I’m curious if many of the people actually involved with production really knew it was there
-
True enough. I never noticed it until it was pointed out here a while back.

Like treatment said, it's the VF-19 Kai and VF-19P for me. I'm ok with the HMR line being non-scale, but having the VF-19 be shorter than the VF-1 is like seeing Optimus Prime being shorter than Bumblebee in the same toyline. Their heights don't need to be exactly to scale, but they should be within the same ballpark. And the VF-19's long arms in battroid mode really do give it gorilla proportions. I've seen them on sale on Amazon for pretty low prices, but they're still an easy pass for me.

Nona might be a long shot, but missile pack, that’s tough to say. Recolors for sure. Kamjin’s black green and the gold trim color variations are pretty easy, missiles are a bit of a long shot, but kinda a simple add on. Possibly a garage company will do an conversion if hasegawa doesn’t I’ve never seen line art and most people didn’t know it existed till on of the higher definition releases of the movie because you blink and you will totally miss it. I remember thinking those missiles were just hallway lights or something till a good snap of the pic popped up on one of these threads. Not sure if anyone really noticed it till then. That pack is super easy to miss even with a good copy of the movie, but once you know it’s there, it’s there every time you watch it after that.

Remember that time Captain Kirk literally advocated for the literal devil? Fun times... and a much better episode than anything Starfleet Academy has brought to the table despite being cornier than a state fair. That's not a sonic weapon then, that's a gravimetric one that produces sound as a secondary effect. Oh, yes... the novel Forgotten History. Weird story, that one. Equal parts fix fic for a bunch of old TOS episodes like "Miri" and "The Omega Glory" and attempt to un-noodle the DS9-era DTI's noodle incident-induced loathing for James T. Kirk and his promotion to Admiral between TAS and the first movie. The life support belt - and personal forcefields in general - was a really short-lived concept from TAS. Same as a bunch of other actually pretty useful ideas like having automated defenses against being boarded. It's part of why I'm so very amused to see the humble life support belt back on top after a whopping 926 years.

Ok, I will give them credit, Gene's an amusing addition, but I don't think anyone would have predicted someone releasing a Lucy action figure in this era. I don't even generally buy figures at all, but that is just funny enough a concept that I might bite. Though, I wonder if anyone would make a Desi Arnaz head to swap onto Gene... The tiny desktop Enterprise model is a nice addition too, especially now that they actually found it after being "misplaced" so long.

STAR WARS Merchandise Episode - 2

So a small note from anyone getting that new Vader tie. If you ever want to get it back in the box, you may have to mod it before snapping the wings on. Got mine yesterday from a local source I had a gift card for, and in my enthusiasm at how massive it is, I slapped the wing panels on, and now they will not come off. The snaps looked about like what hold the E-Wing's wings on, but the wing panels are a kind of rubbery material, and once snapped in, the mushroom pegs will not let go. I stood on the panel and lifted the body with both hands, and nothing budged. The screws on the inner surface of the panels did nothing. I expect I would have needed to mod the pegs or sockets to let them snap in and out easier, but it's not happening now, so this monster is going to be sitting in my hobby room looming in the corner. -
I will certainly mod one of mine w a missile pack, if not . Is there any existing line art for that variant? The Quadoran- Ro would be awesome, but it's probably a long shot, no?

Question is: will they release the missile pack equipped version in the near future? And what about the Quadoran-Nona? It would be a good way to milk those Quadoran-Ro molds!

Devil's advocate, what if the sonic weapon is actually a specialized tractor beam that alternates pushing and pulling to induce vibrations in an audible frequency range on the target? As an aside, in a shockingly reasonable and logical piece of writing for Trek, Memory Alpha tells me that one of the novels mentioned the scant appearance of the life support belts in the setting. It said they were retired due to safety concerns. If an EVA suit is damaged or suffers an equipment failure you have a chance to patch it or return to safety. If a life-support belt fails, you just die. Which makes a lot of sense. It also kind of reminds me of the real world with NASA's Manned Maneuvering Unit rocketpack being retired after the Challenger incident because untethered spacewalks were extremely dangerous by their very nature, and the risk couldn't be justified. There's an obvious answer that author missed, though: Build life-support belts into EVA suits as an emergency backup. If something goes wrong, you slap the big red button to activate the life-support belt. This would even extend the accidental parallel with real world space exploration. After we retired the MMU, we proceeded to build the SAFER rocketpack that every astronaut wears when they go out the airlock so they have a chance to get home if they somehow wind up free-floating with a failed tether.

I am considering Shockwave the newest. If it shows up at a store, I will have to make an executive decision on the shade of purple they used. There is a range of purples I adore on Shockwave, a range that is completely unacceptable, and photos are often misleading on specific shades. (There's also a range of purples I can take or leave, but that's not a useful category.) In a way, it'd be good for my use case. My Siege Shockwave wears some of the extra bits, because I thought "Shockwave with a rocketpack" was kinda cool, and it'd be nice to have a "clean" Shockwave without the armor and texturing to stand next to him.- 18155 replies
