I would love more Figma Samus Aran toys. With extra weapons and suits and a head without helmet. Even a Zero suite Samus or a small Metroid toy would be awesome. The regular Samus Aran seemed to be quite popular considering that they reissued it.

I think the engineering of the Renewals is top-notch. This includes the Super- and Armor-Parts. However at some point they decided to go lazy (the RVF-25) and I don't know why. The VF-25G hat this well engineered arm to attach the sniper rifle onto the Valkyrie instead of some stupid adapter. After that it got worse.

I like it when toys have metal feet. Or the metal armor on the recent SoC Mazinger Z work great due to the shape of the panels. However there is a delicate line where die-cast is beneficial to a toy and when not. The die-cast intakes on Bandais Renewal Frontier Valkyries is an example where I think that the toy would've benefited form the use of plastic.

Can someone explain to me why the attachment piece for the gun-pod is needed? Couldn't they just mold the attachments into the forearm armor just as they did it with the Armor Parts? It seems to me like a half assed job once again by Bandai. Why this strange obsession with attachment pieces? It started with the RVF-25 and gets worse and worse and worse with every release.

I just noticed that the VF-19P has some extra missile launchers inside the lover legs that the other Excaliburs are missing.

Oh don't get me wrong I will totally buy a DYRL GBP with a VF-1J. But the SDF-1 would be too cool. Maybe as a two pack with a DYRL version for $800.
-
I also thought of the SDF-1 because I really want one.

I don't know how I feel about the metallic paint on the side of the beam guns. I think I would preferred a clear piece of plastic like on visors.

Yay I can't wait for the update Mr. March. Your website is awesomeness in a can. I hope to see some new YF-29 pictures and Frontier Valkyries in the style of the other ones on your site. Keep up the great work!

I would love to build the Strike Freedom but the frame parts are just ugly and bring down the entire kit for me. I was thinking how hard it would be to paint the frame. I think the best way would be to build the frame and then spray paint it once. The next step would be to bend all the joints for their maximum angle and paint it again. I wonder if this would be worth the hassle.

Time to watch the Maverick movie again.

So the packs are heavier than the the Armored Parts? Those don't need a support piece for Gerwalk-Mode. What is wrong with Bandai and the unhealthy fixation on support pieces? Oh well maybe it prevents the wing hinges from breakage which is a good thing.

Fallout 3 had terrible ending(s). The first one I got was so terrible that I reload my latest savegame (something I almost never do) and tried the others. Terrible as well. What a bummer! Good game otherwise. I especially love the scene where you get out of the vaults mine shaft and you go blind for a second after seeing the sun for the very first time in your live.

Does anyone know where I can order this add-on set for the upcoming Hi-Nu? http://www.collectiondx.com/news_item/71614/master_grade_hinu_gundam_ver_ka_hws_set Anyhow. I would love if Bandai puts out MGs of the other Gundam Wing Endless Walz suits. Not the regular ones but the Altron, Heavy Arms and Sandrock Kai and the Tallgeese III . They already release the Gundam Wing Zero, the Deathscyth Hell and the Epyon. So the other suits cannot be far behind right?

So to sum it up. The VF-1: great toy and great accessories (like a stand) but missing the Super/Strike-Parts. The ejection seat blast warning is missing and the plastic has a pink hue if you look at it in the right (or wrong) light. The YF-19: good toy but you pay for accessories you might not really like (the missiles). It has the Super Parts but is missing the arm cannon and a stand. Issues are the terrible loose ankles. The might get so loose that the toy can't even stand properly. They get more loose if you try to pose the toy in a good Gerwalk stance. They toy has some areas where it can lead to paint rubbing. one is the black painted spine area behind the cockpit and the other is in front of the cockpit near the egress hatch in Battroid-mode. The wing hinges to accommodate high-speed mode are loose or get loose over time if you move them so they probably won't stay in the proper position in Battroid-Mode. Some copies seem to have a gap where the belly-plate in Battroid-Mode is attached in Fighter-Mode. [edit:] Oh and the gun-pod is the one from the VF-19 Excalibur not the one the YF-19 has in the animation. As you see the YF-19 has a good amount of issues and I would say that the Arcadia VF-1S is the better choice. However if you want something different than the classic Valkyrie you should get the YF-19. That said I think the VF-19 from Yamato is the best Macross toy you can get and has none of the issues the YF-19 has except for the ankles. They are still available at places like angolz or hkcollectibles if you want to check it out.

Ok so my text might be misleading. I meant that they took the 3D data and looked at the transformation and said ok we do this as a toy. So in the transformation for the show the crotch area flips out and rotates about 270 degrees. I always assumed that the cheated in the show so the Messiah doesn't look as squat as it would look in reality or that they had some panels that concealed the underside of the plane so that the crotch could be so small. The panel than could disappear in Battroid-Mode. So my theory is that the Bandai designers said the crotch rotates 270 degrees and that is what the toys gonna do without thinking how the end result would look like. On the Renewals they took into consideration that it had to look gook in all three modes and altering the transformation for this goal. Maybe I'm seeing things that are not really there but for me that might be a reason why the V1 Messiahs don't look good although they have a working 3D model to work with.

My assumption would be the presence of 3D-data. If you have a working transformation, no mass shifting and all the moving parts you want to include them all. So the 3D-data had the chest panels so the toy has to have them too. I think this was one of the downfalls of the VF-25 V1 where the designer just relied on the 3D-data without applying common sense to the design leading to a terrible design and with terrible aesthetics.

I was wondering if I should build a PG for Christmas. I really like the Gundam Astray Red Frame so this would be the obvious solution. The problem is that I think the PGs look very boring. I really like the smaller intricate style of the MGs and RGs. On a PG the panels are just bug and like I said bland.

It is a RG Destiny. I've chosen this one because I wanted the full package: huge backpack, lots of extra weapons, lots of effect parts, lots of gimmicks. I think it was the right decision. Never watched any of Gundam Seed (I think I never watched a Gundam series). I will continue my RG adventures with the RG Justice Gundam because I like the color.

Some images of the Gunpla I finished after a 10 year hiatus in model kit building. Still have to find time to start painting again.

The unpainted missiles are definitely a deal breaker. I'm not buying this!

I think I would prefer the off-white variant. However the two VF-1 Valkyries in my collection are the new Arcadia white. So if Arcadia is doing more VF-1 Valkyries from DYRL like Kakizaki and Max I would prefer if they stick with the same color.
