  1. Well you could design it in a way similar to the way Bandai implemented the hard points on the wings of their new 1/72 VF-1 kit. However if laser cutting only allows for 2 dimensional cuts that this won't be an option.
  2. I second that. I won't ordering the VF-0D right away. If a decent Black Friday discount is available I will probably buy it. I'm so weak minded.
  3. Now that Fans Toys Soar is on its way I hope I will be able to recreate this scene from the comic with my MMC Feralcons: http://www.tfw2005.com/transformers-news/3rd-party-unlicensed-41/fans-toys-soar-cartoon-version-colored-prototype-images-181085/ So many childhood memories.
  4. For me personally Magnus will be the pinnacle of the Masterpiece line. With the sole reason being that it will be the first transforming toy of Magnus that looks the part. I've been waiting for this since I was a little child and read the transformers comic. Spacebrick looks cool and I will most definitely getting one version of it but it won't have the same impact that Ultra Magnus will have. For me at least.
  5. I would buy thee of the Itasha Valkyries. One with Sheryl, one with Cathy and one with Grace.
  6. The fins on the YF-21 was one single piece. My train of thoughts was that folding a crucial part of the Valkyrie (such as the wings for atmospheric flight) too many times (like on the VF-9) would lead to an instability of the part. Valkyries do not function like Transformers where one part splits into 1000 pieces that get arrange someplace else. They have to be anchored in he real world physics. Since some people insist that Macross is a pure Sci-Fi show first and foremost I'd imagine that the physics of today still apply to them.
  7. I will wait for MMCs offering if there is one. My Feral Rex isn't even finished so I need some time to breathe before I start with another combiner. Oh and Fansproject M³ is on its way to me.
  8. Two of my last three packages from NY where caught by customs leading to fees and taxes.
  9. I have one problem with the assumption that Kawamori was lazy with the backpack design. Don't get me wrong I had the same impression when I first saw the Battroid-Mode of the Chronos. However I think a mechanism to slide the tail fins up would be easy to implement. So that get me thinking. If I could come up with a solution for the back-kibble than Kawamori must have thought about that too. Some time later I thought about the Messiah Backpack design. I had the idea that it would be much saver for the pilot if the wings folded in the opposite direction to shield the cockpit similar to the wings of the VF-9. The downside of this design would be the inability to mount add-on packs onto the wing roots. Especially with the Frontier designs the add-on sets seem to be an important aspect of the Valkyries itself. I really like the fork-ish look of the VF-25. Due to the fact that every Valkyrie form Frontier is based on the same basic frame (with the exception of the VF-171 which is based on the VF-17 and has a nice backpack) they are forced to have a similar design. The VF-27 has a ingenius mechanism for folding up the wings and still has the forked look that define the Frontier Valkyries for me. That shows that Kawamori can do it if he wants. So why is this backpack on the YF-30. Maybe there are some massive booster for the wings that can slide over the wings where the tail fins would end up if they would slide into the backpack. Or Kawamori tries to achieve a realistic design. I could imagine that wings that fold up several times are highly unstable and very fragile. The rotating fins could also lead to a more agile Battroid. On the other hand maybe Kawamori just likes kibble. There is more than enough evidence flying around.
  10. Saw the movie today and I really liked it. Especially the battle under the clear blue sky. Glad it was no cityscape at night and it's raining. I'm looking at you Pacific Rim.
  11. Looks like a Mass Effect armor for Femshep.
  12. Not that I want to derail this thread some more but the one time I shipped an item with FedEx they also charged a service fee for bringing the package through customs and paying the import fee and sales tax upfront so maybe the fee you are getting is for the customs project. Granted in my country FedEx takes a risk for paying the taxes but I never had this with any other carrier. In my country there is even a company that offers a service to get your package to you if customs can't figure out what this package contains. They offer this with a hefty fee (plus taxes and fees). In the past they also never mentioned that you could to the paperwork by yourself through a web service so many customers just payed that company. So maybe FedEx is trying to make an extra buck with offering this service for their customers. So yeah the YF-30.... I really hope we get some options for the missile rack later on. If they to the Skywarp repaint hopefully they add a new head into the mix so I can buy it without regrets.
  13. They also creep me out. I'm interested in a die cast Iron Man armor but I feat that it comes to live at night and kills me while sleeping with a repulsor blast or choke me to death because he's too heavy for me to lift him. At least with Bandai Valkyries and their loose joints they are not able to walk away from their cabinests so I'm save.
