A friend of mine got a batch of them back in the eighties, the first production run I believe. Gave me the runs like nothing ever since.

The ending of last season had a couple of nice twists and this one undid them. Really a shame

I've already got the whole series subbed but if the dub cast is good I may buy it again. I'm hoping this is good news for a 2202 release subbed/dubbed.

If I were a judge (which I'm not) this attempt at distancing from Macross would not work, it HG loses their rights this would be shutdown in an instant.

I don't remember them having quite as much screen time last season so the caricature nature of them is really starting to grate more. Could just be the accumulation over time however, I would expect the father at least to do SOMETHING other than be totally ignorant.

Watched through episode 5, I can't watch till 9pm and have to get myself to bed by 11 or be a zombie the next day - otherwise I would have watched the whole thing by now. Things really start to pick up in episodes 4 and 5, really really really had to force myself to get to bed last night. Only negatives for me are Mike and Nancy's parents since those two are caricatures instead of fleshed out characters, Dustin's mother has the same problem. Last year they did the same thing with Nancy's boyfriend and the cop and turned that around so perhaps something similar will happen this season - but I'm not counting on it this time.

Just finished episode 3 and liking it so far. It is not just a rehash of the first season and that is a good thing. I get a kick out of Sam's character being a Radio Shack employee - I used to stop at the local RS on the way home from school to use the computer, a TRS-80 Model 1 level 2 no less.

Solo: A Star Wars Story, in theaters May 25, 2018
Dynaman replied to Dobber's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Storing props and sets is expensive so it is not generally done unless you plan on using it again. The Enterprise Bridge set was stored from movie to movie even though it changed quite a bit for each movie. One of the problems with Trek V is that the Bridge set was ruined and they didn't know till they took it out of storage. -
Solo: A Star Wars Story, in theaters May 25, 2018

Me too. I hope the trailers for this one are good, a prequal on Han Solo is not my idea of a good Star Wars story but I'll probably end up seeing it anyway. -
Shoji Kawamori's Juushinki PANDORA (Spring 2018)
Dynaman replied to sh9000's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
A main character that doesn't look like a pre-teen. I think I gotta watch this one. And the lovely detailed art style with hand drawn characters is very welcome.- 134 replies

Just saw it today, good movie, glad I saw it in Imax, but I can't say it was great. Agreed on Bautista, he did an excellent job giving the character a good bit of feeling. The music was too loud in some spots (what is with that new trend anyway? Do we HAVE to feel the music now?) but overall was fine, much better than Dunkirk in that regard.

Which still makes NO logical sense. It was copied to disk in all of 5 minutes tops. They could have made a thousand copies while in Hyperspace.

Maybe, but TNG was garbage till the third season, and I didn't watch anything between the 4th episode or so till then, so if the show is getting better I may take another watch of a later episode.

Did Orville get better? The characters were abominable caricatures in that first ten minutes, I couldn't imagine spending more time with them. And making fun of the teenager flying a new spaceship routine was not funny. Or was that supposed to be making fun of the first episode of Enterprise?

That is no worse then "The Death Star Plans are not in the main computer". OK, back then people were not as computer savvy and didn't generally know that making a copy was bloody easy... If the plans HAD been in the main computer would the Empire have gone looking for the Droids?

Do yourself a favor and don't. I turned it off after the first ten minutes, it was that bad.

Can't argue with the animation being terrible. Since the scenes involved usually amount to walking and talking it isn't so bad most of the time.

Shada is going to be released with animated sequences for the missing footage, and Tom Baker and Lalla Ward are doing the voices for the animated bits. Always wanted to see this one! http://www.syfy.com/syfywire/doctor-whos-shada-gets-animated-in-first-look-at-long-lost-douglas-adams-story

Justice League, available now & Snyder Cut on HBO Max in 2021

let me correct that for you "Supes role is minor in this story since the other characters are practically not needed if Supes is around". Only time that isn't true if is all the baddies have Kryptonite bullets - which for some strange reason they never do. -
Is it Dunkirk loud? If so I'll pass on seeing it in the theater - Dunkirk was way too loud and I don't know if I could stand nearly three hours of it. At home I can adjust the sound as needed...

SyFy wire says subscription revenue for CBS all access went up at least 60K a month since Discover premiered. Of course there are those defending that number as being very good, it was at least 1 million per episode of TNG (2 million?). That was 25-30 years ago so 4 million an episode at least today. 60k a month is 15k a week - even if the subscription numbers are off by a factor of 10 that is a massive failure and not something to be happy about.

Star Trek TMP also takes place years AFTER the original show, not years BEFORE. So advancements in tech make sense - matching the advancements in tech the actual world went through in that time. Interestingly I just recently saw some pictures of what the TV show would have looked like- the uniforms were VERY similar to the old TV series Star Trek. There were two complaints I remember about TMP. First was that the uniforms looked like Pajamas (the fact that the same uniforms were re-used for extras in Star Trek II was mind boggling when I first read it). Second was the pacing was way way off with far too many staring at the main viewscreen shots (like that video showing all of those shots run together with porn sound effects thrown in). All of this is forgiven by the finest model starship EVER to be given the name Enterprise.
