostly Japanese releases because Hasbro is unwilling to produce the variants I collect. However I can see the point you are making.- 9344 replies

I agree. Especially since I believe that Hasbro has nothing to do with the collector oriented toy lines Takara is doing except distributing them in the states (with a new color scheme). I'm no Transformers nut so this might not be accurate. However some of the designs are pretty cool (I really like the AoE Dino Knights designs, especially the colors) if they are not driven by such stupid design goals like kids should actually enjoy playing with our products. I really enjoyed some of the Human Alliance toys as well. I also play with my retail Transformers much more than I do with my Collector oriented stuff (Transformers + Valkyries) because I don't need to fear breakage handling them.- 9344 replies

Your most recent Macross or toy purchase! General thread.
Scyla replied to Gakken85's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
The way I understand it is that you have a problem if the sender declares a lower value on the box. If the package is missing you will get only the value that was listed on it nothing more. So if you are shipping a $200 Valkyrie and the sender declares only a $10 value the insurance will only cover the $10. I might be wrong though. -

I like the transformations of the newer Transformers more than my Valkyries. The reason is that Valkyries where designed with the goal in mind that some parts of the Fighter- are designated parts in Battroid-Mode. All Valkyries have the engines as legs and so on. On Transformers they shift from one mode to the next without designers thinking about how that could happen. Sure there are parts on the robot that belongs to the alt mode. You get some pretty good transformations out of that if designers can figure out a way. Like RotF Leader Class Prime, or the First Editions Transformers from Prime. On the other hand you get pretty shitty transformations like First Edition AoE Prime and so on. The Valkyries have all good transformations but sometimes they are pretty lazy. Like the backpack on the YF-29 or the YF-30. They just hang there and do nothing because Kawamori. I think the CGI Valkyries from Frontier made it worse because it is clear that they have to transform mostly without mass shifting. The pre Frontier area Valkyries are much nicer like the Yamato ones from M7/Plus. So I the 30th Anniversary VF-1J. I'm tempted to buy one because I like the precise paint-jobs form Yamcadia. They are so much nicer than the ones form the Masterpiece Transformers. (WHY ARE YOU SO TERRIBLE MP-12 LAMBOR WHYYYYYYYYYYYYY??? *screams in anger*)

You lost what exactly? The blue guard with the black stripe that sits on the outside of the hand?
