Hahaha Thanks. I am liking this brush painting thing. Having fun. I have also collected a bunch of debris from my yard for the display along with some coffee stirrers per suggestion, and used some air dry clay slapped on top of an old yogurt lid. Being resourceful feels good and I hope I can pull off a proper diorama/stand.

Glenn Martinez started following Arcade game starring the Mk II Monster Destroid?
-
Love seeing the Mk II Monster get some arcade love! The animation looks great and the firepower feels spot-on. Hope this inspires more retro-themed arcade shooters based on classic mecha. Would be awesome to play this in a cabinet someday!

My birthday falls in July, but I told my wife I'd hold out until August for my b-day gift since a spate of new sets were releasing, chief among them the new Soundwave. Off we went Saturday to Barnes and Noble where we have a membership that chips a bit off the price. Sadly B&N didn't have Soundwave (though they did have Optimus, still, and I've seen Bumblebee there too). So we went to the nearby Target and, alas, same story- both had a number of the new August releases, but not Soundwave. Target did, however, have the new Batmobile from Batman Forever, and while I'm not a fan of the film or its Batmobile, just from a building POV, it looks amazing and captures the look of the movie design really well. Plus, I like Batmobiles in general, so I my wife get me that and the new V-19 Torrent Star Wars set in lieu of Soundwave. After building the Batmobile, I have to say my gut was right: it provided a very enjoyable build and I very much liked some of the solutions that Mark Stafford, the set's designer, came up with to realize some of the more challenging parts of the design. However, if you're hoping for some internal lighting to give it that movie glow, there's no light brick in the set. Moreover, unlike the previous System Batmobiles over the last few years, this one wasn't built to minifig scale, although a minifig of Val Kilmer's Batman in his silver Batsuit (which ironically he wore after his Batmobile was destroyed) with a soft rubber cape is included. The set comes with a new 8x8 canopy piece in trans-black and the front cowl is a printed 4x6 windshield that can lift up to reveal weapons in the front of the car. the ribbing along the sides which define the look of the car are only held on by one stud apiece, and yet the model can be handled without their falling off. It's a sturdy model overall and IMHO, it really captures its subject well. Unfortunately, it's not in scale with the previous Batmobile sets, being on the larger side and that kinda sucks for continuity. However, from a builder's POV, I found it to be a fun build with some interesting solutions and a fantastic end result, even if it's far from my favorite Batmobile design.

Best paint for Bandai DX plastic? (adhesion/durability)
pengbuzz replied to David Hingtgen's topic in The Workshop!
Make sure you clean the plastic before painting; I recommend alcohol on a q-tip so you can carefully wipe it down. -
Do we have a release date for the re-release of the Legioss Eta? I can't find it anywhere...

Best paint for Bandai DX plastic? (adhesion/durability)
Big s replied to David Hingtgen's topic in The Workshop!
The best adhesion will be lacquer paints. Definitely the toughest, but also the most dangerous. You could test on a spoon with acrylic and glossing over with a 2k gloss and I’ve heard that can make the some weaker paints much much tougher. Bassically try beating it up and see how much mistreatment it can actually take. And of course if you want a dull or satin finish after you can add that on top -
My Ozma -29 had its nosecone yellow (top half only), and so the contrasting colors between the halves made it obvious. "Retro-brite"'d it for days and got it 95% un-yellowed, but it came back already. So I think the only permanent solution is to paint the whole nosecone. My fear is that the -25/-29 nosecone "tucks into the chest/nose gear bay" during transformation, and it might get scraped off. I also know that Ozma's -29 DX plastic seems awfully "repellent" to paint, as it took a ton of effort to panel line and paint just a few tiny details back when it was new. I'd like to avoid sanding down the nosecone for adhesion, as I'd prefer to mask around the 'arrow' detail on the nose, and preserve it if at all possible. PS---I would much prefer not to airbrush, and just use a spray-can, but would be willing to airbrush if there's some miracle paint that adheres way better than anythin in a can.

Would you be willing to print and sell 5 to 10 of each of those destroids in the same scale you have here? I am working on a 1:1500 scale SDF-1 DYRL version that I am struggling to find good print models for that a normal PLA printer can do well that small. you can see my progress on the Macross Fan Central facebook page. I am also doing a Macross Island Diorama for it in an acrylic display. If you can print those for me please let me know and I will pay you for it and send you pictures for your website when completed later this year. I also left my email on your toyroom website blog. Thank you. It looks good. Cannot wait to see it painted. my email is hprgrealtor at gmail.com

Regardless, that's rather steep. I have that figure, BTW, as I bought the Japanese CW Bruticus specifically to get Blast Off with a proper space shuttle mode instead of a jet. Like Hikuro, I didn't recognize that it was the Combiner Wars fig, thinking it was the new Legacy version.- 17478 replies

Found the Demo disc in a box! Broke out my Sega Saturn and my ST Key cartridge and the thing booted right up. Search Flash SegaSaturn Vol 16 https://archive.org/download/sega_saturn It falls from the sky, lands, then does some jumping around and crouching while trying to blast you. I guess they thought the legs were not spacy enough so they ditched it for the jets Cool! Here is the side by side comparison. Look at the bottom pic, then bottom center. That variant looks to be pulled direct for this.

There's rumblings from the grapevine that Nvidia might try to push up the Supers' release to end-of-year/Q4 2025. We will definitely see them by CES in January 2026. Just FYI, rumors point to the Supers having the exact same CUDA core count as the non-Supers. Differences will be increased memory clock speeds and increased memory capacities. Wattage will also go up by 10-20% due to the increased memory clock speed. -

that sounds interesting. Looking forward to 2026 yeah the supers are not interesting at all. 2026 it is. that sounds really powerful. I hope the ps6 portable, if it gets past the rumor stage, will actually have an above minimal battery life. i hope it'll play longer than an hour. -