  14. Damn it now you forced me to look at my Schroedingers Valkyrie and I see cracks in the lower triangle piece. Does anyone remember if the plastic of the black pieces can be welded with plastic cement?
  15. From my understanding some of the parts will fit but most parts are not interchangeable. I think from all the add-on sets the Tornado Parts are pretty similar to the V1 parts but even there not all parts will fit. The molds are just very different, even if they represent the same Valkyrie. Check out jenius' review on his blog site to check the differences out. 16. First look for the MG Hi Nu Gundam Ver. Ka: http://www.gaijin-gunpla.com/2014/08/hi-nu-gundam-ver-ka-first-look/ It has some small transformations which is cool but I wished for a Psycho Frame like the Nu Gundam Ver. Ka. There is also a video up on HobbyLinkTv where Syd from HLJ is building the kit: Can't wait for mine to arrive. I haven't gotten an invoice from HLJ for the Hi-Nu but it is weekend is Japan so maybe I will get it on Monday. [edit:] I don't like the missing "camo pattern" on the shield. I wonder why it is missing. Damn you Katoki!
  17. How is the sniper rifle attached to the Valkyrie?
  18. I also received my copy of the Chronos. It is pretty awesome. Sadly it has some minor paint scratches mainly on the black trim areas (e.g. the waist, the chest armor). Now my Frontier era collection is pretty much done if my Tornado Parts for the VF-25G come in. Maybe I need a YF-25 and VF-171EX Alto Custom to cover all the head variants but I'm sure that are slots I can fill until the new Macross show comes around, Bandai decides to release a V3 Messiah or Bandai releases add-on sets for the Chronos. After fiddling with the support pieces I spend some time thinking about all the weird support pieces Bandai included over the years. Maybe they designed them after the main toy was done and the test shots of the Valkyrie revealed major design flaws like being unable to produce enough friction to hold the gun-pod in Fighter-Mode on the Armored Messiah or keeping everything locked together for the YF-30. Instead of redesigning the toy Bandai just added some addtional plastic to save costs. One thing I noticed when handling the missile rack. Why did Bandai stop painting the white circle around the war heads of the missiles they included with the Armor Parts of the Messiahs? They look so much nicer with the additional detail.
  19. I won't buy unlicensed Macross toys because my Macross funds are finite and I think that it is better invested in products from a small toy manufacturer called Arcadia. With my transforming robots funds it is different because Hasbro only releases very/very tiny parts of their Transformers line in my country so even if I would like to buy main line Transformers toys I have to import them. So Hasbro is loosing no domestic sales due to my collection of toys. However the collector oriented Transformers releases come first after the transforming robots from independent toy manufacturers regular Transformers toys aimed at children come second. Due to finite shelf space my investment in regular Transformers toys is very little but I buy the stuff I can get and that fit in my collection. I also think that --as David Hingtgen mentioned-- there is a difference between Macross and Transformers products. For a Macross product I want the version that is shown in the line art and I want it with all the appropriate markings in the right color with the correct accessories and the accurate transformation. And yes the designer of the Yamato VF-17 should go to hell for not including the markings on the Nightmare. ;) A independent toy manufacturer that offers all of the points mentioned above is much closer to copying official and licensed goods than most of the manufacturer that produce transforming robots (I'm looking at you iGear). Not that one or the other is "more" illegal but I think it is more likely that the rights holders will strike against the first version of copy right infringement. In my eyes this makes it more of a gamble if an advertised product will be released or not. I also think that much more individual artistic energy and engineering efforts goes into the so called 3rd party transforming robots toys than into this SD SDF-1. I'm sure this makes me sound like a hypocrite to some but that's the way I see it. I'm also aware that some of the transforming robots in my collection don't fit into my described modus operandi. Manly the Heart of Steel toys from MMC who are toys based on the illustrations of Guido Guidi (but I'm too much of a Black Prime/Skywarp/Shockwave fan to pass on these) and my FansToys bots. Oh well maybe I should just preorder the SD SDF-1 because I'm such a hypocrite.
  20. I assume this depends whether the shop declares the correct value on the the box or not.
  21. Looking at the line art of the VF-2SS on M3 i just imagine how much fun it would be playing with one that has all the gimmicks. Railguns popping out left and right of the packs and there are missile ports and giant BFGs that swivel around. I would definitely buy all the four color variants of this toy posted earlier in this thread.
  22. Small in its size. In Battroid-Mode it is only 14 meters high. As a comment I have to say that my Motorola Razr V3 is much smaller than all the smartphones I see in stores.
